Breaking: John Edwards Voted For Obama
cliffschecter.firedoglake.com — He was just on MSNBC and apparently it slipped out. I will follow up on this and find video. But in light of Edwards' campaign manager--former Rep. David Bonior--coming out for Obama yesterday and many of his top funders and supporters have now embraced the Illinois senator, this should not come as a complete surprise.

Breaking: John Edwards still a douche that doesn't matter.
btw: I am in turmoil. I like Obama...but unsure about his abilities. I hate Hillary and I won't vote for McCain even as a Rep.- noahhoward, on 05/10/2008, -1/+2Then do yourself a favor and research him. I used to go on about his 'lack of experience' too. Then I started paying a bit more attention.
- cdahlkvist, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2He's still inexperienced. His "bills" that he has introduced have been a lot of "givens". In other words, it would be stupid for politicians to say no (which has been proven by his high marks on issue voting) but he hasn't introduced anything real controversial and won (like abortion, domestic terrorism, income tax, health care).
I don't hate the guy. I actually love the guy. I'm a hardcore Republican (in belief only - I won't vote party line just because I am a Republican but I really need to see him work on convincing me, the typical Democrat hater. I see Dems and I really think unrealistic Utopian well wisher hippy.
Don't bury me because of that. I just need Obama to sway me over on my issues rather than focusing on his parties issues.
I hope that makes sense to you.

- Hillsfar, on 05/10/2008, -6/+22It's about time. He dragged his heels because of his wife's support of Hillary, I bet.
I hope he releases his delegates to Obama, too.- sulthernao, on 05/10/2008, -5/+8Can someone tell me how Clinton's Health Care plan is even constitutional? Can she seriously force me to buy Health Insurance from a private company?
- tdrizzle, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2Not only for you, but for everyone else as well!
- cheezintern, on 05/10/2008, -0/+4it's a good deal for the insurance companies.
- mooseontheloose, on 05/10/2008, -3/+6I think I'm going to enjoy watching you get dugg up because of irrational Clinton hatred until everyone remembers the existence of mandatory car insurance.
But feel free to point out which parts of Hillary's plan are unconstitutional (cite the amendments it violates).- rrbest, on 05/10/2008, -0/+3For some reason I didn't think about it at first, but i saved my bury just incase.
- erhanaltay, on 05/10/2008, -1/+0Tenth Amendment:
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
This is by far THE single most important part of the constitution. Unless a power is SPECIFICALLY granted to the Federal government, it is ILLEGAL for the Federal Government to do it! This includes Health Care, Schooling, Energy, and 99.9% of all government programs.- petrodollar, on 05/10/2008, -2/+2Yet another ***** who doesn't understand the tenth amendment.
The constitution says that congress can raise taxes to provide for the general welfare of the country. Therefore, that power is not reserved to the states.
I don't know what you mean by "energy," but I'm quite certain that's covered by the commerce clause. Since the power to regulate instrumentalities of interestate commerce is granted to congress, it is not reserved to the states.
Department of Education regulations aren't mandatory. They only attach to federal spending on schools. States are free to reject federal education funding and run their schools however the ***** they please. So if your state wants tell the Department of Education to go ***** itself it is free to do so. I just hope you don't mind the added tax burden of having to finance your own public schools.
But I'm sure you won't, because you'll be exercising your 10th Amendment rights!!!
- petrodollar, on 05/10/2008, -2/+2Yet another ***** who doesn't understand the tenth amendment.
- cdahlkvist, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Wait. I missed your point. Mandatory is good?
I hope you meant that mandatory car insurance drove the prices up.
It's a valid argument but at the same time I sure do like to know that the asshat that nailed me because they drive like a retard can cover my hospital bills.
Please elaborate your point so I don't bury you unfairly. - rawg, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2Car insurance is not a good analogy because you can opt out of paying car insurance. You don't have to buy insurance if you don't own a car or own a car but don't drive it. It is only "mandated" if you own a car and intend to operate it on public roads.
Mandatory health insurance, on the other hand, would apply to everyone and would, in essence, be a federal healthcare tax that goes into the pockets of the insurance companies.- cdahlkvist, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Except, in Minnesota at least, you have to buy insurance for a car that you don't drive.
Exception would be if you don't tab (tax) it. Then you don't need insurance but they do hit you for past years tabbing when you finally do tab it.
- cdahlkvist, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Except, in Minnesota at least, you have to buy insurance for a car that you don't drive.
- mavGuy, on 05/10/2008, -1/+1Did I miss something? Since when was it mandatory to own a car?
- petrodollar, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Since people started living in texas

You should know by now that the law is meaningless. Think of it as an "honor code" for robbers. They'll enforce the "code" when it is to their benefit.- cdahlkvist, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Well, in Minnesota we have done away with new taxation. Instead, our governor calls it a "fee". I kid you not.
He says "See, I didn't tax you. I imposed a fee. I keep my promises".
Loser.- afruff23, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1They should do away with the word "fees" and "taxes" and call it what mafias call it: "protection money" or "money so we don't kill you".
- cdahlkvist, on 05/10/2008, -0/+1Well, in Minnesota we have done away with new taxation. Instead, our governor calls it a "fee". I kid you not.
- WHNA, on 05/10/2008, -3/+0That would be ideal, I mean hell the man's own campaign manager has endorsed Obama. Strangely that seems more meaningful to me than an endorsement by Edwards. Endorsements of a nominee after they are chosen really mean nothing, which is I am sure what Edwards will do.
All because he, like many other spineless pols, are scared of the Clintons.

Either way, it's not like it really matters.- ligyron, on 05/10/2008, -0/+2Also, he said "Barack Obama is doing pretty well without my endorsement," so there's a good chance that's who he voted for anyway. But like you said, it's not a big deal
- dagamer34, on 05/10/2008, -1/+1The way he said that, it was definitely for Obama. Plus, I can't see how he'd vote for Hillary after the "scorched earth" campaign she's played of late.
- goomba323, on 05/10/2008, -1/+2I could be totally wrong (I only watched it once and don't have time to watch again because I'm writing a paper), but If you watch closely, everytime he said something nice about Clinton, he raised his finger and touched his nose. It could be a subconscious tell that Edwards has.

- fuzzmeister, on 05/10/2008, -0/+22This story isn't accurate, here are some updates from the post:
Update II: I upated the title to reflect what some commenters have said. It is certainly possible Edwards said "em" and not "him." As in "I voted for em." In which case, I was wrong. And it wouldn't be the first time.
Update III: Per Raw Story, John Edwards has now denied that he said "him" during the Morning Joe Interview.- cdahlkvist, on 05/10/2008, -3/+2Typical politician *****. "Oh, I said women" as opposed to "underage boys".

- xen0blue, on 05/10/2008, -2/+2typical narrow-minded, bigoted, stereotype-enabling democrat
- LukasSmith, on 05/10/2008, -5/+2Three reasons not to vote for Obama:
1. His biographies are sugar coated fairy tales. He named one of his books "Dreams from my father" Unfornunatly his real father was a drunk polygamist who abandoned wives before and after Obamas mother and died drunk in a car accident. Here is proof:http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=5 ...
2. He has never won an election on issues. THe only reason he is a senator right now is because the person he went against in 2004 who was the senator resigned due to a sex scandel. Obama was simply lucky, not popular.
3.Obama and his party criticized Bush around 2004 for not dealing with Iran. They believed Iran had nuclear weapons and because we were in Iraq our troops could not react to the Iran threat. Oddly only about 2 years later we discovered Iran had stopped their nuclear program in 2001, years before. Was Obama or the democrats questioned for supporting action against a nation that had no weapons? Sound familiar? 2002. Obama has proved he is NOT capable of superior judgement to any other politician. A conflict with Iran would probably have been as costly or more then curent involvment in Iraq. In a manner of speaking Iraq was the only thing keeping us out of Iran. This is not the first time a democrat has screwed up believing intelligence reports. In 1998 Bill Clinton bombed Iraq declaring that they had weapons of mass destruction. Now we know that since 1991 the greatest weapon Iraq had were slingshots. http://www.antiwar.com/orig/jfrank.php?articleid=4 ...- Barackalypse, on 05/10/2008, -1/+0Thumbs up, you're gonna need it, even though there are better reasons for not vote for him.

- bokep, on 05/10/2008, -5/+6Edwards is awesome.
- bca102, on 05/10/2008, -3/+2Of course he did. He sees, like the rest of us, that Hillary's goose is cooked. He's also holding out hope for a VP nod, so he's obviously going to vote for the Dem that can give him that.
- shyboy2008, on 05/10/2008, -10/+3lol what a backstabber. So now were going to break all barriers by having a black and gay in the white house at the same time. what is this, the twilight zone?
