Hillary on Bosnia lie: "I'm human" - Notice no shame/apology
huffingtonpost.com — "So I made a mistake, that happens. It proves I'm human, which to some people is a revelation." After seeing on video, does anyone else think her "So" sounds a LOT like Cheney? You've gotta see it yourself to hear how insultingly flippant it actually sounds.

"You know I have written about this and described it in many different settings and I did misspeak the other day. This has been a very long campaign. **Occasionally, I am a human being like everybody else.** The military took great care of us. They were worried about taking a First Lady to a war zone and took some extra precautions and worried about all sorts of things. I have written about it in my book and talked about it on many other occasions and last week, you know, **for the first time in twelve-or-so years** I misspoke." - NameTry2468, on 03/25/2008, -2/+8Talk about spin! Trust me, Hillary, NOBODY ever believed you were infallible or superhuman... Nobody is surprised that you misled the American public. Nobody is amazed that you only fess up to your deceptions when you are caught on camera in direct contradiction. That you are either an opportunistic monster, yes I said it, or a pathological liar is not a revelation.
Know that a pathological liar is different from a normal liar in that a pathological liar believes the lie he or she is telling to be true—at least in public—and is "playing" the role. The only revelation I await is to see which one of the two (if not both) you really are.
ALSO - the fact that you admit you made a mistake, yet feel neither shame nor the urge to apologize leads me to believe that you are trying to pass off the story that you were somehow -confused- about the order of events that occurred. Not that you were being deliberately deceptive, for you refuse to admit that, but that your "human error" was confusion. You truly believe that you've been 100% honest with us for twelve years until just now? I know you're rocking the dumb white racist vote right now, but how dare you think the American people THAT stupid? - locamama, on 03/25/2008, -6/+2I would hate to know that every word that came out of my mouth for years at a time would be debated. This is not as big as a deal as they are making it out to be. And Hillary Clinton is NO Dick Cheney!
- NameTry2468, on 03/25/2008, -0/+3I would hate to have everyone scrutinizing to see if everything I've said in the past 12 years is true too! That's why you and I don't go around boasting ridiculous claims like "I've never lied in 12 years!" A reasonable person does not make these claims for fear that they'll actually be taken seriously. If you make that claim, prepare to stand by it.
This is a bigger deal than anything Obama's done so far, that Hillary sees absolutely nothing wrong in lying to the American people, because the fact that she's not the least bit sorry proves that deception is fair game to her, and calls into question her past statements. Obviously, Hillary is no Cheney, but the "so what?" flippancy with which she dismisses this is Cheney-esque. - kynn, on 03/26/2008, -0/+2Besides, this happens to be one instance in which she got caught red-handed, one rare instance in which the evidence was simply unavoidable. She fessed up only when it became clear to her that she was trapped, even though she had opportunities before to correct her mistake (remember when she dismissed Sinbad for being a comedian?)
I think one can reasonably suspect that some of her other statements are equally false, but not as easy to prove false. E.g. it would be much harder to summon indisputable evidence that her role in the negotiation of peace in Northern Ireland was much less significant than she cracks it up to be, but after this barefaced lie, a reasonable observer should be inclined to give more credence to those eye-witnesses who have scoffed at her claims of relevance.

- diggeradoo, on 03/26/2008, -0/+9Hillary Clinton made false claims about her trip to Bosnia not just once, but several times -- in at least three different months. That's not misspeaking, it's not an accident. It's a deliberate pattern. Let's review:
January 2: Clinton told NBC's Meredith Vieira "I was the first high-profile American to go into Bosnia after the Dayton Peace Accords." That claim was false -- Bill Clinton visited Tuzla on January 13, 1996, one month after the Dayton Peace Accords were signed.
February 29: Clinton said that during her trip to Bosnia the welcoming ceremony "had to be moved inside because of sniper fire," a claim we now know to be false.
March 17 speech: Clinton repeated the Bosnian sniper fire tale, throwing in some additional detail about running from the plane to the cars -- another false claim.
March 17 press availability: Clinton stood by her version story, even when pressed by reporters.
Also on March 17: Clinton twice used former Army Secretary Togo West to defend her version of events, first in the introduction to her speech and then during her press availability. http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/3/25/105346 ...- AdrianaL, on 03/26/2008, -0/+1Thanks for the information, What did everyone thing of the comments of Chelsy? when asked how she handle bill and Monica? She told that person it is none of their business. WOW I told my husband she is just like her mother a real B@@@@ she will be the next woman to run.
- jforjools, on 03/26/2008, -1/+3First, Carville asserts that she is Jesus (via the claim that Richardson is Judas.)
Today, is Hillary asserting that some think she is God (since it's a surpise to some that she's human)?
Well, in any case--at least she and Bill are both being really nice to dear old John McCain. I'm beginning to think that she truly would like McCain to win over Obama. Bill, for one, can't stop talking about what a truly great guy (and candidate) he is. - oceanrain, on 03/26/2008, -0/+2Hillary does not deserve to be President. Pennsylvania, will you please wake up and not vote for this pathological liar and scumbag who has no ounce of integrity, honesty, or accountability!
- SheilaNoya, on 03/26/2008, -1/+7Hillary did NOT lie about Bosnia. You can clearly see the sniper fire and the bombs going off around her in this newly released video. :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHVEDq6RVXc - CryRightardCry, on 03/26/2008, -5/+1Why do rightards pretend to expect Dems to have more ethics and integrity than their own people?
How many blatant lies has Bush and Cheney told that they didn't apologize for?
How many direct LIES have come out of the Bush administration and been let go?
Yeah, I agree she shouldn't lie, but the rightard mobs are so dishonest as to pretend they don't do the same damn thing every damn day.
Rightard hypocrisy.
But yeah, bust her for lying. Just do it for EVERYONE. It's called integrity rightards. Look into it.- RuffRidr, on 03/26/2008, -0/+4This is hysterical coming from you. You're the poster child for calling out one side but then totally ignoring your own party doing the same thing. Hypocrisy, thy name is Dave.
