Dick Morris & Eileen McGann: WRONG ON OBAMA
pr1.netatlantic.com — President Bush has no credibility to criticize sharply direct negotiations with anybody, including Iranian President Ahmadinejad, having only lately learned the concept, and only practiced war. Tell Morris that Obama ’s embrace of the idea of direct negotiations is akin to Kennedy, Reagan, and Nixon's bravery dealing with foes.

- SheilaNoya, on 05/17/2008, -0/+5It's funny how Ronald Reagan was hailed as a foreign policy hero for being brave enough to meet our enemies face-to-face, yet the Republicans now claim that talking to the enemy is "appeasement" and shows weakness.
The Democrats should run some ads showing Reagan being tough and meeting with the leaders of the Soviet Union (our biggest nuclear threat at the time) - then show current footage of Bush & McCain, jointly calling it "appeasement" and babbling on about how it shows our weakness and emboldens our enemies. The tag line should be something like: "Do Bush & McCain really think Ronald Reagan was a weak leader who appeased our enemies?". Followed by: "Remember when we had a foreign policy that actually worked?"
Follow-up ads should show Obama giving one of his speeches and correctly saying we that we need to talk to our friends AND our enemies if we are ever going to reach any solutions.
OK - I'm babbling, but you get the gist.
