- thepoliticalcat, on 05/31/2008, -5/+22Just what we need. Another senile old warmonger snoring through meetings. Wasn't Dick Cheney enough?
- notanidiot, on 06/01/2008, -0/+5wake up, grampa!!! the president is speaking!
- honeymustardn, on 06/01/2008, -0/+3Don't worry grandpa, it's not important.
- soogy, on 06/01/2008, -0/+6I'd fall asleep during Bush's State of the Union address, too.
- macweirdo42, on 06/01/2008, -0/+2No way, Bush State of the Union addresses are fun. Frankly, it's one of the few things I'll miss about this presidency. There are just so many great opportunities to mock and make fun of him (as if he doesn't do it enough on his own). I, for one, am sorely gonna miss the nukular drinking game (drink every time he says "nukular" instead of "nuclear" - swear to God, that'll get you proper ***** up).
- notanidiot, on 06/01/2008, -0/+5wake up, grampa!!! the president is speaking!
- jforjools, on 06/01/2008, -3/+14Good to see he was so alert during the Iraq comments.
That explains why he can't get anything quite straight. - rahamm, on 06/01/2008, -4/+6Apparently he "was reading it in his lap"
Don't buy it though.- cg4et, on 06/01/2008, -1/+11Looks more like he was reading the inside of his eye lids.
- PeppermintPig, on 06/01/2008, -1/+4He was playing Nintendogs.
- thirdcoastborn, on 06/01/2008, -2/+7Mr. Magoo does it again.
- PeppermintPig, on 06/01/2008, -2/+4There will be a quiz at the end of the address. This quiz makes up 1/3 of your grade.
/McCain, you fail!!! - B08ama, on 06/01/2008, -2/+6Time well-managed, actually.
- chrissku, on 06/01/2008, -3/+6Does this guy really expect people to elect him President? Wake up John McCain! I mean that both literally and figuratively.
- ElAssoWipo, on 06/01/2008, -1/+4They elected Bush, didn't they?
That pretty much lowered the bar there. I'd vote for the retarded guy that works at the gas station near my house before I'd vote for Bush.
At least he's optimistic. And wouldn't hurt a fly.- ronjohn, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1lol, good point... However in 2000 we didn't vote for him the electoral college in his brother's state did.
- ElAssoWipo, on 06/01/2008, -1/+4They elected Bush, didn't they?
- PiGuy, on 06/01/2008, -7/+6Inaccurate, he was reading: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MwuENtKTeU
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -1/+1Bull. He's asleep. I don't blame him, though. Looks like the guy sitting in front of him is also asleep.
- PiGuy, on 06/01/2008, -0/+1No, the guy in front of him is also reading.
- ronjohn, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1Reading what the funnies?
- why3th, on 06/01/2008, -0/+3What a maverick.
- pyro789x, on 06/01/2008, -1/+8Alright guys, there's plenty of legitimate reasons to hate John McCain, we really don't have to resort to childish stuff like this just to get negative articles about him on the front page.
- notanidiot, on 06/01/2008, -0/+6Nawww, his AMBIEN USE won't pose a danger to national security, don't worry.
- macweirdo42, on 06/01/2008, -0/+3Side effects may include launching your entire nuclear arsenal in your sleep.
- slightlygifted, on 06/01/2008, -0/+3can you blame him?
- doctorfungi, on 06/01/2008, -5/+4If you look closely, you can see him blinking.
That and MSNBC later apologized for claiming McCain was asleep, being that he wasn't.- zdiddy85, on 06/01/2008, -1/+1you're buried until you show source of your claims! ;P new digg comment system is fun.
- doctorfungi, on 06/01/2008, -1/+1The apology:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MwuENtKTeU- carpespasm, on 06/01/2008, -0/+1They didn't apologize as much as they acknowledged that it's not possible to prove one way or the other. He looks like he's taking a siesta to me. I've never seen someone read with their head tilted that far down.
- ronjohn, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1yeah souce your claim
- doctorfungi, on 06/01/2008, -1/+1The apology:

- macweirdo42, on 06/01/2008, -0/+5IDK, my BFF George!
- ronjohn, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1You think he knows how to do that?
- vinnyvenus, on 06/01/2008, -5/+4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MwuENtKTeU
This story is a lie- Noodleson, on 06/01/2008, -0/+2why the hell is this getting buried?
- carpespasm, on 06/01/2008, -3/+1Another sleepy time during hearings at a Senate Armed Services Committee Hearing on Veterans Affairs disability ratings. You can't tell me this was "reading with his papers in his lap". He had the sleepy slow head bobble and everything.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUeeIoNxkEk&feature ...- jruez, on 06/01/2008, -0/+1You can see the papers he is reading. This whole thread is just stupid.
- thirdcoastborn, on 06/01/2008, -0/+5check his pulse... just in case
- internetcoward, on 06/01/2008, -0/+5Grampy loves naps.
- Enche, on 06/01/2008, -0/+4You can't blame him, he is like 100 years old
- carpespasm, on 06/01/2008, -2/+171 if I remember right.

- Deputy_Doodah, on 06/01/2008, -2/+1deleted
- carpespasm, on 06/01/2008, -2/+171 if I remember right.
- cjshamrock, on 06/01/2008, -0/+3I have nothing against McCain, but really, is this the guy you want as president?? He's too old for this *****.
- Deputy_Doodah, on 06/01/2008, -0/+2Hey! So did I.
- jsbee, on 06/01/2008, -1/+3Sorry guys, this is about as valid as the "Barrack in Muslim Garbs" *****.
#1, he has a pretty compelling story (he was reading the thing in his lap)
#2, everybody is aware that cameras are all over in the State of the Union...especially people who want to run for President. Why do you think everybody else tends to look so managed? Even if he was the most tired bear in the room, I guarantee you he would have done a line of cocaine before nodding off during the speech
#3, as has been mentioned above, the SOTU address is a pretty worthless speech. If there was ever anything WORTH taking a nap during, this was it. Nothing but face saving by the administration and a lot of obligatory pauses for applause from half of the chamber. - kalleanka, on 06/01/2008, -0/+1In his defense, it was George Bush speaking. Most of us would probably fall asleep listen to that speech.
- knumbknuts, on 06/01/2008, -0/+1that's it, I'm not voting for him
Thanks for opening my eyes to this travesty.
