"The Michigan GOP was not particularly gracious in its reaction to McCain. "He's a general who left the battlefield in the middle of the fight," said L. Brooks Patterson, Oakland County executive and a GOP leader. "I'm disappointed in his behavior; he's thrown a lot of good Republican candidates under the bus." The resentment has continued, even though recent polls validate the wisdom of McCain's move."
While other Republicans are coming to Michigan's rescue to help other Republicans on the Michigan ballot it seems McCain did in fact follow through with abandoning Michigan. It's one thing to abandon efforts in a state, its another to ANNOUNCE you intend to do that. So if we are losing a battle in a war would McCain just announce "surrender" in a given territory? What kind of strategist is he?- magus_melchior, on 10/15/2008, -1/+1"What kind of strategist is he?"
The kind who played Stratego for an hour and thought as a result that he could take on Robert E. Lee.

- thepoliticalcat, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3Hasn't he said a couple of times that he's NOT abandoning Michigan? We all know he's lying, of course, since he proceeded to run away at high speed from the Wolverine State. I thought it was a ploy to make Winkywiggle look Veepish, with her little foot-stamping, "Oh, Grampy, do we HAAAAVE to?" sideshow. But hey. I just sit on the sidelines and excoriate the stoopid, so what do I know?
- brad3378, on 10/16/2008, -0/+2If he was dropping out of the Michigan race, he'd drop his support of the automaker bailout so he wouldn't risk alienating the rest of the country.
What drives me crazy about McCain is that he brags about saving a million here and a million there, but he won't hesitate to vote in favor of a $700 Billion bailout bill. This isn't the act of a fiscal conservative. This is the act of a two faced crook.
