Is Hillary Clinton Push Polling?
huffingtonpost.com — Didn't the Clinton campaign already get embarrassed about push polling in the Midwest early in this campaign and didn't she repudiate the practice? I find this kind of thing pretty shocking, and I think people should know it's going on.

- berryessence, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3I've received one of those calls in February...I told them I was an Obama supporter.
But I believe it was a Republican Nominee. I've also received a call from another firm about all 3 candidates at the time in January - tcbishop12, on 04/24/2008, -1/+10As others have aptly observed, instead of admitting that Hillary is losing (and has lost) the Democratic nomination, Hillary’s campaign is going viral with the idea that (1) because Obama hasn't yet officially won, he can't win and doesn't deserve to win and (2) because Hillary refuses to admit she's lost, only she can win and deserves to do so.
This, of course, is completely illogical. But hey, the statistics clearly show that Hillary’s voters are the most uneducated of us, so go figure.
Despite Hillary’s new spin, the actual facts of this election are pretty stubborn things. James Zogsby said “The numbers are clear: Clinton cannot surpass Obama's elected delegate total in the contests that remain. It is not unlike a fifty-two lap motor race. In the first forty-three laps, Obama has passed her twice, and built up a lead that is insurmountable. Now, in the midst of the 44th lap, it only appears to be close, but it is not.” He also said that if this campaign were focused on issues and a debate over competing visions of leadership, most of us would say, "Let it continue."
But that has not been the case. Given the disgusting, unethical, pathologically deceitful behavior of the Clinton campaign to date and penchant for engaging in the “politics of personal destruction”, and with the expectation this behavior will surely continue, I believe that prolonging this agony will only create deeper division. For this reason, it should end now.- marabout40, on 04/24/2008, -0/+6"But hey, the statistics clearly show that Hillary’s voters are the most uneducated of us, so go figure." You said it, not me!
- cheezeme, on 04/25/2008, -3/+2unpossible. The uneducated voting in democrat primaries, you don't say. I guess that fits my picture democrats.
- smacksaw, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2Speaking of uneducated, I love how her supporters say they won't vote for Obama.
These people won't vote Obama because of what they DON'T know about him. But we won't vote Hillary because of what we DO know about her.
That is why there is ZERO hope that someone like me will vote Clinton. I'll write in Ashcroft/Rumsfeld before I vote for Hillary. I know what I have seen and heard. But these Clinton supporters who won't support Obama, there is some hope they can be educated.
I think the classic example was 60 Minutes in Ohio when the guy whose wife was mistreated by the hospitals and was sick said that Obama was a Muslim. These people either don't know the facts, in which they can be helped, or are incapable of the facts, which means they're a lost cause no matter what. But people who have changed parties or registered to vote for Obama more than make up for that small, ignorant lot.
- maggiesimpson8, on 04/24/2008, -1/+7Just wait and see if Hillary's campaign starts accusing the Obama campaign of push polling - I have noticed a pattern where they consistently accuse their opposition of doing something they are doing. BLAH BLAH BLAH - old politics - i hope the days are numbered of this type of thing.
- mreal197, on 04/25/2008, -1/+3If true, this is the most honest tactic her campaign has employed since the campaign started.
- cheezeme, on 04/25/2008, -5/+2Are you going to vote for McCain when Hillary gets the nomination?
- abby11, on 04/25/2008, -8/+1ARE YOU OR YOUR KIDS GONNA SIGN UP OR BE DRAFTED TO IRAQIRAN CLINTON McBUSCH WARS?I HOPE YOU SOME DAY REALIZE THE ABSOLUTE HYPOCRACY OF THE "republican"CANIDATES!IF NOT GOODLUCK AND I WILL PRAY FOR YOUR DISFUNCTIONAL SOUL! OH AND ***** ON COMPLETELY MAKING A MOCKERY OUT OF OUR COUNTRY!AND BY ALL I MEAN EVERYONE WHITE BLACK ASIAN HISPANIC
NATIVE AMERICAN.SO ALL YOU RACIST BIGOTS DO NOT TRY IT!- brycelb, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1That was surprisingly lucid, but I must admit I was wearing my anti-crazy glasses.
- AshamedAmerican, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3Buried for the sake of my eyes.
- grahambot, on 04/25/2008, -1/+5Hey, this kind of campaign tactic must stop. End the Drama, vote Obama. For fans of good acoustic music, check out the hero of this push-poll story, David LaMotte. He's got some great skills on the guitar, and he's a highly educated humanitarian who has chosen the right candidate to support in North Carolina.
- schroeder, on 04/25/2008, -3/+2That's not as bad as last election when Puff Daddy threatened to kill me if I didn't vote. Then he said something about 2Pac not even being registered.
- airwalkery2k, on 04/25/2008, -0/+3Is Hillary Clinton Push Polling? Yes!
Either that, or that telemarketer really likes to phrase his questions in the form of "Obama Bash". - FairDinkumMate, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1Push Polling? What's that? We're just making sure that he can stand up to the Rove style attacks from the Repugs if he wins the nomination. You've got to understand we just don't want to have an unprepared candidate come November so really we're working really hard for the Democratic Party - in fact, we think the Obama campaign should pay half the cost of this polling because after all, it's being done for the party, not just for us!
- smacksaw, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2I think that if anything this is likely to galvanise anyone with a brain to reject Hillary. Those who would believe something like this were going to support her anyway. In the end, it's counter-productive. Swing voters are Obama supporters.
- sallysusan, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1Hillary Clinton is very DANGEROUS beware.
- farkis, on 04/25/2008, -1/+1Oh come on, everyone does it, you can't tell me others in that party haven't done this, especially Al Gore. When its alleged Hillary is behind it all of a sudden it's news. They need to change the rules for poles.
- ryan83189, on 04/25/2008, -1/+2"Are you going to vote Hilary, or do you hate America?"
- Obama4Change, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1Both Clintons=Dirty Politics!!!
- selfgiant, on 04/25/2008, -0/+2I actually know David LaMotte and can vouch for his character here...
It's always funny to see folks you know in the news, but even more so here. Because David is an award-winning singer-songwriter who's actually written a song about political spin!!!
It's called SPIN, and I blogged about it this morning here:
http://www.ericfolkerth.com/wheneftalks/files/davi ...
The morale I draw:
Never try to spin a guy who's written a song about it...oh yeah...and who has a tape recorder handy!!
