Jon Stewart slams FOX News for “Obama Watch” clock

- ch1ck3n3, on 04/05/2008, -2/+1We don't vote for our President, the electoral college votes for our president. Popular vote means nothing. Some electors are elected by vote, others are appointed. From archives.gov, "There is no Constitutional provision or Federal law that requires electors to vote according to the results of the popular vote in their States. Some States, however, require electors to cast their votes according to the popular vote." In California (where more than a tenth of us Americans are from) you could vote for for your Senators, House of Representatives, Democrat/GOP nominee, but from there on out, your vote is pretty much in the hands of others.
Seems like a pretty big lie to me.
Democracy is just a lie to feed its hungry people! Never surrender!

- nospinhere, on 04/05/2008, -12/+5Do you mean media's love affair and bias with Obama? At least Fox has the balls to call him out.
- kevinzak21, on 04/05/2008, -3/+9Hahaha. Yeah, they have balls. Too bad the Bush administration has them in a vice.
- ch1ck3n3, on 04/05/2008, -2/+2Who controls the media? Corporate sponsorships.
Who controls the corporations? Rich, White Americans who have profited in the last century.
If the rich, white Americans want Obama to be in the left wing media, it looks like we're ACTUALLY moving towards progress.

- DesertDude, on 04/05/2008, -44/+8It's amusing to watch Diggers slobbering over Obama. He's just another one of Israel's bitches, as can be seen in some of his speeches. Hysterical. You think once he's president he'll go after Bush and Cheney and everyone who committed war crimes overseas and domestic crimes (spying, stealing, etc.)? Obama doesn't give a *****. Just another crooked politician winning people over with charisma (remember Bush in 2000?). Or wait, he's black, so that's what makes him qualified.
All the front runners/nominees are the same. Obama, Hillary, McCain, all are on and the same.- goffy59, on 04/05/2008, -19/+5Yeah no *****. I haven't heard any other candidate talk about leaving Iraq. They either say we need to be there or they say we need to work on an exit plan. Its all a bunch of *****. ***** the Republicans and ***** the Democrats. Democrats let me down yet again. They didn't abolish the patriot act; many of them voted for it. And don't even get me started on republicans. Obama is nothing bright to look forward to. The system is broken and these politicians know its broken. Thats why they don't give a ***** about us. Obama voted to fund the war crimes in Iraq. He's an accessory after the fact.- DesertDude, on 04/06/2008, -0/+1I agree. And as for my remark about his skin color, it was just a reference to some people getting overly excited that the US might have the first black president, implying that his skin color is one of the main reasons they support him.
- goffy59, on 04/05/2008, -19/+5Yeah no *****. I haven't heard any other candidate talk about leaving Iraq. They either say we need to be there or they say we need to work on an exit plan. - DigitalWorld, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1january 2009.
- marmanukem, on 04/05/2008, -1/+2What, so they can use the same recycled plot format again?
Oooh, there is this evil plot to destroy America, yay we saved the day, oh wait, there is another plot, behind the plot! Oh no, what will Jack Bauer do next??
- vatd112, on 04/05/2008, -16/+48being on FOX NEWS would only hurt Obama's campaign.
- ralphthemagi, on 04/05/2008, -5/+38How? You honestly think anyone who watches Fox News is going to vote for Obama as is? There aren't exactly hordes of people watching Fox News who are on the fence.
Honestly though, if I was Obama this late in the game I wouldn't want to go on Fox News either, simply because of the kinds of questions they would ask him."So what's the deal with your black suit? Did you really think that pretending how to be black would help you become President? How many gangs have you been in? How many times have you smoked crack cocaine? What's it like to be a Muslim living in the US?"- CypressQ, on 04/05/2008, -13/+0You hit the nail on the head. If he went on Fox News, he would be asked all of those questions. However, they are all legitimate. Doesn't make sense for him to go on that show. Just like McCain going on CNN. Makes no sense.
- lamiaconfitor, on 04/05/2008, -1/+7right. legitimate. and you must be the brilliant mastermind sent to teach us all how important it is to be a racist psychopath.
- nonstop87, on 04/05/2008, -0/+3There are Republicans who watch CNN.
- Jitwipar, on 04/05/2008, -2/+3Those are the exact reasons why I would happily prance onto the Fox News stage if I were Obama. What's the worst that could happen? He'd sooner lose the respect of his supporters (including mine) if he were to dodge the possibility of stuttering or public uncomfortable pauses for the sake of saving face.
This brings me to another thought; correct me if I'm wrong, but why is it that the arrogant politicians/journalists seem to be the ones with a tenacious backbone rather than the figures with "hope" and "change" surrounding their campaign? I wouldn't mind an Obama or Edwards with the gonads of O'Reilly's.
- CypressQ, on 04/05/2008, -13/+0You hit the nail on the head. If he went on Fox News, he would be asked all of those questions. However, they are all legitimate. Doesn't make sense for him to go on that show. Just like McCain going on CNN. Makes no sense.
- jetboyterp, on 04/05/2008, -14/+8Yeah, because Chris Wallace would actually ask Obama a tough question or two. If Obama is afraid of Chris Wallace, how does he expect to be President? But I guess it doesn't matter when your entire campaign is run around "hope" and "change".
- lamiaconfitor, on 04/05/2008, -4/+8Chris Wallace is an embarrassment to his father. He wouldn't ask any tough questions, he would pander to right wingers, like everyone else does. And if you think republicans haven't been attacking him on a regular basis, where have you been this whole time?
- crichton101, on 04/05/2008, -3/+8tough questions my ass. he would ask questions specifically worded to try and throw obama off and make him look unpatriotic or a terrorist sympathizer or like a racist. and even if he dodged all of their traps with real answers, they would try to twist his words to make him look bad. They would re edit the interview and only use the sound bytes that make him sound bad. Faux News it nothing more than a propoganda machine for the Neo Con movement and for Rupert Murdoch. May they all rot in hell.
- jetboyterp, on 04/05/2008, -4/+3Someone is suffering from FOX-Derangement....I've been asking for a long time, but never seem to get an answer: Can anyone show an instance or two of FOX News being biased?
- ichbeineinrcg, on 04/05/2008, -2/+2A google for fox + news + bias turned back 466,000 hits. If you haven't found your proof, you haven't been looking very hard.
- bayviews, on 04/05/2008, -2/+3and i just googled cnn + new + bias and got 1,610,000 hits. guess cnn is more bias
- Jowsley, on 04/05/2008, -2/+3weird, I just did the same two searches and fox has twice as many hits that cnn does.
- jetboyterp, on 04/05/2008, -2/+2@ichbein...
Googling...that's your supposed "proof"...maybe I can make up a webpage, put some anti-FOX stuff on it, and just add to your "proof"...how about a link to just one instance...go ahead, apparently you have lots to choose from, so please...choose one, and post it.
- jetboyterp, on 04/05/2008, -4/+3Someone is suffering from FOX-Derangement....I've been asking for a long time, but never seem to get an answer: Can anyone show an instance or two of FOX News being biased?
- stonewaljacksn, on 04/05/2008, -8/+3you're all a bunch of emo for obama bitches. god FORBID he go anywhere outside of the prObama bubble.
- Qness, on 04/05/2008, -0/+0Hehe! That 'bubble' is getting bigger and bigger these days ya know.
- cheese06, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1I think there are both pros and cons, he is trying to court the white conservative democratic voters and with that, Foxnews would be a great place to be tough on national security issues, especially with the recent rev. wright flap that made him look more left. On the other hand he would alienate the core democratic voters who loathe anything foxnews or Bush related.
- blackinthmiddle, on 04/05/2008, -0/+2As someone stated previously, do you *really* think Obama is going to be able to convert anyone watching fox news? Obama gave a great speech regarding race relations in this country. What did fox get out of it? Or, more correctly, how did fox spin it? "Typical white woman". The only thing Obama would accomplish going on fox is raising their ratings and giving them more ***** avenues of attack. Great for them. But I'm sure you can see why he's not interested. If everyone followed Obama's lead, fox would be forced to actually be fair and balanced.
- stretch611, on 04/05/2008, -0/+2I thought the dems as a whole are avoiding Fox news for 8 years of ignoring their viewpoint, taking things out of context, and really putting a slant on everything. Now that the people are only interested in the democratic primary (Face it, McCain's already won it, and even before he did the Democratic primary has been more interesting,) it is hurting Fox, because they can not interview the people the public wants to hear about.
- ralphthemagi, on 04/05/2008, -5/+38How? You honestly think anyone who watches Fox News is going to vote for Obama as is? There aren't exactly hordes of people watching Fox News who are on the fence.

- bob501337, on 04/05/2008, -4/+1"pseudo-intellectuals", the perfect word to describe most of the Obama camp. Lest we forget others such as: "socialist", and my Digg favorite: "sheeple."

- bernlin2000, on 04/05/2008, -0/+2Yeah, the title is a bit exageratted. Stewart rarely slams anyone, although he certainly did so to Matthews when he interviewed him on his book "Life's a Campaign", great episode :-P
- walkea1, on 04/05/2008, -20/+7Only right wingers watch fox news. Since Obama is running for the DEMOCRATIC nomination, it would just be a waste of time to appear on fox news. Actually, it would be a waste of time either way.
- KdogTN, on 04/05/2008, -2/+8I disagree with you. There are enough of us Republican's that are not happy with our choices. I have been paying more attention to the liberal runners and would consider jumping lines if I hear more of what I like...
- brettmurf, on 04/05/2008, -3/+11You know the 'lines' you are thinking of jumping is just a load of ***** to begin with. This whole two party ***** to divide our country is pretty horrible to begin with and you should never feel obligated to vote strictly one way or the other.
- KdogTN, on 04/05/2008, -2/+13I never do. I vote for who I feel represents me best. It really bothers me that both parties feel that if you register Democrat or Republican you have to side with their views. There really is no single group that can represent your full opinion. I argue with alot of my friends who are far left and far right all of the time about this. They really get pissed off if I give them a point that they agree with and say, "Oh by the way this point was made by a senator on the party you consider the enemy. You really hurt your own ability to make an educated descision by limiting your information input. I watch Foxnews, CNN, MSNBC, and even listen to Rush Limbaugh from time to time and normally if you hear a story from the Left Media, then compair it to the Right media, you can look in between the two and find what the real story is.

- nonstop87, on 04/05/2008, -3/+2I stopped declaring myself for any party after the spineless sheep in congress kept voting to fund the war with no timetable for return and when the DEMOCRATS voted AGAINST Kucinich's articles of Impeachment.

- bingobongony, on 04/05/2008, -19/+5Of course you are going to get buried, but ignoring that big of an audiecne didn't work for Kerry. Obama is a ***** idiot to not go on.
- jamesLankford, on 04/05/2008, -5/+6why would you morons gives this a negative rating?
a promise is a promise, plain and simple;
do you think Obama's going to have it easy once he wins the democratic nomination?
his entire life is going to ripped apartif he thinks he's had it rough now, just wait until he beats Hillary and begins running against McCain; his entire life, every vote he's ever made, every thing he's ever said will examined- malanic, on 04/05/2008, -7/+3"why would you morons gives this a negative rating?"
That's simple. Because they can't argue the logic, so it's easier just to bury it.
- malanic, on 04/05/2008, -7/+3"why would you morons gives this a negative rating?"
- malanic, on 04/05/2008, -4/+2He doesn't have to honour his promise. He's a politician, his name's not Hillary, and this is Digg that you're talking to here. Concentrate on the important issue. They're making fun of Fox. That's more important than broken promises.
Just digg me down, but I still reckon that if he said that he was going to show, then he ought to show, or he should give a reason why he won't. Better yet, he should never have promised in the first place.- elfster, on 04/05/2008, -1/+0As an independent that is watching the canidates closer and deciding who is getting my vote this November, there are many questions about Obama that he needs to answer. It is suspect that he hasn't gone on Fox news; dodging tough questions from the right.
And, Obama needs to stop dodging the questions about Rev. Wright. He needs to adress them head on or he's going to loose many white voters. The rhetoric about the gov infecting blacks with aids, and our brining 9/11 upon ourselves have some voters very leery of casting a ballot for Obama; especially since he will NOT discuss what Wright said and choses to be very vague.

- proliance, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1Where's the outrage over Obama's lies?
- chmcarro, on 04/05/2008, -1/+24Chris Matthews asked some ridiculously dumb questions. I'm hoping the daily show edited his interview out of context, for Matthews' sake.
- mrASSMAN, on 04/06/2008, -0/+1I just watched the interview, most of it is quite good, but he did ask some incredibly stupid questions, and they weren't taken out of context.
*btw, WTF is wrong with digg? I get an error when I try to digg any comment up or try to reply. This is getting ***** annoying.

- 33PercentGod, on 04/05/2008, -6/+4Listen,it's all about her sister now. God,where have you been,living in a cave?
(and that's a joke since Digg seems to not have the ability to pick up on that and digg people down). - rjwisniewski, on 04/05/2008, -1/+2Britney, not Brittany. Not that it matters at all.

- ptknight, on 04/05/2008, -5/+7Even on this side of the Atlantic, we don't take Fox News seriously. I'm yet to find a news coverage from Fox syndicated to my country's networks...
- bingobongony, on 04/05/2008, -15/+2Well, most people on THIS side do take it seriously. that is why it is the number 1 cable new channel 8 years in a row.
Oh, that's right...I am on Digg...no facts. So let's just make up some little pussy bitchfest...How is this..."The only reason why Fox News' ratings are so high is because people are watching it to HATE them!"- D3koy, on 04/05/2008, -0/+12Oh, people over here in the US take it very seriously....they are the ones you've gotta watch out for....scare the ***** out of me...I had a friend, and his mom got all her news from morning shows, Oprah, and FOX News....very scary...too many ellipsis'...very scary
- bingobongony, on 04/05/2008, -18/+1You are a little bitch. No one cares what you think about TV. You are NOT superior to people who watch FoxNews. You are not superiror to ANYONE and never wil be in your entire life.
- adeepercut, on 04/05/2008, -10/+2All you ***** are gonna pay. You are the ones who are the ball-lickers. We're gonna ***** your mothers while you watch and cry like little bitches. Once we get to Hollywood and find those Miramax ***** who are making that movie, we're gonna make 'em eat our *****, then ***** out our *****, then eat their ***** which is made up of our ***** that we made 'em eat. Then you're all you ***** are next.

- pintomp3, on 04/05/2008, -0/+10ratings does not equal quality. the best measure of the quality of a NEWS organization is how informed it's viewers are. fox news viewers are constantly the least informed.

- RedHeadedFreak, on 04/05/2008, -16/+10How does stuff like this constantly get to the front page. Are there legions of high school liberals out there who do nothing but search Fox News, Obama, or Jon Stewart and digg whatever comes up?
- ballsdeeep, on 04/05/2008, -9/+3Why do you think 1 in 10 of the front page stories on digg are from the huffington post, the raw story, or this one, crooks and liars? Legions of them - who bury conservative points of view and digg liberal ones (and Ron Paul). Good comment! But you questioned the enlightened ones, it'll get buried momentarily.
- Danktolker, on 04/05/2008, -0/+3It's true that the type of people who frequent Digg are mainly a younger and liberal crowd. It is only logical then that the stories getting to the front page are ones that interest enough people. Dissenting comments may get buried, but how do you suspect that comments get -36 diggs? Many people, such as myself, actually read buried comments to hear differing opinions, or find something interesting. So while conservative opinions may be buried, they are not silenced.
- ballsdeeep, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1I'm a bit of a newby on digg, but it seems the comments that get -36 diggs are either very inflammatory, spam, links, or short, mindless knee-jerk reactions like "LOL" or "WTF". I appreciate you digging up my buried comment, and I look at those buried comments as well, hoping that I'll agree with them! My concern is that buried conservative comments are buried in red with a thumbs down and are viewed through a negative lens, as if they are unacceptable, just like the ones that I mentioned above. The green, positive, thumbs up (and in most cases liberal) comments appear to be acceptable in contrast.
The thing that really annoys me is that there aren't enough conservative diggers and therefor not enough conservative STORIES on the front page. The fact that there are so many from the sites I listed in my earlier comment has a similar effect on the users that the comments do: it makes it seem as if pro-liberal or anti-conservative stories are the only ones worthy of the front page. Hmmmm. Guess I should call up some conservative thinktanks and tip them off on the digg struggle. Maybe I should get out more.- Danktolker, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1I personally believe that there are fewer conservative diggers in part because my generation, which is one of Digg's largest patrons, has somewhat rejected traditional conservative view points. Digg is a website that primarily promotes technology and new ideas, going against the fundamentals of conservative ideology in resisting constant change and maintaining the status quo. There are few conservatives who will enjoy discussing legalizing marijuana and exploring some future technology in space travel. Don't let the "negative lens" that you seem to think is attached with buried comments bother you, most people on here are not that impressionable and are able to think for themselves.

- kinseyincanada, on 04/05/2008, -0/+2so then its like a democracy we the people of digg vote for what we want to see, and since the majority seemed to be what you would call left then yes most stories would be of that side.
- Danktolker, on 04/05/2008, -0/+3It's true that the type of people who frequent Digg are mainly a younger and liberal crowd. - bingobongony, on 04/05/2008, -31/+3Why is it any of Stewart's business? why the ***** would he get his panties in a bunch over it?
- halfabean, on 04/05/2008, -0/+18It's his business because that's what he does for a living and I'd hardly say he got his panties in a bunch.
- StarlessKnight, on 04/05/2008, -0/+14That was a joke comment, right? Because Jon Stewart, as people so often correctly point out, hosts a comedy show where he can make fun of any one he so chooses and as long as people laugh he doesn't care if it's something important or something trivial. Why are you getting your panties in a bunch over what material he uses?
- Zlorp, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1making fun of the mainstream media IS his business.
- Diderotten, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1He's a news corespondent. Everything is fair game.
- GrodyChamp, on 04/05/2008, -11/+4How is this even front page worthy? I swear some of you people are going to die hopeless losers if you think ***** like this is important.
- gmacneill, on 04/05/2008, -1/+3Yet you still clicked the link and watched the video...

- CraigReed, on 04/05/2008, -2/+34"but then I stopped watching cable news" I love it that Obama has fine wit there.
- tayf, on 04/05/2008, -3/+8I live in Australia.. sometimes I flick over to Fox news for a giggle. But this Obama watch thing is just rediculous. The way they attempt to influence people with Hollywood-inspired tools of persuasion. I hate all the presenters, they say the stupidest things.
All this aside I'm really hanging out for 24 season 7!- acceleration, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1I wasn't even aware we could get Fox News in Australia... ?
- daza, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1He probably has Foxtel. No FTA news stations syndicates with FOX as far as I'm aware.
- dsmx, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1Rupurt Murdoch is Australian so it doesn't seem to much of a leap to find it in Australia.
- javip, on 04/05/2008, -1/+2hahaha yeh it's on Foxtel and I switch to it every now and then for a laugh.
I don't know how anyone could possibly watch that channel and take it seriously. - lamiaconfitor, on 04/05/2008, -1/+4I live in America and occasionally, I flip over to Fox to gaze into the abyss. lo and behold, the Abyss does not stare back, but rails on and on about how immigrants are bad, taxes are bad and the establishment of a moral police state. Its serious. Dead serious. It is the death of reason, and millions of Americans are watching a news network designed by someone who panders to Chinese government officials so he can maintain a profitable company that drives their agenda, and fuels their violent jingoists too. Nothing is more serious then that level of ignorance.
- SzaszMan, on 04/05/2008, -3/+2You had me until you started in on the kudos for that idiotic show 24.
- acceleration, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1I wasn't even aware we could get Fox News in Australia... ?
- omnithought, on 04/05/2008, -3/+2Good form, sir!
- ramsrule94, on 04/05/2008, -2/+10Where was the slam??? He may have took a slight jab. But as far as slam goes. I didn't see any slamming going on. Obama actually took a better jab at the hardball guy. Who by the way might be one of the most annoying news guys on TV.
- levydb, on 04/05/2008, -0/+2I couldn't agree more.
- bernlin2000, on 04/05/2008, -0/+2He really is annoying, the "Peter Griffin" of MSNBC. I love Family Guy, but he can be a real pain in the ass sometimes ;)
- patpl22391, on 04/05/2008, -9/+4So tell me, how does Obama plan on making the country 'whole again' and how will he 'unite' us when he snubs Fox News simply because the far left has pressured him to? Fox News was the only cable news station to give the Congressional Black Caucus a good deal to host a debate and all the top tier candidates dropped out due to pressure from far left kook websites. I'm sorry, Obama will not "restore" or "heal" anything when he bows to pressure from these people.
- teamparadox, on 04/05/2008, -2/+2I'd rather him bow to hippy liberals then neo con war mongers but thats just me...

Youtube link - Jovensdesciple, on 04/05/2008, -16/+2Obama sucks, why does Fox even want him on? Oh that's right, because they want to prove to the world that B.H.O can't answer any questions his staff didn't write him responses for... and he IS a muslim. Also, stop getting so excited about someone you will soon grow to hate (just like Hillary).
- 65daysofstatic, on 04/05/2008, -0/+7I was gonna reply to your comment, but then I thought, stupidity that profound couldn't be legit.
So I looked at your other comments. I was wrong.

- fatrandy13, on 04/05/2008, -2/+1considering they are... yes i would assume so
- EjectGoose, on 04/05/2008, -1/+12dugg for hilarity and the Ali G RESPEC finger snappy thing he does at the end.
- Scheissen, on 04/05/2008, -11/+3Obama's a left-wing libtard.
- bsad949, on 04/05/2008, -9/+2isn't Stewart cable news too?
- Aitese, on 04/05/2008, -0/+8Comedy show dude...not news...comedy
- bsmang, on 04/05/2008, -0/+4Actually, I would say it is one of the better news shows, but it is classified as comedy so they can get it past the corporate censors.
- Hypomanic, on 04/05/2008, -0/+1It's comedic commentary, but it's a little hard to tell sometimes with the news these days. The jokes write themselves. Sometimes Stewart will literally just read off the news and then pause or make a deer-in-the-headlights face or that 'I just smelled something bad' face.
- ligyron, on 04/05/2008, -1/+0Isn't that all he does?
- gahal, on 04/05/2008, -1/+56Is it just me, or does Fox News = news, just like Pro Wrestling = competitive sports?
- bsmang, on 04/05/2008, -1/+3That's far and away the best analogy I've heard this week. Maybe this month.
- Spektr4, on 04/05/2008, -1/+3"[Shows like The O'Reilly Factor] are little more than a form of professional wrestling aimed at the parents of the kids who watch actual professional wrestling."

- broodking, on 04/05/2008, -3/+2lol john Stewart uses a scene from a clockwork orange
- wright3279, on 04/05/2008, -11/+2It's a fallacy that only stories that get a lot of reads make it to the front page. Some pro-Paul, now pro-Obama liberal is MAKING THE DECISION to show the stories! Why else do so many anti-Hillary, pro Obama stories appear everyday?
- jabela, on 04/05/2008, -1/+5I think you need to understand that Obama supporters outnumber the rest of the political candidates 10:1... What idiot in their right mind is going to bury a good Obama story when faced with those stats.... If you don't like Obama, I'm afraid you're gonna have to find yourself another news community. Or learn how to use the filters... Which given you're not an Obama supporter would be a challenge for your inferior intellect ;-)
- bsmang, on 04/05/2008, -0/+3awww.. let's have a pity party...
- ligyron, on 04/05/2008, -0/+2The same reason Obama bashing comments are buried, and pro-Obama comments are dugg. Content on Digg is often a reflection of the majority's opinion
