Hillary Clinton is the One Who Can't Close the Deal
eyesonobama.com — After the Pennsylvania primary, many news stories are leading with the idea that Barack Obama can't close the deal. But they're overlooking the fact that Hillary Clinton had the nomination in her hand, and squandered it away, and ultimately, has lost it. De Stael argues that Clinton is the one who couldn't close the deal -- and it's a valid point.

- Debmood, on 04/23/2008, -1/+4Popular President? Wasn't he impeached by the U. S. House of Representatives during his last term in office? Should be disgraced President now suffering from dementia.
The Media is following Hillary's lead. Sounds like something Wolf Blitzer, Lou Dobbs and the others who have been bought by the Hillary Klan. Obama will close the deal and if he doesn't, say hello to President McCain. McCain is who Hillary is really campaigning for. She can't stand the thought of losing to Senator Obama.
By the way, CNN stands for Clinton News Network!- feebie, on 04/24/2008, -1/+5Bill Clinton was very popular before his impeachment.
He left office with an approval rating of 65%, which is quite high for someone being impeached.
A funny/disturbing fact: G.W. Bush held the highest approval rating in history (92%) after 9/11. But he now is the current record holder for lowest approval rating ( I think I read somewhere that it's now at 16%), and he is still in office.- feebie, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/i ...
- theaceoffire, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Bill also was very popular after his impeachment. Comedy guys loved it, and he got a lot of screen time looking like the embarrassed manlyman.

- capj71, on 04/23/2008, -5/+2I think the more important questions are why does he keep losing big traditional Democratic states, and what is he going to do to connect with older, white, blue collar, voters. This whole closing the deal argument is more perception than reality.
- feebie, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2You're totally right. And this whole campaign has been based on perceptions.
A lot of people in America are quite misinformed about both candidates. The media has slagged off an hasn't done their job of reporting, unbiased, the issues that people need to know about. There are many people out there who view Hilary as the evil one and Barack as the saint, and vice versa, and it really shouldn't be a war between Democratic candidates like that. They're of the same party, yet their dukes are up as if they are not. I think it's confusing to the American people, and many are basing their votes off of rumour and non-issues. This is why people are increasingly becoming upset with Hilary for going negative - because she's promoting this form of politics, and not doing much to stop it. Yet, there are people who feel her negative campaigning has been a farce, raising their spirits and seeing it as a strength rather than a weakness. - jforjools, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4The reason why he can't close the deal? that's just all spin talk. Everyone KNOWS neither one of them can get the most delegates without one of them totally screwing up OR without all the superdelegates weighing in (which we know that all of them won't do that til it's down to the wire.)
Everyone--including Clinton's campaign--says it's impossible for either side to close the deal.
The real question truly is why Clinton couldn't close the deal earlier on. She did have the muscle and the money to do this and she just dropped the ball. Mis-spent her money and didn't even have a post-super-tues. plan. So, if anyone wants to ask the closing it would be of Clinton.
..But at this point in the race, it's just illogical to ask it of either candidate.

- Kangalanatolian, on 04/23/2008, -6/+3Clinton was impeached for bogus reasons that actually earned him more support in the long run. The Clintons have lots of dirt on the fading power elite from their era. They illegally accessed FBI files when he was president. The best defense is a great offense.
If you want to know the kind of people they are see "The Clinton Chronicles" on YouTube. Their era is fading, as do they all.
Obama, on the other hand, has REAL, ongoing and significant ties to racists, in spite of his refreshingly non-racist demeanor. His opposition to the war in Iraq is not based on any principles found in the constitution, so don't be surprised to find American troops in Africa and Pakistan in a couple of years. He is as poor a substitute for Ron Paul as John McCain is.- jforjools, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4Clinton is the only president that got dis-barred. (And stil is dis-barred, of courrse.) Even if you like Bill, you gotta admit he's the biggest living target for the GOP.
and that ***** about Obama (as racist, etc) is quite the pile of just that: *****. - tgrk35, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1If I hear another Ron Paul comment, I'll cry.
