      Another example of a ape who cares not for life (if it's someone who doesn't appear on FoxNews regularly). Oversensitive about the depiction of your own icon Bush, bensdad03? Relax. Lighten up! It's just a joke!!

      He should become a stand up comedian. Pure comedic genius here....

  • dumpyhumpy, on 05/17/2008, -19/+9While I hate Republican politics, and Karl Rove, and The Republican machine in general, Huckabee seems like a genuinely nice guy most of the time (though politically wayward). The "joke" was horrifically absurd, true, but he always does impromptu metaphors and stuff... It's kinda part of his gimmicky-appeal. His commentary during the West Virginia primary this past Tuesday was actually very interesting. He was even called on to respond to speculation about him running for VP and they got him to respond immediately.
    My general rule of thumb is: Keep our politicians talking as much as possible. It's the only way to understand their motives and actions, and it's the only way to get answers and hold them accountable to their past statements. This man may be our next vice president. We should welcome frequent debate and discussion. Banishing him from publicly televised statements will not fix any problems.

The way I read it is that he was using a metaphor (a poor one, certainly) meaning that if you give Obama an issue ("a gun") he will run away from it (This is a very common Republican attack on Obama). Again, this was a stupid thing to say on Huckabee's part (as Huckabee's metaphor is unbased as Obama has consistently approached issues), but he didn't call for an assassination or joke about assassination or whatever.

    Yet another incident completely exaggerated. I by no means support Huckabee or McCain, but please stop this crap about "the media is against Obama." Just let Huckabee be judged by the voters, and if he truly offends many people, then he won't win.

    According to the article he also joked about killing another of his GOP rivals. This is the candidate that evangelicals like? Strange how the evangelical wing of the GOP are always for more police/prisons and war. A shame they have made people confuse the word conservative with these 'social conservatives'. Conservatism in the political world is supposed to mean less government and regulation.

    Shame on you Huckabee.
