Clinton Gets Booed at Shepherd Univ in West Virginia
nytimes.com — On what was probably one of the toughest days of her campaign so far, with pundits and analysts of all stripes declaring her presidential candidacy finished, Mrs. Clinton put on her battle face Wednesday and confronted what was at times a hostile crowd at a hastily arranged speech here at Shepherd University.

- slearwig, on 05/09/2008, -1/+1I could let on about what I think of when I hear the phrase "oooo", but it definitely would be some kind of pucky.
- aliengoods, on 05/09/2008, -1/+4I love watching people get buried for obvious sarcasm that's actually pretty funny. It really tells a lot about those who bury them.
- theapplegod, on 05/09/2008, -8/+0Yet another attempt to bash Clinton. Way to go former Ron Paul lovers! Will you jump to McCain if she somehow pulls this out? Where's your dedication besides bashing a woman since most Diggers are male and have drank the "Obama Kool-Aid" since your former boy, might I add a Republican, has no chance to win? Will you change parties yet again?
- thirdcoastborn, on 05/08/2008, -5/+44who the hell would be in awe of clinton?

- beakerwimp, on 05/08/2008, -17/+61Let's not forget to be civilized. Getting passionate about this stuff is obviously not a bad thing, but I don't think the woman and her daughter need to be endlessly heckled every time they get up in front of people. Her chance of winning the nomination is close to zero at this point. Show a little class and allow her to dig her own grave.
- gizzymo, on 05/08/2008, -6/+10gr8 comment, no point us stooping to her level......
edit: but somehow I still feel the urge to heckle her.... - tcbishop12, on 05/08/2008, -2/+37If she'll leave, fine. With all our best wishes, have a great life.
But if she won't, then boo, Hillary, boo. - Conwaysb0718, on 05/08/2008, -3/+19I think they need to be heckled endlessly during a long, slow fall from that giant pedestal they've placed themselves on. I, for one, am enjoying this news very much.
- beakerwimp, on 05/08/2008, -1/+4Conwaysb0718: I hear what you are saying and sometimes I myself enjoy her misfortune... but it doesn't really shine a good light on people who oppose her conduct when they themselves start treating her family rudely in public. I am encouraged to see a ton of people passionately advocating their viewpoints, but showing respect to your opponent (even if you disagree strongly) is the most productive way to go. I'm not saying a few boos is the worst thing in the world, but it makes me fearful that people will get more extreme and disrespectful in the days to come. If you oppose people because they use extreme and misleading tactics you must be careful not to become extreme in your own thinking.
- Conwaysb0718, on 05/08/2008, -0/+7If you are putting yourself on a public forum, expect to be ridiculed if people dont agree with you. And if the crowd isnt receiving you well, maybe you shouldnt be up there yammering on in the first place.
- Eganj, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3"if the crowd isnt receiving you well, maybe you shouldnt be up there yammering on in the first place. "
Which is exactly why she should be out of the race at this point.
- Conwaysb0718, on 05/08/2008, -0/+7If you are putting yourself on a public forum, expect to be ridiculed if people dont agree with you. And if the crowd isnt receiving you well, maybe you shouldnt be up there yammering on in the first place.
- RobotBuddha, on 05/09/2008, -0/+10Indeed. I'm tired of politicians rolling out to condecend to the public, and coming away from it with asses raw from all the kissing. When someone removes themselves from the public to the point where a "boo" is the only chance we have of actually making our opinions known to someone who's supposed to be representing us, they deserve it. The US became great when politicians were held accountable to the voice of the people. Now it's drowned out by the various interests they court instead. If a politician is spouting platitudes and *****, good for the public if they decide to actually demand more.
- beakerwimp, on 05/08/2008, -1/+4Conwaysb0718: I hear what you are saying and sometimes I myself enjoy her misfortune... but it doesn't really shine a good light on people who oppose her conduct when they themselves start treating her family rudely in public. - Tyr7BE, on 05/09/2008, -2/+5beakerwimp: You can just use the reply link. You don't have to say who you're talking to, that's what the reply link is for.
- beakerwimp, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1Tyr7BE: Thanks for the education, but I like showing the username since it conveys a more personal and direct feeling. It is actually very interesting to me that it gets under your skin for some reason.
- omnithought, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2It's not a matter of strength, but exasperation. A person can only do so much and still be deserving of respect.
- beakerwimp, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1omnithought: Point well taken.
- Eganj, on 05/09/2008, -1/+4You'll be waiting a loooooooooong time.
- iNaya, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1Whether or not you are civilised should in no way depend on the actions of other people. It's people like you that keep wars going...
"Oh, we'll stop shooting at Palestinians when they stop bombing us."
"Oh, we'll stop bombing them when they stop shooting at us."

- noahhoward, on 05/08/2008, -0/+11Only a fool leaves their hand on a burning iron.
- Disgod, on 05/09/2008, -1/+11It's not nice, but if it gets her to wise up and quit sooner I'd boo and heckler her took. All she's doing is harm, she's not just screwing herself up, she's screwing up Obama. The money his campaign is being forced to spend on the primaries could be spent elsewhere towards the general election, we know Obama has locked up the nomination, she can't win legitimately. She should be looking out for the good of the entire democratic party, but she isn't anymore, and anything that will get her to quit sooner is good.
- iNaya, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3She's not really screwing up Obama. This is the kind of experience that will probably help Obama a lot when he gets to campaigning for the actual presidency.
- JointVenture, on 05/09/2008, -1/+3Dont stop, McCain loves you for it.
- Plantagenet, on 05/09/2008, -5/+3Hillary has a lot of guts to face down an audience filled with hostile elitists.
- Eganj, on 05/09/2008, -1/+10Damn those hostile elitist college kids!
- starmanfalls, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2balls not guts
- cypriss9, on 05/09/2008, -5/+0IF Hillary is staying in to save face, to ease her supporters into supporting Barack, and to bring the Dem party together, she doesn't deserve boo's.
IF she's still trying to swipe the nomination, she deserves endless boos.
I think she's after the former, but we'll see. Certainly some of her comments make me question her motives. - OdinEye, on 05/09/2008, -0/+6Her chances of winning are not only close to zero - they are zero. Mathematically she has lost. Everything she does now that isn't dropping out simply drains Obama's campaign war chest before the general election. A respectable person would know when to bow out gracefully.

/ferrisbueller- gator2000, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1Thank you Dennis Miller.
- TheWriteGuy, on 05/08/2008, -2/+13The only significant endorsement she has is Rush Limbaugh's. She is truly delusional, or has willingly unplugged herself from reality, regarding how little genuine support she has -- kind of like our current President.
- Eganj, on 05/09/2008, -4/+2Since when is Rush Limbaugh significant?
- alittleroy101, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2What planet do you live on?
- Eganj, on 05/09/2008, -2/+4Allow me to clarify. Rush Limbaugh is not significant to any rational thinking human being. Sadly he has a base of listeners, it seems, that do not meet that qualificaiton. Beware of stupid people in large groups.
- alittleroy101, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2What planet do you live on?

- FlikNightshade, on 05/08/2008, -4/+5I'm so thankful she got trashed when she came to my home state. It's too bad it looks like she'll win it regardless.
- stellamaris, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2I've been working on the campaign with WVU students for Barack Obama. He's got the college kids on lock, we just gotta get them to actually vote. OF COURSE the primary is the Tuesday after finals, after the weekend everyone leaves town! It's just a shame that the rest of the people here (older people) are too stubborn to want change.
- thestaton, on 05/09/2008, -2/+12I'll be bringing out the Boobirds if she even bothers to come to KY.
- logotype702, on 05/09/2008, -2/+2Thanks you very much Hillary, you did good....you can go home and take some days off....
- JointVenture, on 05/09/2008, -4/+6Its comments like these that make McCain smile as he welcomes the ladies to his campaign.
- javip, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2wow it must suck to live somewhere where apparently most women will completely switch parties if an incompetent woman isn't chosen to lead it

- Plantagenet, on 05/09/2008, -19/+0The louder the elitists boo, the more working class folks like Hillary
- rpebble, on 05/09/2008, -0/+13I love how hillary has made herself as the anti-elitist. She's old money, old government, what could be more elitist?
- motogoat, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1To Hillary: Pot, meet kettle. You're both black.
- Eganj, on 05/09/2008, -0/+13Funny....I work my ass off every day and if ever I was to see her in public I would boo the ***** out of that elitist parasite.
- acetv, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4"Elitist" is the new "communist".
- motogoat, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3Oh, yeah. There are TONS of elitists in West Virginia. SCADS of them. They're everywhere. WV is known for the number of elitists there. It's well documented.
- Diderotten, on 05/09/2008, -1/+2Stats or it didn't happen. Also, she turned on workers when she denied unions to Wal-mart workers.
- rpebble, on 05/09/2008, -0/+13I love how hillary has made herself as the anti-elitist. She's old money, old government, what could be more elitist?
- MattDell, on 05/09/2008, -1/+11Well hopefully my fellow Democratic West Virginians will boo her with their primary vote. I mailed my Obama vote in 3 weeks ago!
- echolyean, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1I think Obama is going to do a lot better in WV than everyone is expecting. Maybe not a win. But I think this is one of those times that the polling and statistical data will have it wrong in terms of how big she'll win the state. Not that it even matters.
- usgovterrorists, on 05/09/2008, -16/+1Now now Hillary, you know you're supposed to follow the script!
Be a good little neocon, and pretend you support Obama.
You knew the election was rigged anyway, you might as well take the bribes.- slifty, on 05/09/2008, -0/+14That comment is so full of fail I just don't know where to begin...

- usgovterrorists, on 05/09/2008, -15/+1Now now we all know vote rigging software exists, and you're full of crap!
- javip, on 05/09/2008, -0/+5what?
- slifty, on 05/09/2008, -0/+13Ahh yeah, I said "That comment is so full of fail I just don't know where to begin..."
- usgovterrorists, on 05/09/2008, -14/+1Did you say something?
- Diderotten, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3I'll sort it out. She's not a neocon, she's a crummy politician who flocks only to positions that will guarantee votes, she's a liar, and she's preventing the democratic party from progress. She's all these things but she's not a neocon. How does she pretend to support Obama when she attacks him constantly? The diebold incidents or bribes are true, but you said it in a retarded fashion. You didn't correlate one issue with another, nor give any insight or sources. Fail.

- leonardutah, on 05/09/2008, -0/+10Well that video is only nine minutes long and she spoke for 19 minutes according to the article. All I can see is that the person who uploaded it has a link to Hillary's website in the description area.
Gee, I wonder which part s/he cut out before they submitted it- Diderotten, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2It was a 2-parter and I didn't her any booing in either. I didn't hear much applause, either.
- theapplegod, on 05/09/2008, -3/+0This has been swung to meet the needs of the Obama Spank fanbase on Digg.

- jellygraph, on 05/09/2008, -6/+2so, the question remains... can we forgive her enough to consider her a vice-president?... I'm struggling, but I can see the benefits as well
- starmanfalls, on 05/09/2008, -0/+9***** NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
- barandon0D9, on 05/09/2008, -0/+7I actually said "***** no" out loud as I was clicking "view 1 reply" Haha.
- GhostyBoy, on 05/09/2008, -0/+4In all seriousness I would not let her walk my dog.
- paigeinphilly, on 05/09/2008, -1/+1VP???? ahahahahahahahahahahhahahhahah'' no, wait. VP? ahhhahahahahahahshshahahahahah...
Obama/ Webb 2008
*****my name is PaigeinPhilly and I approve of this message.**** - Kohaxx, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1She could've gone for VP if she had dropped out with some dignity when she lost 11 states in a row. The Clinton supporters may be rabid but the chances of them teaming up after this much dirt has been flung would be slim to nonexistent at best.
- starmanfalls, on 05/09/2008, -0/+9***** NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
- retinalfetish, on 05/09/2008, -6/+0“She’s unflappable,” he added.
I concur. - oceanographer, on 05/09/2008, -12/+4Ron Paul, anyone?

- GhostyBoy, on 05/09/2008, -5/+2He won't win. He's still cool. That is all.
- RealBoatsRock, on 05/09/2008, -1/+4Though this state will most likely go to her in the end, she'll never win over the college crowds. I'm from Shepherdstown, and that's the sort of thing we do. I'm currently going to school at WVU, though, and I'd like to see what happens if she were to come up here. This is entrenched Obama territory as far as the university is concerned.
- orenshk, on 05/09/2008, -11/+2All this says is that are some people that have no manners.
- starmanfalls, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1and absolutely no class at all, Hillary and Bill

Enough said...- zcets, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1i love you
- Hypomanic, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1That is creepy.
- hokie47, on 05/09/2008, -9/+1I have little respect to anyone who throws batteries at opposing team fans. ***** you WVU, but I do miss playing you all.
/Virginia Tech Alum- TheBigBad, on 05/09/2008, -4/+1***** you too. If you miss us that much, just tune into a BCS Bowl. We can usually be found there winning.
- motogoat, on 05/09/2008, -2/+4This is the danger your risk when you overstay your welcome. If she would have bowed out a few months ago, like she should have, she would have maintained some respect from democrats, especially. As it stands, people have this view of her being power hungry, overly ambitious and a bit out touch with reality, I'm afraid.
It kind of sucks because I think she could have earned a lot of respect and support had she not been so ambitious and eager. I would at least still had some respect for her and may have considered voting for her in the future. As it stands, I don't ever see me casting a vote for this woman. And I've lost much of the respect I had for Bill.
Such is the tragedy of Ambition. Ask Lady Macbeth and Julius Caesar about how too much ambition ends in turmoil. - daiatan, on 05/09/2008, -3/+0http://www.notmytribe.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/ ...
nobody likes a hippy.- Diderotten, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1I wish she stayed a hippie.
- PamalaLauren, on 05/09/2008, -1/+3She said something to the effect of "I know you're probably here to avoid studying, that's okay." Yeah because remember only uneducated white folk vote for her. So those who are studying are bad for her.
- Codee, on 05/09/2008, -2/+1BOOooorack For President!!! YEAH!! Get off the stage!
- iNaya, on 05/09/2008, -3/+5Man, people on this site need to learn meaning of the words "polite", "considerate" and "accepting".
As humans we should strive to be chivalrous and kind. Personally I don't like Clinton very much, and I like Obama a lot, but there's no excuse for heckling, insults or whatnot. We should accept people for who they are, as people. If you don't like her, don't vote for her. But we don't need to be immature about it.
I prefer Obama, because he seems more honest, and more genuine. I don't get those feelings from Hillary. However, I've met neither person face to face, and neither of them has committed any real evils, so I'll state my opinion frankly, but I won't insult someone who I really don't know much about.
Go on, dig me down for being balanced.- ibzz, on 05/09/2008, -1/+1THERE u go!
- BlacklabelSAR, on 05/09/2008, -0/+1America has been ***** for a bit now, and we are a bit upset, which is completely appropriate. Just because "I won't insult someone who I really don't know much about", maybe you should get up to speed on current events and then you wouldn't be so dispassionate.
- Neo2627, on 05/09/2008, -0/+3For the 'good' of the Democratic Party, Sen. Clinton should end this mellow-drama now! Everyone knows she is a tenacious political fighter; even though I think her 'ego', will mess her up further in her political career. She and 'all' her supporters should put their 'eggs' in one basket! Back Sen. Obama, so the war, as we are involved will be over, and that we can start building this nation back to with 'liberty and justice for all!'
- humbled, on 05/09/2008, -0/+2That tenacity, in spite of evidence/reality, is really NOT what this country needs right now. We're stuck in Iraq because our president decided to be tenacious there, despite all evidence... I do not want more of that kind of crap!
- 808ethan, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1I'd bang her... J/K I wouldn't, that woman has nothing now.
