- overtoke, on 05/17/2008, -11/+1does "get this guy off the air" mean assassinate?
- SSUK, on 05/17/2008, -0/+3It may do, if you're a fighter jet pilot...
- Serial0Hacker, on 05/17/2008, -3/+3I enjoy Sick Humor. Hopefully Huckabee will never be in the White House.
- ligyron, on 05/18/2008, -1/+2You are quite controversial
- franksmith, on 05/18/2008, -4/+2Get over yourself drama boy. Just because someone makes a joke about pointing a weapon at someone DOES NOT mean they were suggesting an assassination.
This stupid thing has really gone too far... it was a stupid, impromptu (and quite flat) joke. Here is a little help... I think you need it

–noun
1. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.
2. the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
3. a terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government.
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?db=dictiona ...
See that definition? That means Huckabee is a terrorist, NOT a comedian.- masterm1nd, on 05/17/2008, -1/+3Are you sure about that? Would you bet money on it?
- AtomicTheory, on 05/17/2008, -0/+3Ermmm, I'm confused.
Which one of these has Huckabee had part in?
1. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.
2. the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
3. a terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government.
1. Huckabee hasn't used "violence and threats to intimidate or coerce"
2. Huckabee does not (publicly) live in "a state of fear and submission produced by terrorism"
3. Huckabee does not employ "a terroristic method of governing" - he doesn't even "govern" anything
Chassit....a response ? - jwquinlan, on 05/17/2008, -0/+2Labelling Huck as a terrorist just defies common sense. Look beyond definitions and think ... think.
- ethornquist, on 05/17/2008, -1/+1[bensdad03] A tongue in cheek joke at an NRA meeting - Obama needs to worry about Clinton and their "mafia" - Huckabee is harmless and a great comedian. More negative stuff has been said about Bush and it is not taken this seriously... [/bensdad03]
Let's get at your justification for this sick joke. Clinton and their "mafia"? Show me where?
Another example of a ape who cares not for life (if it's someone who doesn't appear on FoxNews regularly). Oversensitive about the depiction of your own icon Bush, bensdad03? Relax. Lighten up! It's just a joke!! - boonesfarm, on 05/17/2008, -0/+3Huckabee is a Baptist minister, and like it or not politically, I would extend him a little leeway and not infer any assassination musings from this comment.
- PDAIsAOk, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1“These three birds all said they would not vote for me on caucus night. You see what happened to ‘em.” Huckabee
“If you vote for me you live. If you don’t, uhmm [moves his hand in a slicing motion].” Huckabee
Or.. "If I were some of these guys, I'd have to be sitting in a warm tub of water with razor blades." Huckabee was referring to other candidates who have raised more money than Huckabee but have little voter support.
He should become a stand up comedian. Pure comedic genius here....

- thinkit, on 05/17/2008, -8/+15Huckabee is part of Timmy's MTP "Blue Ribbon Panel" tomorrow morning. Russert should know better. I sent a protest email. Hope others to the same.
- taradisiac, on 05/17/2008, -5/+3I just sent one telling them to disregard yours as spam.
- Pillage, on 05/17/2008, -1/+1I hope it was bolded and in all caps.
- joeomar, on 05/17/2008, -18/+37Huckabee, like bushy and chacheney bring shame to Christianity. They are what the young people of today call HATERS
- afruff23, on 05/17/2008, -9/+2Ever heard of the Old Testament?
- taradisiac, on 05/17/2008, -10/+2Christianity brings shame to itself. Read The Bible, even Jesus says some hateful stuff. In b4 citation fag.
- Jon20usa, on 05/17/2008, -3/+2What exactly hateful does Jesus say?
This was obviously just a little joke by Huckabee. Don't take things so seriously people.
- Jon20usa, on 05/17/2008, -3/+2What exactly hateful does Jesus say?
- Checkerd, on 05/17/2008, -5/+4As a "hater", I don't appreciate you lumping me and my people in with those assholes. We hate everyone and everything, those guys just hate people that are different.
- macweirdo42, on 05/17/2008, -16/+57Oh man, can you imagine the response if Obama had made this comment about McCain or something to that effect? The press would be howling for blood, and all the neocons would start screaming about how this proves that all of the insinuations about Rev. Wright were true and that Obama is a black supremacist.
- apackofmonkeys, on 05/17/2008, -2/+0Yeah, right.
- Nanobe, on 05/17/2008, -6/+3Really, this whole thing is no different than if Obama joked that McCain might be ducking bullets at a pro-choice convention. He was poking fun at the obvious unpopularity of Obama among NRA folks. His wording was poor, but it was just an off-the-cuff joke and it looks like Huckabee even regretted his choice of words just after he said it.
- plimpton777, on 05/17/2008, -14/+6*****
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB9cj38WeCY - Destined86, on 05/17/2008, -9/+22Another crazy reverend mouths off. When will it stop?
- dumpyhumpy, on 05/17/2008, -19/+9While I hate Republican politics, and Karl Rove, and The Republican machine in general, Huckabee seems like a genuinely nice guy most of the time (though politically wayward). The "joke" was horrifically absurd, true, but he always does impromptu metaphors and stuff... It's kinda part of his gimmicky-appeal. His commentary during the West Virginia primary this past Tuesday was actually very interesting. He was even called on to respond to speculation about him running for VP and they got him to respond immediately.
My general rule of thumb is: Keep our politicians talking as much as possible. It's the only way to understand their motives and actions, and it's the only way to get answers and hold them accountable to their past statements. This man may be our next vice president. We should welcome frequent debate and discussion. Banishing him from publicly televised statements will not fix any problems. - lhbaker, on 05/17/2008, -15/+6This is everything we need in a VP: A rascist zealot with zero tact. He'll fit right in.
- masterm1nd, on 05/17/2008, -2/+2Where do you get racist from? He actually defended Obama and Wright.
- Clouse, on 05/17/2008, -1/+1I think he meant fascist*. If you'll notice, the "R" and "F" keys are awfully close to one another.
- masterm1nd, on 05/17/2008, -2/+2Where do you get racist from? He actually defended Obama and Wright.
- MurphyWatson, on 05/17/2008, -8/+26The whole nice guy image is *****. Didn't anyone read about his tenure as Governor of Arkansas.
- Simonft, on 05/17/2008, -7/+10By the title of the article on digg, i thought it meant that Huckabee should be assassinated.
- afruff23, on 05/17/2008, -1/+5Same here. I would have found it funny if the article intended that while decrying jokes about assassination.
- DeadFox1, on 05/18/2008, -1/+1i would wager a small bet the submitter intentionally cut it off there.. clever!
- bensone1, on 05/17/2008, -12/+3***** THING SUCKS!!!!
- MJDub, on 05/17/2008, -4/+2Context. Learn to observe it.
- AndrewDB, on 05/17/2008, -13/+6Isn't Huckabee's comment a Thought Crime (that's mentioned in the Thought Crime bill that was passed a few days/weeks ago)?
One of the definitions as defined in the bill is shown below.
VIOLENT RADICALIZATION- The term `violent radicalization' means the process of adopting or promoting an extremist belief system for the purpose of facilitating ideologically based violence to advance political, religious, or social change.
--
So isn't it a Violent Radicalization that Huckabee said Obama should be assasinated?- taradisiac, on 05/17/2008, -4/+5"Huckabee said Obama should be assasinated?"
He didn't say that you little zealot. - xGORDOx, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1And by that logic Keith Olbermann should have been arrested years ago!
- taradisiac, on 05/17/2008, -4/+5"Huckabee said Obama should be assasinated?"
- HappyScrappy, on 05/17/2008, -7/+8I stopped reading when the author seemed to try to make a stupid joke like this into a crime instead of just a huge faux pas and indication that the speaker maybe isn't one you want to listen to.
- chrissku, on 05/17/2008, -8/+7Ahhh...it's alright. Let the republicans devour themselves before the public even has a chance to cast their vote for Obama. John McCain is toast.
- justiceape, on 05/17/2008, -7/+24This entire issue is completely retarded.
- MikeFallopian, on 05/17/2008, -0/+6The only sane post here...
- taradisiac, on 05/17/2008, -13/+12Obama misspeaks, so does his wife, and it was no big deal (I agree). Now a Republican makes a distasteful comment and he's the devil.
He was clearly talking about how liberals are afraid of guns. Granted, the joke failed (who hasn't been there?) and he apologized.
Mike Huckabee is a fundie but even I acknowledge he is not a racist. Look up his record as a priest and a governor.
Move on to something important, please. - buckrogers1965, on 05/17/2008, -8/+4When people blurt out things like this it's because they forget themselves and say what they have been saying 1000 times with friends and family.
This isn't an isolated incident, it's what all the racists are joking about in private, maybe even hoping for. - ralphthemagi, on 05/17/2008, -6/+7Who the ***** is Jeffery Feldman?
- chrissku, on 05/17/2008, -5/+5Well there goes his spot on the ticket.
- FLUX, on 05/17/2008, -14/+12HUFFINGTONPOST IS THE WEEKLY WORLD NEWS OF LIBERALISM
- NelsonR, on 05/17/2008, -3/+7Is this the same Huckabee that said our Constitution should be changed to reflect Christian Evangelical principles. The man is quite amusing that has devolved back to the era of Fire and Brimstone while they kill Iraqi's, for What?
Just another Repugnant Republican.- Gemfinder, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1Sure is.
And the same Huckabee who said that if Iowans didn't vote for him, they'd be shot...
And the same Huckabee whose son tortured a dog to death, and covered it up for him...
And the same Huckabee who said women should graciously submit to their husbands...
Wow, that Huckabee is such a funny guy! Whatta card! He should be dealt with.
- Gemfinder, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1Sure is.
- thunked, on 05/17/2008, -13/+0Typical jew opinion. "Ohh Abby, no publicity is bad publicity!" Censorship is an answer in USA? Disgusting Mr. Feldman.
- AsylumAleikum, on 05/17/2008, -2/+3As long as Hillary is in the race, Obama should be afraid, very afraid, and stay away from places visited by Vince Foster.
- boydrew, on 05/17/2008, -8/+6this is a non-issue. The way I read it is that he was using a metaphor (a poor one, certainly) meaning that if you give Obama an issue ("a gun") he will run away from it (This is a very common Republican attack on Obama). Again, this was a stupid thing to say on Huckabee's part (as Huckabee's metaphor is unbased as Obama has consistently approached issues), but he didn't call for an assassination or joke about assassination or whatever.
- xrod, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1Typical Republican apologetic spin. Pathetic.
- mustaphou, on 05/17/2008, -7/+9And the majority of people attacking Huckabee for this have said worse things in regards to President Bush. Stop being selective about what gets your panties in a bunch.
- AdamTReineke, on 05/17/2008, -5/+3It's all fun and games until someone jokes about Hillary. Then its hilarious!
- BaldGuy, on 05/17/2008, -5/+4What lesson have we learned here? If your gonna make a joke about assassinating a viable presidential candidate you better be damn sure it's funny.
If someone actually made a funny threat would it still be news? - Grantismo, on 05/17/2008, -5/+18Die Huffingtonpost, die!!!
On another note, here's the actual quote:
[loud bang heard off-stage]
"That was Barack Obama," Huckabee quipped, "He Just tripped off a chair. He was getting ready to speak. Somebody aimed a gun at him and he…he dove for the floor."
Yet another incident completely exaggerated. I by no means support Huckabee or McCain, but please stop this crap about "the media is against Obama." Just let Huckabee be judged by the voters, and if he truly offends many people, then he won't win.- djvchris, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1Check.
- MikeFallopian, on 05/17/2008, -4/+7The idea of anyone really getting offended by this is ludicrous. And yet the author of this piece is writing with a straight face about constitutional law and threats to assassinate the president. If I ever get so enveloped in partisan politics that I'm willing to write lengthy articles about dumb jokes made by The Other Party, please kill me.
- apackofmonkeys, on 05/17/2008, -5/+9Buried for Huffington spam.
- j.carcinogen, on 05/17/2008, -4/+4Not a fan of Obama or Huckabee, but jokes about killing someone or having guns aimed at a rival and insinuating that Obama would cower in fear is unacceptable not even remotely funny how you spin it.
According to the article he also joked about killing another of his GOP rivals. This is the candidate that evangelicals like? Strange how the evangelical wing of the GOP are always for more police/prisons and war. A shame they have made people confuse the word conservative with these 'social conservatives'. Conservatism in the political world is supposed to mean less government and regulation.
Shame on you Huckabee. - weside, on 05/17/2008, -6/+6People are blowing this way out of proportion. Personally, I want more Huckabee on TV. Hell, I want him in the White House.
McCain/Huckabee '08. - robthom, on 05/17/2008, -3/+3Buried for cliffhanger thread title trick.
- fudged71, on 05/17/2008, -3/+5Terrible submission.
Consider burying your own post - Wittyfish, on 05/17/2008, -3/+3You'd think he kicked a baby from all this reaction.
- microdude431, on 05/17/2008, -2/+4Go Huckabee...
At least this guy has a sense of humor. Of course everyone will jump all over it and it will be on the news for the next 10 weeks. - foolfoolz, on 05/17/2008, -3/+5Oh right, Huffington Post.
Front page. - Zuljin, on 05/17/2008, -3/+4You know, you kids should watch Huckabee talk.
I hate the dudes politics, but he is a cool speaker and a cool dude. He tried to devote his time and money to actually improve the world in his mind. You are really taking a small joke on the side way too far. - fiestycrumbler, on 05/17/2008, -3/+2in other news mike huckabee was shot. the gunman said duck mofo, he did not and now hes dead
- sheepster, on 05/17/2008, -1/+5UPDATE, 8:28 PM: Huckabee released the following statement regarding his comments Friday, according to the New York Times website:
During my speech at the N.R.A., a loud noise backstage, that sounded like a chair falling, distracted the crowd and interrupted my speech. I made an off hand remark that was in no way intended to offend or disparage Sen. Obama. I apologize that my comments were offensive. That was never my intention.
src: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/05/16/hu ... - dartmanx, on 05/17/2008, -3/+31. Huckabee may have just given up any possibility of sharing the ticket.
2. Do you honestly think there is NOT some redneck idiot wanting to shoot Obama?
I don't agree with his platform, but if he wins, he wins. Thats how it works. - waggdogg, on 05/17/2008, -4/+4Are all Huffington Post articals this lame? This must be the Huffington Obama post.
- hangtown2004, on 05/17/2008, -2/+3I call for Huckleberry... To stay off TV
- JointVenture, on 05/17/2008, -3/+5Oh this is too funny coming from the hattington post.
I remember going by and reading the comments about the movie where BUSH gets assassinated and all the comments were pro movie, people wishing it were true.
You should see what people were saying at the Hpost when Cheney had his heart attack.
What a bunch of hypocritical *****. - AnarchoGoth, on 05/18/2008, -3/+5Eddie Murphy joked about the First Black President and Assassination back in 1983
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NyvYwfZR38
I've seen Jesse in the gym, working the ***** out, too, for getting into shape.
You know he got a chance he can win.
White dudes like to do ***** like that...
...vote for the wrong dude as a goof.
They get drunk and ***** and go like:
"Let's vote for Jesse Jackson!"
"I just voted for Jesse Jackson!"
And next day would be like this:
"He ***** won?"
Jesse knows that ***** can happen. He gets in shape.
I've seen him running round the track and *****.
I said: "Why the ***** you getting in shape like this?"
He says: "'cos I'm gonna be the first black president."
"I have to give speeches like this:
(running around the stage)
'My fellow americans!
As your president I feel...'"
And dude be going: "He won't stand still!" - ricquejon, on 05/18/2008, -2/+3didn't he once say something like "ron paul is dead"?
he seems to have a morbid sense of humor... - Barackalypse, on 05/18/2008, -4/+0Silly liberals, politicians aren't actual people, they're parasites. We would all be better off without them.
- Mothrog, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1Funny how you imbeciles are all for threats against Bush, but when someone makes an off color joke, they deserve to be carted off to jail. So much for freedom of speech, eh dems? Buried for being a ridiculous piece of *****.
