Iowa: The Perfect Outcome For Ron Paul
nolanchart.com — Things could have not turned out better for Congressman Ron Paul in Iowa for the Republican presidential race. Let's face it, at this time Ron Paul cannot yet win a one on one or three way contest in the Republican race. He is by far one of the most spectacular candidates to run in the Republican field in a long time. However, he is not some willy

the race has just begun - Spectre74, on 01/04/2008, -1/+22People just hope RP supporters believe it's over so they don't have to fight them. That's not going to happen. Paul's campaign knows what it is doing, and I don't believe they are disheartened in the least. This is a realistic result, and realistically a good one.
- awrsailor, on 01/04/2008, -0/+3Yah I can't believe people are discouraged in any way. 10% means it's for real, in a state where all the farmers are on the subsidy dole and the Republican establishment is of course hostile. While that will be true across the board, many places will have a lot of new voters. McCain and Thompson were just a few percentage points ahead. The whole thing on the Republican side is just up for grabs and that's good news. It's not easy changing the direction of a party establishment, they're always going to be entrenched and resistant. But no one can legitimately say at this point that Paul is not for real, and that's a major accomplishment. Now you just keep plugging. The leaders are all so deeply flawed and so obviously doomed to lose in November that even the party hacks may have to come around eventually. Patience, people.
- vincebodie, on 01/04/2008, -1/+17Presidents have been elected with MUCH worse showings in Iowa than Dr. Paul got.
- expat002, on 01/04/2008, -17/+2LOL but every online poll had the racist winning.
- Spectre74, on 01/04/2008, -3/+5You weren't even on the polls, what are you talking about?

- Charlie230, on 01/04/2008, -0/+15I voted in my Iowa caucus for Ron Paul. There were 217 people there. That was a lot for our precinct. Romney got 79 votes (not a surprise, we have a big Mormon church nearby), Paul got 18 votes. Considering that second place was Huckebee with 38 I think we could have won 2nd just didn't get enough people out. New Hampshire, you better work hard, it's not easy.
- Ragecloak, on 01/04/2008, -0/+14Paul supporters need to take this as a wake up call! This is not the end! We need to increase our efforts many times over. We are in our final hour here people.
- gandhi2, on 01/04/2008, -0/+6Of course it's not the end. Quite literally it's just the beginning. Iowa is the first state, and Paul is well set up for a steady climb based on his pre-campaign results in Iowa. I think it's important to not overreact about the results, even though you seem to be trying to get some support. Paul supporters need to be pragmatic about the results. They are in fact quite satisfactory. I think McCain and Thompson need a wake-up call before Paul. They somehow managed to let a fringe "kook" candidate nip at their heels. If you are going to increase your efforts, please do it by campaigning locally or signing up as a delegate in your state, or better yet, donating some money for early state campaigns, rather than rustling up a storm on Digg, where he's gotten as much coverage as can really be handled by anybody.
- MasterColdSoul, on 01/04/2008, -1/+3Or do all of the above! Ron Paul is worth it! I wish I could be like some people and paint my car Paul but I don't have the skills or money for that.
I say do whatever you can, the more you can the better if it supports paul - Charlie230, on 01/04/2008, -0/+1I think all the creative ways to get his name out are great but if you live in New Hampshire you have to go out to vote with a group of your friends and family. I wish I could have taken more than just myself to the Iowa caucus but my family and friends stay out of politics until the national election. Even I felt wierd going but I'm glad I did because I would have felt like crap if I didn't :)

- rolf, on 01/04/2008, -0/+18The primaries is a marathon. Someone may think they are doing the 100 yard sprint and will blow away the competition in the beginning, only to lose at the end.
New Hampshire is next week. That is our important milestone. Let us concentrate on that. - Sogui, on 01/04/2008, -13/+1You Ron Paul supporters spin the facts so hard I wouldn't be surprised if Fox called you for advice.
- MasterColdSoul, on 01/04/2008, -0/+10Remember Ron Paul has said himself he had wondered what it would be like if the primaries were a few weeks back. The RP Campaign has opened up online entry to be precinct captains, which allows more people to go door to door! I plan on hitting the street on Sunday with hundred of RP-SlimJims and RP-LibertyCards to do my part. I myself just talking to co-workers and relatives have gotten RP maybe 15 votes without going Door to Door so I plan on getting him another 100 in California if I can! :)
Don't give up! Keep fighting Ron Paul Supporter! Become a precinct captain at Ron Paul's GrassRootsCentral website!- clintontj72, on 01/04/2008, -0/+5Awesome! Keep fighting Patriots...we must keep it up to save the country! It is not about a single candidate...it is not even about Ron Paul...it is about the message! The message is what is powerful...we will infiltrate congress and everything else no matter what they do to our candidate!
- ithasacarb, on 01/04/2008, -0/+13Don't give up??? What I cannot believe what I am hearing. Jimmy Carter and the election Bush rigged in 2001 are the only two times that the person that won Iowa went on the be president. Think about giving up on November 5. And not until then, The Revolution is Strong, very Strong! Ron Paul 2008!!
- clintontj72, on 01/04/2008, -0/+6Exactly...we are very strong! Iowa is nothing...even though i'm an evangelical...I'm not ignorant like many Iowa evangelicals. We must continue to educate to teach people in depth. Ron Paul is not a 30 sec soundbite politician. It is work...yes...but we are educating the American electorate and showing them what true small government conservatism is. We are winning no matter what! Goldwater won in the end...and he did not carry the message as well as Ron Paul...we will defeat the socialists and neoconservatives in the end and set our people free...it is war...it is revolution...we will prevail! Do not get discouraged fellow Americans...we will show the light...the beacon of liberty of our founders to our fellow citizens!
- jmellicker, on 01/04/2008, -0/+1Never give up, never surrender!
No matter what happens this year, Ron Paul supporters are laying the groundwork for a major third political party. Watch out, neo-cons and socialists, the Freedom Party is about to be born!- Charlie230, on 01/04/2008, -0/+1It's a little early for this kind of talk. How 'bout getting people out to vote instead of imagining a future generation that will do what we should be doing now. And anyways the last thing we need is yet another political party, we need Ron Paul in office 2008.
I'm sure you've heard Paul explain he is a true Republican. This kind of Freedom Party talk is partly why some people keep bringing up the run as an independent question in interviews. Not helpful at all.

- badfishmedia, on 01/04/2008, -0/+1I love how before Iowa, RP supporters were talking about how he was going to surprise everyone and win it. Now that he didn't, they are like "Oh, well actually it is a good thing and this is exactly how we wanted it to go!"
- cswake, on 01/04/2008, -0/+1Is it not surprising that he got double digit support?
- badfishmedia, on 01/04/2008, -0/+1Since he was polling at 9%, no it is not.
- liltekgurl, on 01/05/2008, -0/+1aww that made me feel better ;)
