      - Famine, death and destruction in all the cities
      - Whites slaughtering blacks in the streets
      - Gangs burning down our cities

      - Army generals will be attempting coup-d'etats
      - American made nuclear arms will become available to street gangs and terrorists
      - WWIII will follow
      - America will get nuked by her own arms
      - History and civilization will end by the year 2012 as the Mayans had predicted

The thing that really bothers me is that she'll say anything that someone tells her is "true" when it's convenient, and without any sort of fact-checking whatsoever. She did not include this story in her speech but I did catch quite a few things that were simply inaccurate or exaggerated. What took my by surprise though is the level of contradiction between what she says now and how she voted. She kept hammering how important it is that we need to get rid of No Child Left Behind, how unconstitutional the Patriot Act is, and how we need to bring our troops home. All good points to rally democrats behind you, but she voted in favor of all of them.

    Someone questioned her about it and she said that that point isn't valid because she was merely voting for them so they could be given final say to the president.

      - Voted NO on removing need for FISA warrant for wiretapping abroad.
      - He vote no on banning private military contractors

      There won't be much change.. all 3 candidates are working for corporate America.

      • adrianmonk, on 04/07/2008, -0/+4Congress members do not have infinite power to get bills worded exactly how they want before they vote on them. Sometimes (often) bills are a compromise, and if you support something 51% and your only two options are to vote for or against, then you vote in favor of it.

        For what it's worth, Obama was a co-sponsor of the SAFE Act in 2005, which was a piece of legislation meant to provide some checks and balances for the Patriot Act.

I want to see Hillary lose and I've really lost respect for her because of the bad decisions she has made over her tenure as a senator. However, this is not the story you're looking for. She was told a story and repeated it. I've done that and I consider myself a pretty honest guy.

We don't need a President that will blindly believe anything he/she is told without any fact check. The hospital said Clinton's campaign never called them to check on the story. This is as bad as lying.

She did the same thing with her vote on the war - didn't bother to read the NIE - just voted FOR it... probably though it would make her look strong on defense. In any case, I want a President who will check the facts before relying on hearsay.
  • loki440, on 04/06/2008, -1/+5The strangest thing to me about this lie (and the sniper fire lie as well) is how unnecessary they were. As a poster here said already, there are plenty of legitimate health care nightmares she could have talked about. Why make up one? I'm still trying to figure out the logic behind it.

    It's funny, the conventional wisdom on Bill Clinton is that he's a "slick" and has a casual relationship with the truth. But he never told lies like the ones Hillary serves up. His fibs were strategic. He either lied to keep his ass out of trouble or to gain some real advantage. This tells me that at least he knows what the truth is.

    But I really am starting to doubt that the same holds true for Hillary.
