Warning: if you are male, watching the above clip will turn you gay. - jbenson2, on 04/25/2008, -22/+4Hillary is just an amateur when it comes to declining respect for voters. Take a look at the immediate results of the O-man dissing small town America. He is the master of disrespect.
From the PA result: In the small town and rural "bitter" precincts, she clobbered him. Mr. Obama's state chair was Sen. Bob Casey, who hails from Lackawanna County in northeast Pennsylvania. She carried that county 74%-25%. In the state's 61 less-populous counties, she won 63%- franklymister, on 04/25/2008, -0/+18Hillary had a lead of over 20 points in Pennsylvania at one point, because it is a demographic custom made for her. Even after twisting Obama's words and giving him a good Rove-style smearing, she still lost over half that advantage, and had to settle for a one-digit lead.
Your county-by-county argument is surely comforting to cling to, but it's irrelevant. Sorry to break it to you, but this election is for a national office, not county sheriff.- jbenson2, on 04/25/2008, -16/+1And that is why the folks don't want to see a Presidency run by the likes of:
Wiliam Ayers (terrorist bomb-maker) as his Secretary of Defense,
Jeremiah Wright (racist pastor) giving the morning prayer every day in Congress,
Michelle Obama (America hater) heading up the Department of Education, and
Antoin “Tony” Rezko (slum-lord neighbor) as the head of the Federal Reserve.- archiesteel, on 04/25/2008, -0/+7I know you're a Rush-Limbot, but even then so much dishonesty in a single post is making me dizzy.
Ayers = Obama barely knows him, and has not made any secret of his distaste for him or what he did
Wright = not a racist, unlike those who say he is
Michelle Obama = does not hate America, and in fact probably loves America more than you do (because someone who lies as much as you can't really love what America is supposed to stand for)
Rezko = no proof of any wrongdoing on Obama's part; shall we start enumerating the Clintons' shady business partners? Or McCain's?
Go back under your bridge, troll.

- louiedog, on 04/25/2008, -0/+14Coming from the county next to Lackawanna I can tell you that Jesus himself wouldn't have won the vote if his skin was too dark. There was half a Black person in my high school (one Black parent) and I witnessed first hand the racism he faced. I won't speak for other parts of the State, but I wouldn't expect him to win that area at all.
- aqcarter, on 04/25/2008, -0/+12Way to take the "bitter" comment out of context just like the media... Being from a small town I can honestly say that I am a little bitter anyways, so quit talking about bs comments taken out of context and vote on the issues.
- green67, on 04/25/2008, -7/+1what?...you're bitter because you live in a small town?Grab your gun ,go to church and GROW UP.

Well, it is obvious what the O-man meant once you listen to his full statement. He likes to call them distractions.
When are distractions not distractions but, in fact, issues of character and judgment?
Obama's "Distractions": Reverends, Radicals, and Rezko
"Distractions" or failures of judgment?"

- theYevvin, on 04/25/2008, -3/+341I am constantly amazed that the daily show produces more reliable information gathering and comparison than any major news source. And hes just doing to be funny. It's the daily show... without the funny, but with Amy Goodman - one of the most kickass independent journalists out there and one major thorn in the ass of the corporate media.- jabberwolf, on 04/25/2008, -3/+1She used to be, now she edits stories to make her point look more valid. - unmarked, on 04/25/2008, -3/+37As has been said before, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert (along with their "friends") are the court jesters of today's society. They serve a very important role in being able to speak the truth when no one else will.
- xtinamo, on 04/25/2008, -0/+12So noted, but this is not the ***** middle ages here! This is a modern democratic society and we shouldn't have to rely on fake news to bring us the real news. Today we have the freedoms of speech and press that are used to sell a product or propagate a certain belief rather than bring truth to a country that cannot survive without it. TDS and TCR are only seen by a limited and younger audience while the rest of country is asphyxiated by the lack of and outright withholding of truth.

-Mark Twain - Jektal, on 04/25/2008, -2/+10To be fair; if you get your news from Digg, you are being lied to.
Everytime Obama does poorly in a primary there isn't a whisper of it on Digg in the political news section. I really loathe Hillary and voted for Obama this week, but it's frustrating and a bit self-defeating to only cater towards his crowd.- Fxer, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3I agree. I'm an Obama supporter (only in mind, since I'm not politically active) and I tried checking the front page on Wednesday morning and found nothing on the results of Tuesday's primaries.
- Stevo23, on 04/25/2008, -0/+5It's not like Obama supporters needed to be told he lost PA. We all saw that coming like, 2 months ago.
- caramba420, on 04/25/2008, -4/+1Digg is controlled by public referendum. All you have to do is look at digg to imagine what television would look like were it controlled by public referendum rather than corporate policy.
- xadhominemx, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1That is scary.
- mochaman, on 04/25/2008, -0/+8The point is don't rely on one source for your news and more importantly don't form an opinion until you had the chance to review many sources i.e. blogs, wire news, opinion papers, and alternative sources. Do your homework and you will filter the b.s noise ratio. uninform voters are dangerous just look at the last 8 years.
- AlKo, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3Well, Newshour is on PBS which is TV as well. Sure there is spin on their shows, but its coming from the spin doctors, I mean campaign boosters themselves. And at the very least, they are trying to provide some semblance of responsible journalism but attempting to be radically objective and show all views. Such as experts that are willing to mention without fail, HRC's sorted relationship with the truth. BBC America's newcast is often better than domestic MSM as well.
I total agree with mochaman, get your news from multiple sources together if you want a picture of the truth.- caramba420, on 04/25/2008, -1/+0There's a hidden gem in your post. You used the phrase "radically objective." I guess that means that in this day and age, being objective is considered "radical." What has the world come to? Excuse me while I go kill myself.
- TVarmy, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2Daily Show is owned by Viacom. However, I don't think they are vetted like a "real" news show because they are on a comedy channel.
- jabberwolf, on 04/25/2008, -5/+1Dailyshow is ON TV !!!!!!!!!
Dailyshow gets its jokes - from other TV snippets
Dailyshow looks for jokes not reality - sometimes they are both - sometimes they are out of context.
It amazes me how people get their news from a 20 minute show that is there for entertainment and to make its sponsors money.- caramba420, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3The fact that it is ostensibly for entertainment purposes is exactly what makes it more reliable as a news source. Daily Show is for entertainment, other news programs are for indoctrination. Which do you think spins less?

Hillary democrats take in the whole picture and want the END RESULT!
Obama tards can't see past their nose, and care about RIGHT NOW!- doubledmateo, on 04/26/2008, -0/+2I suppose I'm feeding the trolls here, but how can you even listen to her speak and still think the woman has the slightest chance of being elected president, and I'm very glad that's the case. - DeeBlackthorne, on 04/25/2008, -0/+7You know, I'm starting to respect him a lot more myself. I don't know. it just seems like he's really saying what a lot of us are thinking out there, and that the news corporations -- not just Fox -- have taken spin to a whole NEW level in the past eight years. Last night, I caught a glimpse of him prompting his Indecision 2008 segment, and he says, "And now it's time... never mind, I'm f&*$%ing sick of it! Same ol s*&t!"
- Stevo23, on 04/25/2008, -3/+125Can Obama make Jon Stewart his press secretary? Finally, press conferences would be honest (and entertaining!).
- Stevo23, on 04/25/2008, -2/+53Oh, also, if he kept his job on the Daily Show, he could say dumb things at a press conference, and then make fun of them on his show. "Can you believe what Obama's press secretary said today?" It would be total easy money.

- evilregis, on 04/25/2008, -0/+22It is sad that Jon Stewart is the closest thing to news to hit the air waves in the US. However, the most disgusting moment to me was a video posted here yesterday (I believe). In it, Helen Thomas was calling the WH on their deliberate lying about its use of torture. Dana Perino denies it and insults Thomas for even suggesting such a thing, and the rest of the press room is silent. ***** silent. Her call at the end, "Where is everybody" was just icing on the ***** that is the state of U.S. News Media.

- jbenson2, on 04/25/2008, -3/+1I guess the ammunition analogy might not apply. Ammunition can only be used once. But this Obama stuff is like a pepperoni pizza. It keeps coming back and repeating. And Tums won't help.

Although few embody that state of selective representation quite as loudly as Hillary's current campaign.- tacojohn48, on 04/25/2008, -0/+13It is not now, nor has it ever been, nor will it ever be a democracy. It is a republic.
- insllvn, on 04/25/2008, -1/+4And in a Republic, the population democratically elects its representatives, although you may have a point in that the fact that most Americans are so ignorant of the details of how our government functions and what it is meant to be has contributed to our current situation. I disagree with the OP that a drawn out election means votes are meaningless to everyone, but they certainly seem meaningless to Clinton. Bush is a whole other story. The man is either a hell of an actor and a great liar, or he is a madman who truly believes he is doing gods work promoting his personal agenda in the middle east. Either way he has much bigger problems than his autocratic leanings. Which brings us back around to our problem, namely that we the people seem woefully ignorant not only of the semantics of our government, but its function and purpose.

Seriously, people, make sure you know what you're talking about before deciding to bash America...
- tacojohn48, on 04/25/2008, -0/+13It is not now, nor has it ever been, nor will it ever be a democracy. It is a republic.
- davidg11, on 04/25/2008, -10/+36I realie why a lot of people hate Hillary....and why others need her..she talks down to you like you're a little child. Obama, in contrast, inspires. Democrats. As a whole, democrats think they are victims of everything. Therefore it is completely understandable that many need a "parent figure" like Hillary to talk down to them and take care of them.
That's what a bloated govt is supposed to do..take from the rich and "take care of them". The other half want to be inspired to do something about what they see as a perceived mess in government. That's Obama's camp. They're still needy..after all they're democrats, but don't need to be coddled like Clinton would do to them.- bond1963, on 04/25/2008, -4/+6Actually, I'm a democrat still waiting for Obama to inspire me. So far I like what he is saying but I'm still waiting for his explanation on how he is going to do what he is saying. I'll probably vote for him - but inspired..... not really. But I'm open to be.
For example, listening to him makes you want to believe he's a great uniter of people. If that's so how come the democrats are almost 50-50 divided on him? How come so many Billary people polled said they would vote repug instead of him? Maybe they were bluffing... Is he our best shot at the ideals he says he's for? Maybe. Is he what he says he is right now. I don't see it. I doubt many people expect any pres candidate to live up to what they say they will be though. Maybe I'm just a pessimist.... and maybe too many people are too optimistic.... Seems like the logical place to be is in the middle... i mean 50-50? - skipdog172, on 04/25/2008, -0/+6I'm not sure what you expect from any presidential candidate. How do you "explain how he is going to do what he is saying"? Haven't you read his policy PDF? How more clear do you want it? Is he supposed to explain, in detail, his predictions of exactly how certain bills will get passed in the Senate or House or something??? I guess I just don't understand what kind of "explanation" you expect. He has layed out all of his policy goals, is he supposed to tell us how he can magically get support for them or something??
- bond1963, on 04/25/2008, -2/+0Nope.... I just listen to his speeches, etc.. I don't read Billarys propaganda either. I suspect I'm in the majority in that regard. And I'm old enough to have heard it all before. Above I said "support your guy but question everything". That's all I'm doing. Why should I have to read though a pdf? If that's what I'm supposed to do it sure would cut down on the amount of time I have to listen to speeches... "I'm running for President. If you elect me things are going to be great. If you want to know how I'm going to do it then read my pdf. Thank you and God bless America." I guess I expect too much from any pres candidate like you alluded to.
I just think anybody that becomes a fanboy of any candidate to the point that they don't question anything is going to be disappointed when things don't "magically" work out like their guy/gal said it would. - bpoteat, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3bond1963 - You want everything explained in detail but you don't want to read the document that does exactly that?
- bond1963, on 04/25/2008, -1/+0Yes. I want them to look right into the camera and give details. Am I asking too much? (seriously asking because maybe I am)
- Asrrin29, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3bond1963 - yes, you are asking too much. To go into fine detail of every aspect of his campaign would take entirely too much time and would bore a large majority of Americans. And the people who want to know about those fine details know exactly where to look. and it's not just online. Ask any volunteer of his campaign and they can hand you pamphlets that are the exact same thing. There are magazines and periodicals that have gone to great lengths to compare and contrast the points of campaign platforms. The debates (the first ones at least, these latest ones are nothing more then popularity contests) are designed to give out that sort of information. Giving victory speeches and answering questions about supposed scandals are not the time nor the place to give the details of a platform.
- bond1963, on 04/25/2008, -2/+0You've got to at least admit that the vast majority, I'm guessing 90 + percent, of the people don't/won't do that. And it doesn't have to be "fine" deatil. There surely a way to strike a balance between speaking flowerdly, fluff words and boring the audience to death with every little detail. How many times have you heard a politician speak and you've thought to yourself, "Yeah right! And just how are you going to pull that little miracle off?"
And, I'm just wondering here, are you a volunteer or in any way working or campaigning/volunteering for Obama? Have you seen these pamphlets? I can't image they would go into "fine" detail either.
And I'll go look at Obamas pdf. The problem is that to be fair now I have to go read Billarys..... sigh
- bond1963, on 04/25/2008, -2/+0Nope.... I just listen to his speeches, etc.. I don't read Billarys propaganda either. I suspect I'm in the majority in that regard. - sallywally14, on 04/25/2008, -0/+0That's kind of annoying when people say that...how do you expect to find out their plan unless you research it? This isn't just aimed at you---it's just that you will never find out the plan in a speech or in a timed debate, so that's all you will hear. A lot of people say that, no matter what candidate.

- jerbaker, on 04/25/2008, -1/+3Interesting. I have found that, in general, Democrats are really for what Republicans pretend to be for: family values, personal responsibility, accountability, integrity, and honesty. Republicans make a lot of noise about these things, but whenever it comes time to hold banks accountable for selling shoddy loans to homeowners, there's no will to hold them accountable; when a company makes defective products that hurt or kill people, they're not responsible; when it comes time to put your money where your mouth is when it comes to family values, Republicans believe it's more important to punish bad parents by taking away government aid than it is to make sure their children get to eat and don't pay the price for their parents' behavior; whenever anyone suggests that we can pool our resources together to achieve something that we cannot all achieve individually, Republicans attack it as socialism (see healthcare, public education ,etc.). It just goes on and on. Republicans are a party of self-interested, ignorant, lying aristocrats who are perfectly willing to continue their parasitic existence on the backs of the general population.

- tlm2021, on 04/25/2008, -1/+20Finally. It's kind of the ***** that makes me unable to vote for Hillary in any election. And it's been even more frustrating that the marginalization of the actual voting results has been ignored. Instead let's focus on pastors, flag pins and Bosnia. THIS is why Hillary lost my vote. Having the super delegates overturn the clear will of the people will do far more damage to the Democratic party and to the country as a whole than having Obama vs. McCain in the fall.

- meltlight, on 04/25/2008, -0/+18AND... Hillary and most of the media forget a huge truth about the actual popular vote. the votes counted at Caucuses are not individual ballots-- they're representative of precincts and districts. that's why the vote totals are well below primary vote totals.
if you count the actual individual votes from Caucuses, Obama's pop-vote increases by two million (at the very least).- KLBP, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2EXACTLY! Hillary's vote count math does not count the popular vote of many caucus states and she lost by huge margins in these states. A quick check of voter demographics will tell you why I hope Obama gets the nomination.- vade79, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2Everyone thinks they can predict the future. There are entirely too many variables to process the final result at this point, Nostradamus.
- EtherGnat, on 04/25/2008, -1/+3JointVenture can predict the future with ease, using polls. For instance on 3/27 he said:
"Wake up Sparky and read the polls, McCain leads Obama by double digits." http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/Obama_s_Speech_o ...
He was referring to a poll by Rasmussen Tracking that had McCain leading Obama by 10 points. Unfortunately the "future" changes--that same poll now has the two tied (Obama was up by 2 points in the Rasmussen poll that was up yesterday). If having a double digit lead was significant, then losing it in less than a month must be REALLY significant.
Pay attention to this guy at your own peril. - EtherGnat, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1"More women will vote for McCain if the Democratic nominee is Obama."
Not so much:
"Overall, there is a three-way tie between the three remaining candidates among women, with Clinton receiving 27%, while Obama and McCain each received 25%. Overall, this netted 52% for the Democrats vs. half of that for the GOP; 17% of women said they were completely undecided." http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/04/10/ ...
There's not a signfiicant difference between the two candidates based on the population at large. Old white women--Hillary's biggest base--tend to go for McCain anyway.
- unmarked, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2Actually, it is more likely that many Obama supporters will just give up on the political process -- noting it as corrupt and having nothing to do with actually solving the problems this country faces. They'll stay home and the status quo (under Clinton or McCain) would continue. Both Clinton and McCain represent generations of people that seem happy to spend their grandchildren's future away without a care.
What we are seeing is the beginning of a generational conflict -- the future generation (represented by Obama) is not going to be content with the current generation (Clinton & McCain) spending away their future for another 4-8 years. - xenuxenuts, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1I would, but I can't. "KISS MY ASS!" (youtube it)
(and whys it gotta be black ass? can't any ass be good enough?)- cjshamrock, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1booty equality for all

- DEIx15x8, on 04/25/2008, -11/+1At least she cares about the people. I'd rather a candidate that cared about the people than the votes. I'm talking to you Obama!
- darksideownedu, on 04/25/2008, -1/+5How the hell does she care about the people? You seem to be forgetting the fact that she is practically begging the superdelegates to overturn the popular vote and appointed delegates, that her "healthcare fix" is to fine you if you don't have healthcare, and that she is lying and deceiving the public time and again in order to win at an cost.
- odessadark, on 04/25/2008, -9/+1How is this "brilliant"? They strung a bunch of sound bytes together from different points during her campaign. And duh, she wants to win. So she downplays anything that shows she isn't winning. The fact that Comedy Central is a source for election coverage is quite apropos considering American politics is a ***** joke.
Throw all their names in a bag and pick one at random. Because they are all lying, egotistical, self-centered bastards who will say anything to get you to vote for them. And not one of them will change the fact that you work too hard for too little. Wake up -- this country is on auto pilot, and the figurehead sitting in that office has no impact on the quality of your life.
Thrall '08- vade79, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2Apathy solves everything.
- CrackyJSquirrel, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1Sorry buddy, but open your world view.. There is a whole bunch of ***** going on, its not just America with messed up politics and lying politicians. Besides, I don't think anyone with half a brain considers The Daily Show a source for election coverage, its a COMEDY SHOW you fool.. I guess thats why its on COMEDY CENTRAL...
- diggduggDOOM, on 04/25/2008, -0/+0Your solutions to this problem are wise and just. Oh wait, no they aren't because all you provided was apathy, despite your call to "wake up". What are you doing to change the system?
Play more WoW, why don'tcha?
- JointVenture, on 04/25/2008, -8/+4Funny watching the Democrats say the same things they attacked the Republicans for saying the past 16 years.
- TimeLincoln, on 04/25/2008, -4/+7Hillary Clinton is a bitter old man with no shot at victory. Why the ***** doesn't she just drop out!
- mapkinase, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3New rules: Each democratic superdelegate's vote counts as 1000 votes on November, 20 elections.
- FiestyPumpkin, on 04/29/2008, -0/+1But only for Hillary,or so she would think.
- zcreem, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2So this election is going to come down to the Toastal voters again.
- frankingeneral, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3"I would win if we had the less fair,winner-take-all delegate distribution system like the GOP, which puts an even bigger rift between the people and their actual wishes..."
- pettdog78, on 04/25/2008, -18/+1She's still a better option then Obama... I'd take the skank over the Elitist anyday...
- caramba420, on 04/25/2008, -2/+4I want an "elitist" more than anything in the world. Look where having "a man of the people" has got us. Think diggers are uneducated and annoying? The average person in this country is a total *****. Now we're going to sit around and say, "boo! He talks down to us?" The American people deserve to be patronized and talked down to. Look at the statistics of our education vs. every other industrialized nation in the world. We are pitiful.
- Kyderdog, on 04/27/2008, -0/+1AMEN, look who the American people put into office in 2004

- BlacklabelSAR, on 04/25/2008, -0/+5Let's see...whenever the Democratic Prinary goes all the way to June, the Republican candidate wins....Hillary says that she wants to take it all the way......she just put herself in front of the Dem party.
I am an Independent but would not vote for ANY candidate that put themselves ahead of the voters. - username484767, on 04/25/2008, -6/+1what a *****
