In California (where more than a tenth of us Americans are from) you could vote for for your Senators, House of Representatives, Democrat/GOP nominee, but from there on out, your vote is pretty much in the hands of others.

        Seems like a pretty big lie to me.

        And, Obama needs to stop dodging the questions about Rev. Wright. He needs to adress them head on or he's going to loose many white voters. The rhetoric about the gov infecting blacks with aids, and our brining 9/11 upon ourselves have some voters very leery of casting a ballot for Obama; especially since he will NOT discuss what Wright said and choses to be very vague.

It is only logical then that the stories getting to the front page are ones that interest enough people. Dissenting comments may get buried, but how do you suspect that comments get -36 diggs? Many people, such as myself, actually read buried comments to hear differing opinions, or find something interesting. So while conservative opinions may be buried, they are not silenced.
        • ballsdeeep, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1I'm a bit of a newby on digg, but it seems the comments that get -36 diggs are either very inflammatory, spam, links, or short, mindless knee-jerk reactions like "LOL" or "WTF". I appreciate you digging up my buried comment, and I look at those buried comments as well, hoping that I'll agree with them! My concern is that buried conservative comments are buried in red with a thumbs down and are viewed through a negative lens, as if they are unacceptable, just like the ones that I mentioned above. The green, positive, thumbs up (and in most cases liberal) comments appear to be acceptable in contrast.

          The thing that really annoys me is that there aren't enough conservative diggers and therefor not enough conservative STORIES on the front page. The fact that there are so many from the sites I listed in my earlier comment has a similar effect on the users that the comments do: it makes it seem as if pro-liberal or anti-conservative stories are the only ones worthy of the front page. Hmmmm. Guess I should call up some conservative thinktanks and tip them off on the digg struggle. Maybe I should get out more.
          • Danktolker, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1I personally believe that there are fewer conservative diggers in part because my generation, which is one of Digg's largest patrons, has somewhat rejected traditional conservative view points. Digg is a website that primarily promotes technology and new ideas, going against the fundamentals of conservative ideology in resisting constant change and maintaining the status quo. There are few conservatives who will enjoy discussing legalizing marijuana and exploring some future technology in space travel. Don't let the "negative lens" that you seem to think is attached with buried comments bother you, most people on here are not that impressionable and are able to think for themselves.
