Clinton Heckled, Obama Cheered Over 'Bitter' Remarks
huffingtonpost.com — It is too early to assess what lasting impact this story is going to have on the race, but the way the audience at the Alliance For American Manufacturing forum in Pittsburgh received the candidates, and reacted to the issue, will be heartening for the Obama camp.

- gobarack, on 04/14/2008, -14/+94People know that Hillary is hollow. She just doesn't ring true. Barack is the real deal, so even when he makes a mistake in the way he says something, people know that he was trying to get across a genuine point that helps people. I can't wait until he is president!
- Klisk, on 04/14/2008, -56/+5Barack is a prick. Hillary is just disliked because she doesn't have a penis. Otherwise she'd surely be leading right now, it's hard to deny she's the better candidate once you get past gender. Sexism is definitely more powerful than racism nowadays, that's for sure. Obama seems like a huge, empty liar with no substance or will to change anything. Just TALK about it. He'll be led around like a puppy by the people around him once he's in office. He doesn't have the bitchiness, or the balls, to really stick to what he wants.
- actorboy, on 04/14/2008, -3/+29Thou art delusional.
- nospinhere, on 04/15/2008, -3/+1The Obama Post strikes again!
- Drahkar, on 04/14/2008, -1/+23Hillery is a self-center, Egotistical power grubber. She will lie and cheat to get what she wants and pays little heed to the actual needs of this country. Frankly the fact that she is not in the lead gives me a little hope of this country that maybe they will finally elect someone who isn't out to try and butcher this country's liberties and out personal rights even more for their own pocketbook.
- Klisk, on 04/14/2008, -15/+2This is fine, but in years from now when Obama is in office, and everyone is regretting their Bush 2.0 decision, are you going to stick to your guns or flip flop?
I'll vote for Hillary even though I'm aware it won't make a difference due to the impressionable youth being on Obama's side.- actorboy, on 04/14/2008, -2/+9Wait, Obama is Bush 2.0? Have you noticed that Hillary is the one using GOP talking points to attack Obama?
- Drahkar, on 04/15/2008, -0/+5That's the most off base comment I've heard about Obama yet. There is absolutely no concern on -anyone's- part that Obama is Bush 2.0. More that they are concerned that he won't be able to effectively lead the country which I think is a stupid fear. He certainly couldn't do any worse than Bush has. And I highly doubt he'll even be close to that.
You go ahead and vote for the lying and self-centered wench. You will quickly find even fewer liberties for the American people in the name of protecting the state. You have to remember that Hillary may label herself a Democrat, but in reality she is Neo-Con through and through. She does not have your best interests in mind. Only her and those who stand to make money off her getting into office.
- Klisk, on 04/14/2008, -15/+2This is fine, but in years from now when Obama is in office, and everyone is regretting their Bush 2.0 decision, are you going to stick to your guns or flip flop?
- UncleCrapper, on 04/14/2008, -1/+31Hillary the better candidate? Absolutely! The better candidate for liars, lobbyists, corporate interests, war mongers, and those who want to further entrench the status quo in Washington.
You just don't get it, do you? It has nothing to do with whatever organs do or do not hang between her legs. It has everything to do with the fact that Hillary is simply not the best candidate for president, period. It is simplistic, childish thinking that rejecting this one female candidate is somehow representative of rejecting all female candidates.- Elum, on 04/14/2008, -0/+12I agree with you in your entire statement. In fact I think it would be a shame to allow her to be the first women president for it would likely increase the amount of sexism against women because of how poorly she would represent America.
- kipmartin, on 04/14/2008, -1/+25there are plenty of women out there who would make a better president, be more electable, and not resort to lying and backbiting to win. sorry, but this isnt sexism. its simply that Hillary has told several lies, employs dirty tricks like a republican, voted 7 times with Bush on his war, and comes from the old school as the candidate favored by the bosses and the power elite. it has nothing to do with the fact that shes a woman.
you are grabbing at straws.
and like i said, no one argues content from your side anymore. you have been relegated to name calling (your first sentence, no less!), ad hominum attacks, and resentment. if you look at policy, the ability to create concensus, and substance, you inevitably have to give it to Obama because Hillary, though not bereft of positions and policy, is lacking in the ability to argue those points.
remember all the battles youve lost. 'He has no sunstance!', 'He has no experience!', and 'He has no policy!". all those arguemnts havent withsstood scrutiny so now you are reduced to name calling. you sound like a 4th grader.
Shame on you!!- Klisk, on 04/14/2008, -13/+1This is digg, you're supposed to act like a 4th grader.
Realistically I have yet to see how he proved himself to have ANY substance at all. He seems like someone with plenty of IDEALS that will get tossed to the side once the people around him in office pressure him and he caves to them. - Spartycus, on 04/15/2008, -0/+2While I agree with most of what you've said, I'd like to point out that Hillary's lying, name-calling and dirty tricks are hardly "like a Republican". It would be far more accurate to say that they are reminiscent of the "old regime" of politics in general.
For nearly a century, the politician who can get away with the dirtier tricks has been the frontrunner. I'd like to think that as a society we are finally starting to recognize this tactic for what it is and are demanding that our leaders represent what we perceive are our nobler traits.
Sadly though, I feel more as though like its just the media spin of this election and that dirty politics will continue to reign supreme as the decisive way to get elected in the future as well. Why have a good platform when you can just bash your opponents and his/her character as well?
- Klisk, on 04/14/2008, -13/+1This is digg, you're supposed to act like a 4th grader.
- Klisk, on 04/14/2008, -25/+1So, none of you liked her Husband, and none of you believe that her husband will have a BIG influence on her in office? She is a 2-for-1 deal, Obama is a... Face. I don't believe a word he says. Hillary is much more sincere in my opinion.
The thing is, most men see Hillary, and they see their mom disciplining them. That pisses them off, and they dislike her for it.- damndj, on 04/14/2008, -1/+5I was a big fan of Hillary until this election season. She really turned me off and it has nothing to do with my mother.
- actorboy, on 04/14/2008, -1/+9Actually, I used to like her husband a lot -- not only for what he did in office, but also the way he came out in support of New Orleans, where I reside, post-Katrina. But frankly, after seeing how he has acted in this campaign, I'd be happy to never see him again. You're absolutely right, this would be a 2-for-1 deal: 2-for-1 lying, 2-for-1 partisanship, 2-for-1 pettiness, 2-for-1 mistake. No thank you. Obama 08.
- marx2k, on 04/15/2008, -0/+3Thanks to Hillary, Bill Clinton went from being a national hero to someone I wouldn't even want to hold a conversation with. Maybe he's still trying to make up for his wrongdoings in his marriage or something, but really, he's become a complete 180 from what he was.
- damndj, on 04/14/2008, -1/+5I was a big fan of Hillary until this election season. She really turned me off and it has nothing to do with my mother.
- hillarycat, on 04/14/2008, -1/+14Even Hillarycat cannot agree with you, Klisk.
- Klisk, on 04/14/2008, -9/+2Damn you, hillarycat. Damn you.
- theOster, on 04/15/2008, -0/+2i feel like anyone in that position is going to have a hard time rattling enough cages to make a difference. the "*****-upedness" is so deep it's beyond belief. "it's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything"
- Gigs, on 04/15/2008, -0/+8Klisk, I want to offer a piece of advice. Read "The Audacity of Hope". Barack addresses each one of your points directly, and much more eloquently than anyone here. I'd even mail you mine when I'm done with it. Also, I don't think he addresses, and I agree wholeheartedly, that Hillary has larger testicles. Perhaps she has more than two as well, having eaten Bill's.
- enki25, on 04/15/2008, -1/+4Such a weak troll.
- Klisk, on 04/16/2008, -1/+1Weak with a million responses! P'shaw!
Besides, if I was trolling I wouldn't believe what I say.
- Klisk, on 04/16/2008, -1/+1Weak with a million responses! P'shaw!
- solistus, on 04/15/2008, -1/+4Way to accuse Obama of not having enough substance with completely unsubstantiated claims.
Take all your arguments about gender and sub in race. When will people learn that identity politics is not productive? - iainc, on 04/15/2008, -0/+2Gender has ***** all to do with it. She's delusional, out-of-touch, elitist, condescending, CORRUPT and a LIAR. If she were a man then these attributes would still stick. Sad that you would pull out the misogyny card. If she were anything close to a decent human being then she would have the support; she's a shill for the self-serving corporatocracy that has infected both parties, and *intelligent* people aren't buying it anymore.
- actorboy, on 04/14/2008, -3/+29Thou art delusional.
- ePuck, on 04/14/2008, -5/+2Yes, it is clear he will win, but that doesn't say much because look who he's running against!
- Klisk, on 04/14/2008, -14/+1He's also a great liar, and has all the kids thinking he's such a great dude that is going to help them out. We'll see!
- dmark77, on 04/14/2008, -1/+5Example?
- Klisk, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Only diggers like Obama, and diggers are generally youngsters.
- Spartycus, on 04/15/2008, -1/+3Well yeah... Hes a politician. Isn't the ability to lie with an appearance of sincerity part of the job description?
- dmark77, on 04/14/2008, -1/+5Example?
- Klisk, on 04/14/2008, -14/+1He's also a great liar, and has all the kids thinking he's such a great dude that is going to help them out. We'll see!
- ligyron, on 04/14/2008, -1/+4That's how Hillary comes across to me as well--like she strategically plans the perfect things to say to get people to like her, whereas Barack communicates what he believes and his vision for the future
She wasn't even putting any effort into her speech when she was talking in that video, like she has practically given up. I wish I could tell her straight to her face to step out. At this point, I've lost all respect for her. All she does is talk about Obama. She sickens me. She is like the annoying person that is afraid to leave a room because she thinks people will talk about her behind her back when she's gone. The longer you stay in the race, the more I hate you. Things would've been much better for the democratic party and America if you ran your campaign like a decent honest human being - LukasSmith, on 04/15/2008, -9/+2Obama will be even more of a divider then Bush if chosen president. He will offend the older democrats in congress. Republicans will oppose him as well. So in the end you will have a lame ass duck president who won't accomplish squat, if in fact he had anything to accomplish without dragging us even further in debt. Knowing libs and their socialist beliefs I don't doubt it. Of course to do this Obama will probably raise taxes. or not. Because most Americans may support socialist freebies but would not support raising taxes.
- Spartycus, on 04/15/2008, -0/+2Hey, maybe it wont be so bad. Maybe a lame duck president is the only way we'll get our government to slow down its rampant growth. If he cant sell his programs, maybe he wont be able to raise taxes either?
- LukasSmith, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1hmm. Good point. But I can't bear to think of our having a president who sleeps in the same bed as Ted Kennedy.
- actorboy, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1If you get the American people behind you, the people on their payroll will shut up an follow.
- LukasSmith, on 04/15/2008, -2/+1The people will realize the only change Obama brings is skin deep.
- solistus, on 04/15/2008, -1/+4Good argument.
Oh, wait, nevermind. You didn't actually make one. Warrants are good. WHY would he piss off older democrats, republicans, etc.? He has a far better track record of bipartisan success than Hillary and probably better than McCain as well. As for "socialist freebies," 1. you're an idiot, 2. Hillary's plan will cost far more, 3. no need to raise taxes, just end the Bush's "socialist freebie" tax returns and cut back on military expenses and we're solvent again, 4. he has done more to oppose lobbyists and pork barrel spending than Hillary, McCain or anyone else who was in this campaign at any point with the exception of Digg heartthrob Ron Paul, and lobbyist/pork projects that do not serve the public cost FAR more than anything Obama has suggested, and this one may be a shocker to you but 5. CONGRESS CONTROLS THE BUDGET. It's in that "goddamn piece of paper" called the U.S. Constitution. I could keep going, but I think I've made my point.- BigMrWiggly, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1Tax cuts are the opposite of sociaist.
- solistus, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1So are Obama's policies. My point was that if giving stuff to people constitutes a socialist freebie, Bush does it too. He just gives stuff to rich people. It was a mockery of the original poster's stupid use of socialist as a pejorative, not a serious comment on Bush's tax cuts. Want one? Here goes: they're grossly irresponsible in a time of budget crisis and weakening economy, only a mildly retarded 8 year old buys the arguments as to why they boost the economy and if our tax code is unfair, we should ***** CLOSE THE LOOPHOLES rather than trying to cancel some loopholes out with other ones. Of course, the tax cuts are mostly going to the loophole exploiters anyway, so even that view is a little generous of Bush's policy.
And yes, I am likely receiving one of the newest tax cuts. I still think they're a terrible idea and would rather see serious efforts toward fixing Social Security, providing affordable health care or just fixing the recession before OPEC switches to the Euro and all hell breaks loose.

- x0rcist, on 04/15/2008, -0/+7I agree, but he didn't make a mistake. What he said is completely true. The government has been ***** around for far too long and the people are pissed off because of it. He understands this and hopefully if (when) he gets elected he'll do something about it.
- chakan2, on 04/15/2008, -0/+2With x0rcist...I agree, his comments ring with truth. I'm one of those people that have been outsourced multiple times (I'm a code monkey, and the foreign labor is cheaper (I would say better too, but I've met some real jerkoffs from offshore that don't know a function from a comment)). And guess what, I'm ***** bitter about it. I'm not embracing guns or faith yet, which is where he may have stumbled. (I embraced porn and beer instead...).
- epmc, on 04/15/2008, -3/+2Wow, I didn't think Ron Paul's cult of personality on digg could be topped. Thanks for proving me wrong Obama supporters!
Commence digg down, Obamanauts. - BigMrWiggly, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1GUYS A NUCLEAR BOMB WENT OFF IN NEW YORK CITY! Oh, what's this an Obama story? ***** New York. GO OBAMA! *orgasm*

- WomenObama, on 04/14/2008, -7/+49I knew Pennsylvanians were smart!
- kolobcreek, on 04/14/2008, -21/+1obviously not or they would find that when any due diligence is done Obama can't deliver on his hype.
- kipmartin, on 04/14/2008, -0/+8let the record show you dont believe we Pennsylvanians are smart.
can you cite concrete 'due diligence' (youve misused the term, by the way) as proof? like they say, 'Pictures, or it didnt happen'. i want proof.
- kipmartin, on 04/14/2008, -0/+8let the record show you dont believe we Pennsylvanians are smart.
- MrHooper, on 04/14/2008, -0/+6Not smart enough, I'm afraid. I'm pretty sure PA will be won by Hillary. Not by a large margin... she is losing her hold, but there are enough old folks out there that just aren't interested in looking seriously at Obama... that are afraid of him. They claim he is too liberal, but I think they just can't bring themselves to vote for a black "alleged" Muslim. Yes, I can't talk my own parents out of believing that crap.
- runCMD, on 04/15/2008, -5/+1But you've stepped in your own pile of Crap that your parents tried to warn you about. Like when they told you the stove was hot, or drugs were bad. They knew better - with the wisdom of their own experience, and you ignored it - just like your candidate. Keep on hi-steppin' and trash talkin' your parents. What go's around comes around.
- LukasSmith, on 04/15/2008, -4/+1So because Hillary will most likely be chosen by Pennsylvania they aren't smart? Glad to know democracy is still Lib digg users favorite possession... when democracy favors their causes. Sounds particularly similar to certain complaints these same libs lodge at Bush and his administration. Maybe Bush isn't the only decider.
- Reaper2806, on 04/15/2008, -0/+2I really pray they are. Being from the UK I've asked myself why I care so much about this election, but I realised like it or loathe it, what happens in the US affects us here in Jolly Old England. Our economies are closely tied via stocks etc, and we seem to follow suit on the majority of your policies. I long for the day where the scene from "Love Actually" happens and Gordon Brown tells George Bush where to go. But if we get an intelligent, honest, inspiriational leader in the Whitehouse, maybe I won't have to worry so much about the future of my country, our economy, of my family, of our brave men in the armed forces.
- kolobcreek, on 04/14/2008, -21/+1obviously not or they would find that when any due diligence is done Obama can't deliver on his hype.
- thebradmiskell, on 04/14/2008, -9/+95People are bitter. Hell, I'm bitter! $109 mil? Are you frikking kidding me? Who's the elitist?
- acroyear2, on 04/14/2008, -5/+13You elitist! How dare you be anything other than comfortable!
- visionaryIX, on 04/14/2008, -4/+16I'm not really sure why earning money and being financially successful qualifies anyone as elitist. I think their personality dictates this far more.
- kolobcreek, on 04/14/2008, -11/+4Compare the amount of time each candidate has been on the national level. I'm sure Obama will be just as wealthy after he's spent 20yrs in Washington. Also after being president its pretty easy to make a lot of money when people are paying several million dollars for a two hour speech about their business. Do you guys even think before you post? Or is common sense just something you're incapable of?
- monkeyrun, on 04/14/2008, -17/+3Don't even bother, these people are like trained dogs

- monkeyrun, on 04/14/2008, -16/+5We get it, you hate people who makes more money than you do.
Keep up that attitude it will eventually bring us Communism.
btw: good ***** God, he is our former president for crying out loud, of course he makes more money than you do.- Klisk, on 04/14/2008, -7/+4Communism isn't bad.

Then you are not a real American
Real Americans are Hard Working, as a matter of fact they
are the most "hard working" people in this planet.
Having 2 or 3 jobs - now that's a genuine American trait.
So shut up and Work Hard and stop whining and questioning
the manner to which your masters provide you with this "liberty".
- docjulia, on 04/14/2008, -7/+99Hillary has absolutely no shame. How can she call Obama an elitist when she has spent most of her life having someone else chauffeur her around and buy her groceries and pay her bills?
- jaewon223, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1precisely. she needs to wipe her own butt first
- allnone, on 04/14/2008, -5/+40You mean Hillary drinking beer and the shots of whiskey wasn't believable? What about her old gun story's and Bosnia sniper fire? The media asked her about the gun story's when she was a little girl, that she brought up, but she told the reporter "thats not relevant." Forget Comedy Central. Hillary Clinton makes me laugh more.
- kolobcreek, on 04/14/2008, -6/+3Its kind of hard to make money on investments when your paycheck keeps going up your nose.

- prhfs5, on 04/14/2008, -9/+28Obama speaks the truth...Hillary speaks whatever she thinks will ring true with voters just for the sake of winning, not because she believes it. She is slowly losing all credibility and she has no one to blame but herself.....oh, and Bill of course!
- amawg9, on 04/14/2008, -0/+6Slowly?
- Klisk, on 04/14/2008, -8/+1I feel like you have it backwards.
- manteca29, on 04/14/2008, -8/+2seriously? you think obama,a politician, speaks the truth. seriously? where have you been? ALL POLITICIANS LIE. THATS HOW THEY BECAME SUCCESFUL IN POLITICS.
- orelses, on 04/14/2008, -5/+23He was talking about how people vote on issues other than on the economy because economic issues never seem to get fixed. Stem cells, Gun rights etc... Also she is painting herself as an elitist by going after him in this way.
- Arishia, on 04/14/2008, -2/+9You know, that was what I heard in his comments as well. Wedge politics. I was thinking I had lost it all weekend, because I couldn't understand what all the fluff was about. I finally figured out earlier today what the 'other' interpretation was. Oh well, I'm old and slow and I'm poor and maybe not sophisticated enough to understand these complicated arguments well enough to get all hot and bothered.
- asskicker32, on 04/14/2008, -1/+7Me too. Im thinking, "What am I missing? What he said doesnt seem that strange to me, because people are ignoring the economy and jobs because it seems that it wont make a difference so they vote on what will? Is that what this uproar is about?"
- Arishia, on 04/14/2008, -2/+9You know, that was what I heard in his comments as well. Wedge politics. - Eternum1, on 04/14/2008, -4/+28Elitist is a label that doesn't apply to the first multi racial candidate unless it's just Clinton 'code' for uppity. I see a trend here.
- floorman56, on 04/14/2008, -15/+2multi racial? You sure he is proud of that? ..If he is ..where is his mom?
- aussiejan, on 04/14/2008, -1/+18His mother died of cancer years ago. I'm sure wherever she is, she's damn proud of her son.
- floorman56, on 04/14/2008, -11/+3Then his grandma ..or ANY of the white side of the family
- floorman56, on 04/15/2008, -2/+1so you cant answer that question?.....Just digg me down...I thought so
- FiestyPumpkin, on 04/15/2008, -0/+1I believe his grandmother is in Hawaii and not doing very well.
- floorman56, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1So there is NO ONE from the "white " part of the family that's been interviewed ?
Doesn't that seem "odd"? .. Why is that . what is he hiding?
- floorman56, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1So there is NO ONE from the "white " part of the family that's been interviewed ?

- MacEnvy, on 04/15/2008, -1/+5Considering HuffPo was the site that BROKE this story in the first place (releasing the audio of the original speech in SF), it's pretty stupid to call them an Obama spam machine. It's an editorial/diary site, like many others, and can't be put into any particular category.
Those who would blame HuffPo, or Kos, or Digg, or any other free social site for being monolithically *anything* are merely distressed at hearing things they don't like to hear. These sites don't do anything - it's the individuals on the sites who make them what they are.

- bingobongony, on 04/14/2008, -14/+5just bury it as the SPAM that it is. Eventually with enough people doing this, Obama spam will go the way of Ron Paul spam. It is already happening a little. it takes a few more Diggs for Obama spam to get to the front page now. Eventually, it will be gone for good. Obama will RULE the "UPCOMING STORIES" queue instead.
- mrsammercer, on 04/14/2008, -2/+2I think these stories are repeatedly getting dugg because it's not going to be "justified" in the mainstream media. All they've done since friday is babble on and on about what this means for obama and how bad it'll hurt. All that needs to be done, is that spineless Huffington blogger needs to release a full recording of what was said so that we can get context. Then there is no need for endless speculation. Even if that does happen, it'd only be spread on the internets. A reasonable explanation for Obama's comments wouldn't be sensational enough to make the nightly news; just the first part where he sounds like a controversial elite *****.(and I don't even think he did come off that way in the first place)
- bingobongony, on 04/15/2008, -1/+2It is not just this "bitter" story that spams digg every day. Obama stories are front paged at least 25 times a day. Most are ***** stories that have nothing to do with his politics. It is just to keep his name active.
That is why it will be SO great when he goes the way of Ron Paul and for hte last 5-6 months of the election, every single story that has the word OBAMA n it will get stuck in the upcoming stories queue. And they will have no one to bitch to but themselves.

Should they be the ones scared?

- zymyrgy, on 04/14/2008, -2/+7I'd say Hillary being elected. And from every instance of her pandering comments, her backstabs, her inability to put Obama down, she's resorted to calling him an "elitist" - something both she and McCain, old-school DC nobility, are by definition. I'm an Obama supporter not because I love Obama, but because Hillary, and McCain scare the hell out of me for this country's future. So yes, there's a politic of fear - but it's a fear of the two worst people running in this election who want to keep America on the same path it's always been on in the last 20 years. So yep, count me scared for Obama.

He said the entire speech was empty just a lot of fluff.

- runCMD, on 04/15/2008, -2/+1That was the first thing that turned me off of Obama. As some who grew up in the church - and heard a lot of fluff - I immediately recognized the sweet tones and increasing cadence rising to crescendo ... and then wait for the applause .... sigh .... I felt uneasy hearing the man promise to be different get up and lie and a very unethical land deal - and again about never hearing Jeremia Wright speak with a bigoted tongue. Couple that with his continuous cocaine use in collge ( when he could afford it ) and his hatred and rage toward his white 'captors' .. I just couldn't support someone that I couldn't believe could do the job. Great post.

Any less than a 20% (60-40) victory in PA is a pathetic loss for Clinton considering her lead going in and how much she needs to win there. Do the math from that point and you'll find it essentially impossible for her to win the primary without a complete blowout in PA.

- runCMD, on 04/15/2008, -3/+1You think with the same mentality as your candidate of choice. Hillary Clinton has half the electorate backing her. Why would she pull out just because Obama has a more ... vocal group of worshippers ... There is a good cross section of America that has not bitten into the dog biscuit the Obama supporters have so eagerly consumed. When you see the weaknesses in both - one still walks away a winner. And it is not Barack Obama. Her supporters continue to support her campaign - and as long as she is standing up for what's right - instead of what makes you guys 'feel' good - I'll continue to support her as well. Despite your apparently insatiable appetite for Obama news - The democratic party does not revolve around him.

- samk, on 04/14/2008, -11/+1It's pretty irrelevant how one audience or a bunch of local newspapers react to the story. What matters is how the country reacts. According to Rasmussen, Obama's unfavorable ratings went up from 45% to 50% in the last four days:
