        Ted does not belong in the same group as Hitler or Pol Pot because it's not even comparable. But in your logic he does. It doesn't matter if it's genocide or negligence, millions of lives or a single life, a killer is a killer.

        If you can't elevate Hillary to Obama's level you're content to drag him down to hers. I, for one am not going to stand for your ***** or of the people like you. Compare Hillary to Bush if you like. Compare Obama to Kucinich. But make it relative and not total fantasy.

          You honestly think Obama is a huge step above Clinton? I don't want to make this into a debate whether which candidate is better here because everyone has a different opinion on such issues (fyi I like Obama far more then Clinton) and I can respect that, but that is completely ridiculous. Had digg not been flipped to anti-Clinton/pro-Obama mode (and I can comply considering this is what the site is made for) we'd get just as much ***** smear submittions on Obama. An example I could think of at the top of my head, and I'm sure there is a counter to it, but earlier in his campaign he said he doesn't take money from oil companies, well not only is that already illegal, but they were actually his top contributors.

          Obama is no God, and he isn't by a nail farther then candidates like Clinton or McCain as far as decency, and certainly hardly compares with Kucinich, or at least as far as I've seen from Kucinich. Once again though, none of those things are even relatively relevant in politics, POLITICAL POSITIONS are and if you're running a smear they should be the focus. I normally do not like to involve myself in Obama/Clinton threads, but come on, you're calling a person psychopathic and insulting them based on your own political view?

Hillary says a lot of things and then does something completely contrary. People can say a lot of things, but it comes down to HOW they say it. If you are psychotic (psychopath or sociopath) like Hillary, you can feign human emotions, but people who have real emotions can smell there's something sour.

            Obama passes. Obvious things like "practising what he preaches" and subtle things like passing the smell test. Obama has written so many cheques on bipartisanship that if his ass can't cash them, he will be the lamest duck president ever. Hillary has no intent of reforming Washington or removing arch-partisanship from it. Obama has said too many things he can't take back without losing all credibility.

Because of this, the languages fused, and became the lingua franca of East to Central Africa. There are lots Arabic words, sayings and meanings in Swahili. The further towards Kenya's coastline you travel, the more like guttural Arabic and the less like Swahili it sounds.

      Take the well-known Swahili proverb, "Haraka, haraka haina baraka", which translates to "hurrying has no blessing." Another example would be "malaika", from the Arabic "malak" (meaning "angel"), and can also be found in Hebrew as "mal'ach"

      Anything else in your above statement that may have been lost in translation, eh? Turns out the Osama's name is, in fact, 100% Swahili. English too has Arabic words, things like "alcohol", "algebra" to name just a two in the list of thousands. Are we too then Arabic? A name does not a person make.

The 'win at any cost' streak that emerges -- her ability to lie, manipulate, and spin -- is done in a soul-less way. (Because we all know that all politicians lie, manipulate and spin -- I just wish that somewhere behind it all, the manipulator was doing it for someone other than herself.) I think folks are right to defend to right to stay in the race. But one would hope that she might do an un-Clintonesque thing and look at what her continuation is doing to us all -- goodness knows I'm showing signs of battle fatigue!

      It's the old trick of pointing randomly out into the crowd, and then creating a false story about some imaginary person to support whatever you are talking about in your speech at that moment.

      Bill Clinton invented this political posturing lie. He'd point out into the crowd, and say "just like Marjorie Tragiclife, a single mother who takes the bus for 6 hours at 4 in the morning to get to her job that pays 20 cents an hour, so she can pay the medical bills of her 3 year old daughter who has malaria and diptheria" and "let's not forget Billy Smackmybottom, the 6 year old who took up a paper route, delivering newspapers in 27 feet of snow so he could help pay for his mother's toe cancer treatment".

      It's a political ploy designed to pull at the emotions of intellectually dull people.

        The black guy responded, "Maam, I am a Colonel in the United States Marines. I am not a bellboy."

        Hillary stared at him, unable to comprehend that the only black person among a bunch of uniformed white people could possibly not be the baggage handler.

        There were several other stories like that, where she wasn't outright racist, but had an inclination to assume that the black person in the room was a servant or at least of lower rank than the white people.

It's fair to assume that future politicians (at the coaching of their advisers) will use this campaign cycle as an example of what to avoid doing in the future.

He's honest, he doesn't shy away from tough issues, and he hasn't (so far) sold out to corporate sponsors. While his campaign is more adept at using technology than the others, the root of his success is good old-fashioned politics: listening to the people, understanding what's important to them, providing direction, and inspiring them to participate in solving their country's problems.

      The rules have not changed. We're just questioning the rules. But if the rules had changed, Ron Paul would have been the GOP nominee. He would have had fair coverage, opportunity to debate and all of the access and privileges that the establishment candidates enjoyed. There was an incredible wave of support that was suppressed by the elites of politics and it was a huge task. While they focused on that, Obama quietly slipped through. In my mind, I think Ron Paul is very responsible for Obama's success because there was a lot more effort and focus on suppressing Paul while at the same time Obama would have been scrutinised into oblivion, but he was not. By the time the media turned to Obama he already was unstoppable and with no one left to put the screws to, it fell to Clinton.
      • PhilLesh69, on 04/06/2008, -1/+2It's sort of funny that just about the time Ron Paul dropped out of the Race, Obama made a speech that propelled him into the front-runner space, or at least made him the powerhouse he has become.

        In that speech, he spoke to many of the things that Ron Paul campaigned on. I wish I could remember the speech, where it was, what he said, exactly, all I remember is that when I heard him give that speech, I was actually sort of considering supporting him because it was like he had read the things that Ron Paul supporters had been posting on blogs and comments all over the internet. I think it was the genesis speech of his "Yes We Can" campaign slogan.

I mean, that's right out of the libertarian playbook. Libertarian-leaning Republicans would eat that ***** up if Goldwater had said it.

          I think a lot of Paul and Obama speeches were probably very close, since both made it part of their platform to remove influence and corruption of Washington. Where they diverge is that I don't think Paul would have passed legislation. He would have used restraint and encouraged it. And I think Obama agrees, but he's still a left-leaning legislator, and if corrupt partisan influence cannot be purged, I think he'd abridge the "freedoms" these people enjoy by making it difficult for them to operate.

          I only wish there were more people who thought this way. It doesn't matter who you support, as long as you support that person with an informed and realistic perspective.

          Unfortunately, even for those of us who try hard to be informed, it is difficult to know if what we believe is "informed" is actually truthful, or just what a candidate wants us to believe in order to support them.

          God help the people who vote based on "I'd have a beer with him" or "I like the way he speaks", or "I don't like blacks/women/old people in office" or whatever other shallow judgements. God help those people who spend 15 minutes every 4 years in deciding who they want to support. God help those folks who are too dumb to figure any of this out.

        Granted, we all slip up. I type at around 70 wpm, and of course I can do things like type "I neevr maek mistakse", and since I have my 15.4" laptop monitor set to 1920 x 1200 and sit about 4 or 5 feet back from it, the text is really small and I don't always catch my misspellings. And I am really bad with the "I before E except after C" rule when typing on the fly. But in the case of brownrecluse, these aren't just mistakes, these are examples of being a little bit less proficient with the english language.

        I'm just saying. Usually you can tell the difference between a mistake in typing and a person who doesn't know any better.

        Like Bush saying "Newkular". An example of someone who learns words by hearing them, as opposed to reading them. Like the people who say, "For all intensive purposes", they obviously learned that phrase by hearing others speak it, and misconstruing it. Anyone who learned that phrase by reading it will know that it is "for all intents and purposes".

          The use of where, I'll admit is a minor error, but it is still an indication of someone who misunderstands the english language, or is incapable of writing clearly. Okay, I dated a copy editor when I worked at a personal finance magazine, so I may be a little more sensitive to this sort of thing, but what does the writer of the above sentence mean? remember the ***** at the place showing the press conferences? or remember the ***** where you are, watching press conferences?

          The joke copy editor geeks like to tell is...

          Q: "How many copy editors does it take to screw in a light bulb."

          A: "That depends, do you mean change a light bulb, or have sex in a light bulb"

          Not exactly the same thing, but you get my point. Being able to write so that it is clear what you mean is important.

          And, yes, there are formal writing guidelines "on the internet", because the internet is not some new world with new rules. If you are writing in english, the rules of english grammar and spelling still apply. If you write in chinese, those rules apply. Same with french, or italian, or farsi. It is not like they changed the rules of grammar and spelling moving from books, to magazines, to the internet. If you want to be understood, and taken seriously, you have to be able to communicate properly.

    • themonkman, on 04/06/2008, -1/+1The reason I don't believe this story is even practical or really possible is that most all states have laws that if you visit the ER, you must be treated regardless of your ability to pay. They bill you afterwards, anyways. Most all states also have programs to help pay the bill after your treated if you claim financial hardship. My fiancee had to do that one time. This is the reason why many ER's are strained because you have tons of uninsured and a lot of illegal aliens visiting it as if it where the office of their primary care doctor. This is also why it takes 5-8 hours to be seen, especially when many hospitals are closing down their ER's due to the problem and financial losses to them.

I regard her as a bad manager in this instance, not making sure her people were vetting this stuff. Meanwhile the I-ducked-snipers story does count toward pathological liar status.

    Do people miss checkups because of high medical costs, and thus potentially miss life-threatening conditions? Yes. Worse, people with the means -- insurance and enough money for co-pays and deductibles -- often neglect preventative medical care. But the latter does not justify John Edwards-style arrests for not going to your doctor, and the former does not allow us to ignore the free-rider effect and other perverse economic issues of any sort of health-care "liberalization."

    My hero continues to be someone I am also jealous of: The guy who got my long-time best friend pregnant and who not only stepped up right away, but gave up his high-rate consulting in favor of a full-time job with full medical insurance. In the meantime a close relative has teenagers and an unhealthy wife yet has never had good medical coverage, preferring his consulting rate yet wasting most of his money on weed.

    My answer to those people is that that if your person is really to win the Whitehouse, some actual honesty should be involved. She was specific about the person and the hospital.     My question to the Clinton supporters out there is simpy this.

    Is it OK with you that your candidate lies and distorts so much? This is one in a long series of lies that do not seem to be matched by other people in the race.
