Many would argue that if the enemy of an enemy is a friend, then a friend of an enemy is an enemy - whom swearing allegiance to would be considered treasonous. Not saying I believe this personally, but it is a valid argument.
Taking an oath is an act of faith to some degree and, IMO, Israel hasn't quite earned it
