- Aphelion27, on 01/13/2008, -5/+14How can I be expected to vote for someone the POTUS who can't even spend more than he is allotted. Has this kook been listening to Dave Ramsey or something and living within his means.
I guess now the treasury department doesn't have to authorize the Federal Reserve to print an extra 75,000. - Hope4USA, on 01/13/2008, -6/+24Ron Paul is the President of the People!
- polymyxin, on 01/14/2008, -3/+7No he's not, he's the representative of Texas' 14th district.
- nymphetamine, on 01/14/2008, -8/+6You've convinced me! You are truly serving well by delivering His message! I'm voting for Dr. Ron Paul!
Please kill yourself.
- bonuscoach, on 01/13/2008, -3/+16Lead by example.
- KMye, on 01/14/2008, -4/+1Maybe he should take your advice and stop inserting earmarks for his district in budgets. The money he returns with these little shows pales by many orders of magnitude compared.
- 007brendan, on 01/17/2008, -0/+1Take a look at the voting records. When pork barrel budget appropriations occur, Ron Paul ALWAYS VOTES NO, but since the rest of congress is so eager to spend the taxes from his district, he tries his best to get the money back to them.

- kp998, on 01/14/2008, -3/+11Slings & arrows, we must be winning. Go RP!!!!!!
- ncairns, on 01/14/2008, -9/+3Did you miss the results in Iowa and New Hampshire?
SPOILER ALERT:
Ron Paul lost. Badly. - MaximusPryme, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1Next time we lose we'll just give up, because that's what character is. I hope in the coming years you grow up and realize that opposition and failure does not mean to you give up. If you never fail in your life, then you have never done anything in your life.
We're trying to stand up for something we believe in, and you are making sure people do not stand up for their beliefs. I am sorry, we do not submit to your dogma and want something to change. Maybe, just maybe, you will read this and learn how to argue with civility but more than likely you'll just be offended like a spoiled child. - PrincessLaura, on 01/16/2008, -0/+0Ron Paul made the right choice by running under the Republican ticket. He is getting to participate in the debates which is help getting his views out to the country and despite the fact that the other Republican candidates (and the whole Republican party) are critical of him, it definitely is starting to make waves. The more people see him, the more they will like the fresh views that he has to offer!

- polymyxin, on 01/14/2008, -15/+6FTA: "Considering Congressman Paul’s efforts helped to land nearly $50,000,000 in appropriations for crucial projects in this part of Texas last year ..."
On one hand, Ron Paul is spending about $75,000 less than he could have on desk chairs and snacks. On the other hand, he's keeping the federal spending machine going with $50,000,000 in appropriations.- DeviantDragon, on 01/14/2008, -3/+9That money is spent even if Paul did nothing with it.
- Aeuta, on 01/14/2008, -4/+6What has your own representative done for you? Where are they sending their money? Surely not back to their own people.
- polymyxin, on 01/14/2008, -1/+2Well, going by the Ron Paul standard (earmarks = tax refunds), my representative -- in fact, almost every representative -- is sending a heck of a lot back to their own people.
- q314, on 01/14/2008, -3/+12no, he's giving the taxpayers of his district their money back. He'd hand it back in cash if it was possible, but unfortunately until we change the system, he has to do it by the book.
- polymyxin, on 01/14/2008, -7/+1No, he's giving a very select few entities in his district very large gifts. If the end goal is to change the system, I fail to see how Ron Paul advocates for change by porking it up with the rest of Congress and directing federal funds to be spent on projects that clearly have no Constitutional authorization.
- vbullinger, on 01/14/2008, -0/+4Ron Paul votes AGAINST these massive spending bills. But, if they are to pass, he wants to make sure that legitimate concerns of his constituents are met. If he doesn't earmark it, who knows where it goes?
Earmarks are not bad: wasteful spending is bad.

Above is a pdf of all 65 earmarks congressman Paul requested for fiscal year 2008, totaling an estimated $400 million. Paul slips his earmarks into bills likely to pass, as all congressmen do but then votes against them so he can "honestly" say he never votes for pork projects. Point being, Ron reaches into the pork jar same as everyone else and saving us $75,000 in office budget is a hilariously token gesture.- nreynolds, on 01/14/2008, -3/+14he puts the earmarks in because if he didn't, the money would still be spent, and his district wouldn't get anything. *IF* the money is going to be spent, Paul has a responsibility to get a fair share for his district.
- ZenFountain, on 01/14/2008, -11/+4Ah, the old if everyone else is doing I should too argument?
- Nosnevets02, on 01/14/2008, -1/+5No, the old, "I'm a representative of my district so I'm going to give some money back to the people for improvements" argument.
- Qtip42, on 01/14/2008, -1/+4Well if he didn't do it, do you think he'd be representing anyone? cmon zen don't be an idiot.
- ZenFountain, on 01/14/2008, -4/+2I'm not being critical of the entire system of congressional appropriations, I know there are legitimate needs. I'm being critical of the way Paul tacks on as many, if not more appropriations than other congressmen and then votes against the bills they are riding on so he can say he doesn't vote for pork, as though the magic tooth fairy inserted those earmarks.
- Qtip42, on 01/14/2008, -4/+1Well I'm not the all knowing paul supporter but I'm sure there's got to be some hypocrisies going on if he wants to keep his position and also his strict views.

- RIMberry, on 01/14/2008, -1/+4He has to represent his disctrict......
- Qtip42, on 01/14/2008, -1/+4your link doesn't work. The guy needs to do his job if he's going to keep his position. You can't opt out of everything because it's against his viewpoints...You still have to play the game till you can move up high enough to change the entire system. He can't just magically talk his way to the presidency.
- ZenFountain, on 01/14/2008, -4/+1Sorry, here's the working link (hopefully), don't know why Digg appends links sometimes. You should be able to save as pdf.
