Bombed if you do, Bombed if you don’t
ronpaul2008.com — It is unthinkable that despite lack of any evidence of a threat, some are still charging headstrong into yet another war in the Middle East when what we ought to be doing is coming home from Iraq, coming home from Korea ...

- StatiK69, on 12/14/2007, -2/+10I remember years ago learning in American History, how we were a great nation, a peaceful nation and how it was a nation for the people. It's sad to see how current politics is putting American's lives in jeopardy, and others across the globe in fact. A presidency built on lies and deceit has almost broken America, and whoever follows up next (hopefully Ron Paul) will have his work cut out for him repairing the nation so we can once again become a world leader. You can't spread the word of democracy and peace with war and violence.
- aki009, on 12/14/2007, -2/+4StatiK69, I'm glad we both seem to agree that Ron Paul would make the best president. However, the reason we were a world leader for a long time is that we were the leader of the winning side in WW2, followed by the Cold War that strongly encouraged nations to choose sides. We were the leader not because of our principles (think Nixon) and upstanding moral character (think JFK), but because of realpolitik. We did provide a lot of benefits for those on our side, like a free-market economy that provided a seemingly never-ending stream of increases to our standard of living. But then throughout the 70's, 80's and 90's that free-market engine was little-by-little overburdened by rules and regulations, and above all, fluctuating energy prices. We all see how well or unwell its sputtering along these days. (Interestingly it seems that taxes, while an important factor, are secondary to the impact of overbearing regulation and energy prices.)
As to lies in a presidency, I believe I read in a fairytale that there might exist a presidency somewhere in sometime in which a president is not forced to misrepresent facts, or to present unknowns as facts. While it's popular to beat on Bush, I suggest looking at the issues he has faced as a president. I agree that he has an incredible amount of room for improvement, but things could have turned out much worse.
Hopefully Ron Paul will prove my historical presidential assessment wrong when elected president. - catfish182, on 12/14/2007, -1/+5I thought it was about voting for Paul. My bad
- JeffDaiell, on 12/25/2007, -0/+3 Even if elected, Dr. Paul would need lots of support in both Houses of Congress. He won't get much from folks nominated by either tax-subsidized party. Those voting for Ron Paul for president will likely need to vote Libertarian for Congress if he is to get much done in limiting the Federal Government. -- Jeff Daiell
- enjoiskaterguy, on 12/26/2007, -0/+2this foriegn policy bombing issue is on the money. The middle east is a ULTRAhot zone. Leaving the middleast would serve just not us and our soilders, but the nations over there. They HAVE TO BE PISSED OFF at the United States for being there for years...and korea...bring the troops home too. Stop the policing of the world, and let the playing field level out and hope peace will in turn become of it.
- savagesteve13, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3The last nation that exported its political theories to other nations via the military was the Soviet Union, and we all know how that ended up for them.
