- 533n, on 05/07/2008, -2/+10I'm curious. For weeks I have seen articles saying that there are not enough delegates left for Clinton to win. So is it finally over now?
- cg4et, on 05/07/2008, -1/+6It's not over, but it's ending.
- exronin, on 05/07/2008, -4/+2It's over when the press says its over.
- anachronaut, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4Run the CNN Democratic delegate counter:
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/02/29/delegate.co ...
Set everything to 60/40 for Hillary Clinton, including the Superdelegate slider (this unrealistically favors her). Obama still wins with 2039 delegates (2025 is the magic number).
It is over for Hillary Clinton. It is time for her supporters to ignore the constant buzz from the media and face the facts.- WhipkickeN, on 05/07/2008, -0/+10Just to tie obama she needs to win EVERY remaining state by 70/30 AND take 172 of the 274 remaining supers. And obama would still be winning by 1 delegate.
- elektriknoizz, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4Even when they're tying, Obama is winning.
- WhipkickeN, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2I realized it didn't make sense after the edit timer was done, they really need to give us more time! We need more time!

- Gorgamel, on 05/07/2008, -3/+1It's over when everyone votes. Thats how this whole 'voting' concept works. Each side tries to pressure the other into forfeiting, but its all hogwash.
- didiman, on 05/07/2008, -22/+6Summary of all Obama speeches: Change, we need change, change is good, change we can believe in. Hope, we need hope, hope is good, hope we can believe in. Now everyone get together in a circle, hold hands and let's sing kumbaya.
- shauncorleone, on 05/07/2008, -7/+8I've found that if you turn Obama television appearances into a drinking game and just take a drink when you hear "hope" or "change", you can be hammered in about 20 minutes. I don't have a name for it yet, but I'm afraid if I call it "Barack Blackout" I'll be condemned as a racist.
- Gorgamel, on 05/07/2008, -4/+1I just rofl'd a little bit in my mouth
- HangerBaby, on 05/07/2008, -2/+9It only seems this way to you because you're a horrible narrow-minded person who doesn't want to listen to someone smarter than them
- skrowl, on 05/07/2008, -10/+3I play one too. I take a drink whenever Obama clearly lays out a plan to deal with one of our country's problems.
So far, I haven't had to take one drink, but I'm expecting to any day now! - amirman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1it's obvious you haven't watched this speech. Obama haters are the best at ignoring what might CHANGE their mind. This is THE BEST speech i've heard from an American Politician living in my lifetime. all you need to do is read Obama's speech in 2002 warning us all what would happen if we started a unilateral offensive in Iraq to know that this man is wise and his wisdom definitely trumps hillary's "experience." http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Barack_Obama%27s_Ira ... of course you won't read it because you might actually have to reconsider the decision which you've already made and which blinds you to the truth right in front of your face. After watching Obama's speech i decided that i would do just the opposite of that and i sat through Hillary's entire speech however painful it was. Obama was obviously speaking from the heart while hillary read off of a pre-written speech word for word. Obama sought to inspire all Americans to consider the American Dream while hillary just talked about herself and passively mentioned the "children" and "blue collar workers." Obama spoke about his own experiences and why he fights so hard to help this country while hillary tries to play it off like she's a common girl from every area in the Nation. It's pathetic that people like you just repeat whatever smear you hear without opening an ear.

- CannedMango, on 05/07/2008, -0/+5You may be right... maybe Hillary did Obama the biggest favour she could... and that' s to give him real world experience of what it's like to be attacked by NeoCons. Nothing McCain throws at him can phase him now.

- 533n, on 05/07/2008, -2/+10I'm curious. For weeks I have seen articles saying that there are not enough delegates left for Clinton to win. So is it finally over now?
- petska, on 05/07/2008, -43/+4Many want to see Obama or Hillary win in Nov. What worries me is how many Clinton voters will switch to McCain if she does not get the nomination? It seems like she would be a lock to win this in November by a landslide. Obama, I am not so certain, IMHO..
- ShemDaimwood, on 05/07/2008, -2/+21"She would be a lock to win this in November."
Yeah, the candidate with 55% negatives is a total shoe-in. - petrodollar, on 05/07/2008, -2/+21All those Shrillary voters are saying they'll vote for McCain in the general because they're republicans carrying out Operation Chaos. They won't vote for Obama in November but not because they love Shrillary.
Shrillary's main base of support these days is lonely, loserish rush limbaugh listeners with no jobs and hence nothing better to do than go out and try to mess around with the dem nomination process.- cramming, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3GOLD.
Those are the same people who do nothing but frolick and fecate themselves all over the forums of my local newspaper's website :( - amirman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1i know in my state of kentucky a lot of these people are insane racists who REALLY think that obama is going to "bring the blacks in"..? and make all white people slaves. I can't tell you how many times i've heard this from the mouths of adults. It makes me sick to know how stupid people are.
- cramming, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3GOLD.
- JoeVet, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1Hilary supporters will not turn t McCain. You have to be a die hard democrat to vote for such a polarizing figure. At worse her supporters will not vote. Obama however is receiving votes from independents and republicans. If he is not a candidate in November some of his votes will go to McCain. Obama has a better chance provided the Clintons are able to swing their supporters to support him. It will be hard for either one however because the media is clearly biased in favor of the GOP candidate.
- ShemDaimwood, on 05/07/2008, -2/+21"She would be a lock to win this in November."
- petrodollar, on 05/07/2008, -16/+60Wow. I predict it will not be long before republicans go back to ***** their pants at the prospect of McCain having to run against this guy.
Saying "b-b-b-b-but Rev. Wright" is going to be pretty weak tea five months from now. Especially when it's coming from the mouth of a crotchety old cancer patient.- megahan, on 05/07/2008, -13/+5Yo, you don't got to be hatin'!
- moolaismyfriend, on 05/07/2008, -4/+7When is ***** not in their pants or their mouth?
- wild, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4When they are in an airport bathroom stall?
- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -19/+6As you well know petrodollar I am quite Republican. I can assure you we are not ***** our pants. We are actually quite thrilled that Obama is winning. Part of the strategy really. We will pick Obama apart like a rag doll and leave him bleeding on the pavement of broken liberal dreams. Hmm where to start? I think perhaps with his father> May I present, Obama senior, http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=5 ...
- consoneo, on 05/07/2008, -4/+10Dammit. Find something to attack the MAN, instead of his relations, and I'll listen. This ***** association defamation is not going to cut it. Every person is different. They are not necessarily a product of who they know. Find the evidence to show that Obama's father has impacted Obama in such a way as to induce the same qualities in him, and I'll listen. Until then, shut the ***** up, because it's completely pointless.
- UTKEngineer, on 05/07/2008, -2/+3How about the fact that Obama voted against the right to defend yourself in your own home? How about his doublespeak of "common sense gun laws" and his voting record that says he doesn't support private possession of anything other than single-shot long guns?
- drewedman, on 05/07/2008, -4/+1Link or die puussy. What double speak? and why do you need a handgun? to completely obliterate the racoon's pelt that your trying to hunt for and preserve? whatever. you don't even fukking hunt you bitch, I bet you that you live in the city and drive a range rover
- UTKEngineer, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3You're ignorance is staggering. Racoon and most other small mammals that are valued for their pelts are normally trapped, or treed by dogs and dispatched by small arms. Secondly, handguns are on the low end of the power spectrum due to the fact that they must be held in the hand as opposed to shouldered like rifles and shotguns.
You're right, I don't have much time to hunt since I've started grad school, but then again I NEVER mentioned hunting in my post. It's about the constitution and Obama's disregard of it, not my hobbies.
Also, I live in a suburb and drive a Subaru Forestor. But I wasn't aware the 2nd Amendment has a clause which invalidated it inside city limits. Care to point out where that is said?
Lastly, are your reasons for backing Obama so paper thin that the only recourse you can take to defend him is poorly spelled vulgarity? Is that the Hope that Obama keeps talking about? - amirman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1@UTKEngineer
Obama clearly stated in the last debate that he thinks gun laws are up to local governments to decide. He is a constitutional lawyer after all; i think he's thought his interpretation of the document through quite extensively. relax your trigger finger and be glad you live in Tennessee. - UTKEngineer, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1Yeah, that's what he said in the last debate. But if you look at his previous positions and his voting history, he is quite clearly anti-gun.

http://volokh.com/posts/1203389334.shtml - amirman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1i read all of that, sounds to me like he respects the second amendment and supports regulation of deadly weapons at the same time. i really don't see which of these policies has you so riled up. and i don't see anything about single shot rifles like you said either.
- UTKEngineer, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3You're ignorance is staggering. Racoon and most other small mammals that are valued for their pelts are normally trapped, or treed by dogs and dispatched by small arms. - rodrigo74, on 05/07/2008, -4/+16Retarded people like you that make the campaign for president be based on gaffes and scandals instead of proposals and plans for the future. This is the election for President of the USA, not to elect who got the coolest dad. Time to act like a grown-up, Lukas.
- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -19/+4Actually there is quite alot of point to this comment. Both his father and mother lacked good judgment. How can we trust the son of two people so horrible at making judgements. You say there is no influence. But I'm quite sure the mothers influence stinks because her multiple lovers all have their particular skeletons. Too bad Obama wasn't good enough to write about them in his books. I might have read them. Nope Obama sprinkled fairy dust on his life story. I mean like the part where his mother lives on foodstamps. You know what that was? A choice. Bad judgement. Here is a college educated woman living on food stamps? ahahaha. Our illegal population lives better then her and they probably never made it past 6th grade. Obama's sob story about his mother and his the utter silence kept up about his father makes me think there are more skeletons to get out before november.
- rodrigo74, on 05/07/2008, -3/+7..and yet you don't have a problem with a cocaine-snorting President, yours truly George Dubia? Go figure.
- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -7/+3Umm Obama has also been a user of illegal substances what is your point?
- apetrie, on 05/07/2008, -3/+2Oooh illegal substances! Putting cocaine and marijuana under the same umbrella still doesn't make your point valid. You may be a shill, but I find it hard to believe you're stupid enough to think they are comparable.
- rodrigo74, on 05/07/2008, -3/+5That is not MY point, I am just showing how stupid is YOUR point. Me? I don't care if the guy's dad was Adolf F. Hitler, what I care is the guy's proposals and own history, not his dad's. This is an election for President, not for the next Jesus Christ.
- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -7/+3Yeah because Obama's history has sooo little to do with his parents. Yup thats right. Obama was brought by a stork. Or grown in a cabbage patch. Obama's judgment has so little to do with his parents. I suppose it was his perfectly unlike his mother's judgment to sugarcoat his biography with fairy tales. Where did he learn to bend the truth and cover his ass so well? His grandparents?
- rodrigo74, on 05/07/2008, -3/+3Nah, I've seen your profile, you're a "pro" troll..nevermind, I won't feed you.
- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -3/+1You know Rodrigo for someone who doesn't care to respond you sure as ***** have plenty. So stfu and go away. thanks.
- amirman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+2"My daddy was a good man, Vote for me" - GWB
- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -19/+3Time to realize people. OBamas parent's sucked ass. Parents with horrible judgement = son with ?. For reference I need only direct you to the year 2004 when Obama and his fellow demos got on Bush's case because he was tooo SOFT on Iran. They even wanted to attack Iran and blamed our situation in Iraq for not being able to deal with the so called real problem in Iran. But guess what happened? Evidence emerged a while later indicating that Iran had stopped nuclear activities in 2001. Oh but the democrats were soo very quiet then. And Obama? His judgement wasn't even questioned. How odd that that master of good judgement thought we should be doing something about Iran on evidence that was crap. OH that reminds me of another year. Let me now direct you to the year 2002. You fill in the rest.
- amirman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1Obama in 2002 : http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Barack_Obama%27s_Ira ...
what's your point exactly? he was right about everything. This is the kind of person we need in the whitehouse.

YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!- arkboysooner, on 05/07/2008, -3/+8His father left him when he was a boy and he was mostly raised by his grandmother. Still, somehow after all of that he ended up going to Harvard and becoming a senator. Sounds like a great story of perseverance and finding the American dream to me. You and everyone else's attacks of association are becoming a joke and Americans are beginning to realize it
- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -6/+3attacks of association will be coming. So please don't bother whining at me. If you cant handle this just wait till November. But on to the other issue. What say you of Obama's poor judgment? the same kind of judgment that got us into Iraq? Obama was ready to throw the towel at Iran on crappy evidence. A new kind of leadership? not.
- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -12/+4ah yes bury the truth, bury it where it can't get to you democrats. But you won't be able to hide in November. remember that. And most importantly don't respond. Because you have nothing to say.
- meesle110, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2And how loud the cornered rat squealed. It knew its days were coming to a close.
- amirman, on 05/08/2008, -1/+1i've been responding LukasSmith AND i've been digging you down just to indicate to you how stupid you really are.
- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -10/+2I present two well documented indisputable facts and yet, I am dugg down. Isn't partisanship beautiful? You can't teach the blind to see. Rather then simply admit these facts are facts you choose to deflect them. Is this how low you will go to protect your Messiah's golden image? How much lower can you go?
- unearth, on 05/07/2008, -0/+6You're being dugg down because people have already explained why your comments are irrelevant. Replying 6 times to your own comment probably has something to do with it, too.
- JayCrayZ, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Well I know feeding the trolls is a bad idea and all, but I just wanted to add one comment to the "parents being monsters" debate. The one thing Lukas doesn't seem to know about Obama is that he never really knew his father after he left when Barack was 2 and a half. Also, after his mother moved to the Phillipines he moved back to america and lived with his grandparents. So his parents weren't necessarily there all his childhood to nurture him into this so-called monster. The nature-versus-nurture argument is probably the closest you are gonna get with this line of thinking.
- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -5/+2Explained? are you ***** kidding?? I had one dumbass explain that everything in Obamas past is cool because Bush did drugs. Oh yeah and that they don't care what Obama did or his family. That was it. Some ***** explanation.

****My name is PaigeInPhilly and I approve of this message****
- petska, on 05/07/2008, -26/+4Also, what happens when Florida and Michigan voters get to actually have their votes counted??
- ShemDaimwood, on 05/07/2008, -3/+24Obama will win them in the general, because unlike in Hillary's sham primary, his name will actually be on the ballot.
- petrodollar, on 05/07/2008, -1/+7Or he'll take CO and VA so it won't really matter anyway.
- rottencod, on 05/07/2008, -0/+4How can Hillary supporters claim unfair treatment of MI and FL voters, whose state parties KNEW the consequences of moving their primary dates, when Hillary's own plan for victory calls for IGNORING the popular vote of millions of people who voted in legitimate caucuses and primaries throughout the rest of the nation? You can't "save" MI and FL from "disenfranchisement" and then turn around and disenfranchise the whole country. It doesn't work that way, Hillary. If you disenfranchise me, I will vote for Richard Nixon this year.
- GoneGreen, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1The only argument to allowing FL votes is that the Republicans who run the state were the ones who moved up the primary... not the Democrats.
- acroyear2, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3Obama would still have more delegates at this point even if you counted those two flawed contests from those two very foolish states.
- ShemDaimwood, on 05/07/2008, -3/+24Obama will win them in the general, because unlike in Hillary's sham primary, his name will actually be on the ballot.
- scatteredbomb, on 05/07/2008, -5/+115Strongest part of the speech.
"Yes, we know what’s coming. We’ve seen it already. The same names and labels they always pin on everyone who doesn’t agree with all their ideas. The same efforts to distract us from the issues that affect our lives by pouncing on every gaffe and association and fake controversy in the hope that the media will play along. The attempts to play on our fears and exploit our differences to turn us against each other for pure political gain – to slice and dice this country into Red States and Blue States; blue-collar and white-collar; white and black, and brown.
This is what they will do – no matter which one of us is the nominee. The question, then, is not what kind of campaign they’ll run, it’s what kind of campaign we will run. It’s what we will do to make this year different. I didn’t get into race thinking that I could avoid this kind of politics, but I am running for President because this is the time to end it.
We will end it this time not because I’m perfect – I think by now this campaign has reminded all of us of that. We will end it not by duplicating the same tactics and the same strategies as the other side, because that will just lead us down the same path of polarization and gridlock.
We will end it by telling the truth – forcefully, repeatedly, confidently – and by trusting that the American people will embrace the need for change. "- MidgardMurda, on 05/07/2008, -1/+18It's very easy to listen to Obama...I love his long ass speeches.

- TyroPyro, on 05/07/2008, -8/+55This was one of my favorite Obama speeches. He was emotionally into it... very genuine and powerful.
- Pillage, on 05/07/2008, -2/+1I like how they put two teleprompters to the left and to the right so he is never looking directly at the camera when he speaks, very good strategy in this speech.
- CouchTomato, on 05/07/2008, -5/+27Wow. c'mon America! lead the world towards a whole new level with this man in charge.
- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -11/+2C'mon America vote for Obama or your racist. Because seriously do you actually believe the world will think anything but that America is racist if you don't vote for him. Kinda makes you think it's not your choice who is president doesn't it?
- Elliuotatar, on 05/07/2008, -1/+5I'm American, and I'm astounded that he's likely going to be the next president. When I first heard about him, I thought the color of his skin and his name had doomed his chances from the start and he'd be out of the race early, and yet here he is kicking hillary's ass left and right. Glad I was wrong, but I'm still dumbfounded how he won any states in the south.
- Andrwmorph, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2I think we can all see who the racist is here.
- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -7/+1I'm American, and I'm astounded you don't know this is just a democrat primary. Obama will likely NOT be the next president. When I first heard about him I thought he would easily pull a race card because I looked at the guy and was unimpressed. I was thinking what does this guy bring that John Edwards or some other liberal doesn't. Then I remembered. He's black. An obvious qualification for president. I was wondering why would the south vote for this guy. Then I realized I wasn't in the 1950's or 60's. The demographics of America might have changed since then. So I went online. And to my shock discovered... the south is heavily populated by African Americans. Looking at this map I can clearly see why Obama can win in the south.
http://www.censusscope.org/us/map_nhblack.html- amirman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1he has never ONCE pulled the race card thank you very much but Hillary's woman card and McCain's POW card has been pulled so many times they need to be laminated.
- 666dorado, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2it's so clear that you HATE BLACK PEOPLE. i can just tell by your profile picture and your posts. why are you so mad?

- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -3/+1Pretty much 300 million Americans control the world. Whereas 600 million Europeans just suck air. And the rest of the world? who cares about them.
- amirman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1yeah i'm going to take political advice from you now.
- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -11/+2C'mon America vote for Obama or your racist. Because seriously do you actually believe the world will think anything but that America is racist if you don't vote for him. Kinda makes you think it's not your choice who is president doesn't it?

- mattrh, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Unfortunately, Clinton says shes staying in.
- cdzrom, on 05/08/2008, -2/+1it won't be easy. McCain actually has this thing called experience in being a bi-partisan unifier (ie. McCain-Kennedy immigration act). While Obama "says" he will bring both parties together, he is easily one of the most left wing senators - which is not a problem, unless you say you're a centrist unifier, not a man who voted the democratic position in 65 out of 66 votes.
I'm begging for an excuse not to vote for McCain - but Obama really has to put his money where his mouth is, and cite prior experience not his eloquent rally-speeches.- amirman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1a bipartisan unifier who's turned his back on any respectable idea or policy he's ever come up with. yeah, we really need another GOP puppet in the whitehouse like we need an anus under our nose.

- Hillsfar, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1But apparently it's the government's responsibility to pay for billions in no-bid contracts, and billions in corporate welfare and tax cuts? Yeah, right.

- crocodilexp, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1He's a great speaker, and I agree with what the sentiment. I'm still voting for Obama in November, yet this part of his speech sounded strangely communist to me. Digg me down now, or read on...
Government should ensure people who bought homes they could not afford would not lose them?
Government should give an income tax break to the middle class (people who are easiest to tax to death without slowing down the economy, as they have no options but to stick to their jobs), and replace it with taxing the rich or corporations (who can easily move their wealth around, and their wealth-generating investments away from America)?
Government who should assist people who are getting sick -- how? The only possible way to do this is by giving yet more of our tax money to the medical industry -- by law, government is not allowed to negotiate drug prices, and basically cannot do anything to cut health costs, the only options it has it to pay any exorbitant price the insurers and medical industry ask... and ask they will.

http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/release/view/?i ...
The other candidates stood by their word. She didn't. Because she was desperate.- chassach, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3The pledge she signed (a mock up rather than the original I suspect, but that is exactly the text she signed):
http://www.upload.mn/view/m7ksnkyszgcx15jydasg.jpg
Can the Democrats really afford to entertain any more of this desperate clinging from a candidate who is unlikely to win the nomination and has such high negatives from so many sides now that she cannot win the Presidency anyway. She is an impressive person, but there are many impressive people in America who have accepted they will not be President. You know, half of me thinks she will actually prefer her rich mate McCain to win because he is so old and she might get another crack at her obsession.
- chassach, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3The pledge she signed (a mock up rather than the original I suspect, but that is exactly the text she signed):
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -1/+2I hate to play devil's advocate, but if Florida and Michigan had voted on Feb 5th like they were supposed to, they would have PROBABLY gone for Hillary anyway. At least Florida would have definitely gone for Hillary; so she might have been the nominee if that had happened.
I live in Florida and I'm glad we didn't get to vote for that reason; I hope we can be excluded in the general election too because these old people will go for McCain.- Seemefearme, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2We DID vote. And we have NO delegates representing our votes. It's a damn shame and it's already the first in a long list of electoral ***** ups bound to happen this election year.
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -0/+2No, WE DID NOT VOTE. I voted for Ron Paul because I knew my vote for Obama would be meaningless and I'm sure a few hundred thousand Obama supporters stayed home for similar reasons.
- neognostic, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4Curious, why are none of the papers in the state of Florida running articles or headlines about how the Republican party is so heavily invested in the sham? They held the majority in your states assembly and forced everyone to move up the primary date. You Governor now goes on the national stage and boo hoos how his people are disenfranchised when his political buddy led the charge. Get all Democrats together in Florida and spread the word.
- Stirk, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2You can't be excluded from the general election. A primary, intra-party election is much different than the national election that will happen later this year.
Oh, and be thankful that you won't be excluded. The day your vote does not count is the day that democracy dies.
- Seemefearme, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2We DID vote. And we have NO delegates representing our votes. It's a damn shame and it's already the first in a long list of electoral ***** ups bound to happen this election year.

- ochito, on 05/07/2008, -5/+14Wishful thinking on my part maybe, but how about this scenario:
Hillary doesn't concede. She won't want to "humiliate herself" that way. However, with her last chance to cut into Obama's lead gone, she knows she can't get the nomination. She doesn't drop out, but cuts a deal with Obama for one or more of the things already mentioned in rumors: Senate Majority Leader, Obama helps her pay campaign debt, some say on VP nomination.
For her part of the deal, Hillary agrees to keep her campaign in the upcoming states NOT against Barack, but against McSame.
Imagine how sweet it would be to have that for the next month. It is, after all, as it should be: McCain gets attacked in two fronts. Hillary, being the "feisty" (kind word for dirty) campaigner could sling all the mud that he deserves, and Barack can attack him rightly on the issues. Both can ask democratic voters to vote for them based on who they think stuck it to McCain better.
Hillary wins her states, (WV, KY and PR), Barack wins his states, and with the slow trickle of super delegates he clinches the nod outright with votes from MT or SD. No need for HRC to be embarrassed and concede and be branded a quitter, after all, she didn't quit, she went all the way and just got beat fair and square. Saves face, has a graceful exit, and helps the party without kowtowing directly to Barack, simply by going after McCain as she should have done all along.
Like I said, maybe pie in the sky, but it seems like a win-win scenario to me.- consoneo, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1I do think it's pretty awesome that the democrats are continuing to campaign heavily in all of the states while McCain is kind of laying low. It might be giving them a head start on the presidential campaign.
- kreneskyp, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1wishful thinking at this point. I just dont think hillary has that in her at this point. especially because i'd find it hard to believe obama would take her as VP and other people want the senate majority lead. personally i'd like sen reid kicked out of his majority spot for having no backbone but he wont give that up so easy either.
- bushidomonk, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1thumbs up for the McSame call. I hadn't read it before. And it rang so true in my mind :)
- Deodrus, on 05/07/2008, -5/+51I just did my math on the Delegate Calculator on CNN.
http://fapomatic.com/show.php?loc=0818&f=nc_result ...
What I found is that even if Clinton wins all the remaining contests by 60% to 40%, Barack Obama will almost touch 2025 delegates (the magic number), only being short of it by 2 delegates !!
Meaning if 2 supers endorse him from now on and she wins with 60% in every state... HE STILL WINS !!
I think it's time to give up for HRC.
Do the math yourself:

- kanabiis, on 05/07/2008, -1/+5and yet just last week Clinton supporters were saying Super Delegates mean absolutely nothing...
Tomorrow when someone brings up the popular vote, Clinton supporters will claim that the popular vote means absolutely nothing....
And next they will tell me what states mean absolutely nothing......
Its a never ending cycle of telling me who means absolutely nothing....
While crying about disenfranchising the voters..... which ones, the pledged delegates that mean nothing, the super delegates that mean nothing, the popular voters that mean nothing.... whos left to disenfranchise???? wait, I know... Michigan and Florida.... Its always been about Michigan and Florida to her and her people....
News flash, while you have been crying about spilled milk in Michigan and Florida, the rest of the country held Primary elections, and it appears that Barak Obama is winning..... just thought you might like to know.....- IslandDog, on 05/07/2008, -2/+1Ugh....I'm not a Clinton supporter. The fact is "pledged" delegates don't mean anything until they sit down to vote. Hillary and others can make a good case that Obama can't win the general election, which is true, and could possibly sway the delegate vote.
- kreneskyp, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1and most of hillary's case has been about not disenfranchising voters. if the delegates, super or pledged, turn against the people they will disenfranchise half the country. That is the fault in hillarys logic.
- kanabiis, on 05/07/2008, -1/+5and yet just last week Clinton supporters were saying Super Delegates mean absolutely nothing...
- chlsmith, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2I've been playing with that delegate counter for weeks and could see that she has been finished already. CNN doesn't push their delegate tracker much, as it makes the case that she should've dropped out weeks or even months ago.
Funny I did the same trick this morning. She needs to step aside. The picture on CNN right now is enough to remind me of what I can't stand about the Clintons. A fake smile from Hillary, and Bill and Chelsea with their heads together as if they're sharing a moment. The Democratic race for nomination is very much alive – and most likely to be decided by superdelegates
If you’re tired of waiting around for those super delegates to make a decision already, go to LobbyDelegates.com and push them to support Clinton or Obama
If you haven't done so yet, please write a message to each of your state's superdelegates at http://www.lobbydelegates.com

- citizen782, on 05/07/2008, -2/+23I will continue to warn all those who think Obama's already won the General: he is a long way from beating McCain. I am an Obama supporter in NC who voted for him yesterday. However, the race factor does exist and is undeniable in my area. McCain has already locked his nomination, yet still just as MANY North Carolina Republicans went to vote for him anyway and several voted for Huckabee who was still on the ballot. That alone is a testament to the bible belt.
My point is that the Good 'ol Boys club is still intact and as strong as ever. They will go out and vote and many of them would not vote for a black man with a gun to their head. To deny this factor exists is a recipe for disappointment in the general. They will come out in force to write in Captain Kirk before they will vote for a black man. You should hear some of the redneck's comments I've heard about Obama that I will not repeat.- andydread, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7Trust me I know. Living here in GA right next door and I hear some amazing things. But that breed is dying a slow death and I think more people will and kids will be out in force this November. I was looking at McCain but noticed a disturbing pattern with him and lobbyists. And I am sick of Lobbyists buying out our clueless politicians to our detriment. DMCA, PRO-IP ACT anyone?
- coup, on 05/07/2008, -1/+5but would these hardcore racists, those who would not vote for a black man with a gun to their head, ever vote for a woman over a white man?

- knuckles, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1Strange argument. Captain Kirk kissed black women and slept with green ones so we should be in good shape then if these *red necks* like the Kirk.
- itsfullofstars, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1Not necessarily true. Over 20% of republicans DIDN'T vote for McCain in Indiana and NC yesterday. He's clearly not as loved as the MSM would lead you to believe.
- formerperson, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Good advice, but I don't think Obama is the type to underestimate his opponent. He's got allies on both sides of the aisle and is much less divisive than McCain.
McCain is going to fight fire with fire, Obama is gonna dowse that fire with water. - DocOctavius, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Yeah, and if he was running for the Confederate States of America, he would lose. Fortunately the rest of the country is slightly less racist. I'm in Florida, and there's a ton of morons here that are the same way- "won't vote for a black guy no matter what" retards. ARGH!!! But yeah, that's dying out guys. They can't win this time... no way.
- Sonofglory, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1coup, I think that's the point anyhow... those "good ol' boys" will vote for mccain regardless of who wins the democratic nomination cause they don't want a Black or a woman in office. I want to remind everyone though that these people are a small fraction of the general population and i don't believe they will have as big an impact in the overall scheme of things.
I still don't understand why anyone with a functioning brain would vote for that zombie mccain. He's been bending over AND getting down on his knees since this campaign started just to tell people what they want to hear. He has NO backbone, just think how that'll make us look in foreign affairs. - amirman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1I fill in as a sub sometimes in the local middle-school. Today when Obama came up in conversation i was amazed and disgusted at the crazy ***** these kids would believe. "Obama is going to bring the blacks in and turn us all into slaves", "Obama's a muslim", "Obama doesn't believe in God", "Obama's a terrorist" what's most incredible is that these kids are not getting this stuff from their own research, their parents are Adults and spewing this senseless garbage into thier children. A lot of people here in Kentucky will believe anything available before they could think about supporting a mixed-race man.
- westerner22, on 05/08/2008, -0/+2Amirman,
please think positive, as a teacher you have an oportunity right now to make Obama more familiar to the kids: perhaps listening to the audio of some parts of his autobiography? It is still a bestseller: "Dreams From My Father". Barack was raised by a single mother, and any child in the same shoes will like some wisdom on the matter. Good luck! You know what I mean. Even though Bush called it exactly as you did as "attacking Pakistan," Bush actually approved the same exact mission earlier this year (LOL) and guess what Pakistan did not wage war against us and they still cooperate as much as an unstable country on the brink of civil war can. Sounds like sound judgment and brave foreign policy on Obama's part.
- BECoole, on 05/08/2008, -1/+1Sounds like Obama is the same as Bush.
- amirman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1you think Bush actually uses his brain and makes decisions? Bush obviously has no idea about foreign policy especially since he attacked Obama for the same plan he had just recently approved. Bush has the council and support of all the generals in our armed forces as well as various think tanks and governmental organizations designed specifically to think these things through. Obama had himself and a personal team of campaign advisors. you do the math.
- BECoole, on 05/07/2008, -1/+1Obama said he would wage war on Pakistan.
- csonger, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3There's a good bit of polarization on both side of the democratic party right now. That said, a McCain victory will cement the rights of capital over labor, put a hurt on our civil liberties, and be a blow to women's rights -- not because of policies that McCain will enact, but because of justices he will put on the supreme court.
Here's the truth: The policy differences between Obama and Clinton are minimal. The Obama "hype", when reduced to substance, is almost identical to the Clinton "hype." Their presences are very different; their messaging and their approach to public communication is different -- but if one is focused on the direction that each candidate will take the country -- Obama and Hillary are practically twins.
Which does not mean people will not cross over due to "personality" of the candidates. But then, Bush has an approachable personality that resonates with voters; and we see where that's gotten us. :) - freudianslipper, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2I really don't get why you would ever do that. Is it spite? Really? I'm an Obama supporter yet if Clinton won the nomination you can bet your ass I'll be voting democrat. On paper, they are practically identical I don't see how you couldn't vote for Obama even if you disagree with the hype or his style of politics.
Seriously...think about what you're doing. Don't act out of spite. - LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -6/+3Seriously go for it. These libs are just wanting you to vote for Obama because they are fanatics. I'm sure they can't even remember why they want to vote for Obama. They just chant change change change and get in line. Most of them seem to think Obama is some holy messiah. Obama can do no wrong. They worship him like a God. Its scary really. They don't know Obama.
- csonger, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2"I'm sure they can't even remember why they want to vote for Obama."
Well, I can. My list is:
- An end to the failing idea of nation building based foreign policy.
- Support for investment in the united states including: education, roads, and national based renewable energy.
- A move away from the very bad idea of employer based health care.
- Tax policy that encourages us to be a nation of middle class rather than a nation of lords and serfs.
All issues where McCain is lacking. I might even vote for the McCain of 2000. That was the McCain who knew that cutting taxes when going into a war was unprecidented and a bad idea. That was the McCain who knew that the religious right was needlessly divisive and distracts the country with unimportant issues. But that McCain has gone in his pandering to be elected. What we have now is GWB's MiniMeCain. - amirman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1yeah, take advice from the most ridiculous GOP garbage geiser on digg, please. It's people like you that have been corrupting the democratic party anyway.
- csonger, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2"I'm sure they can't even remember why they want to vote for Obama."
- ruyen, on 05/07/2008, -2/+5Have fun with that war (plus the one w/ Iran), Nat.Debt, terrible economy and dollar value, and lobbyists running Washington. Your cynicism is unparalleled if you vote for Bush's 3rd term simply because you don't "buy the hype". Maybe instead of considering it hype you look at the detailed plans he's laid out, and see that he's not just talking out of his ass.
- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -5/+2God bless you daemoncel1
- IronDonut, on 05/07/2008, -2/+3At this point in time... the statement "I am a Republican" directly translates into "I am retarded."
After the last 7 years how could anyone with even half a functioning brian think that Republican rule is a good thing. - LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -7/+3How could anyone with even half a functioning brain think that Obama rule is a good thing?
- IronDonut, on 05/07/2008, -1/+0Well Bush has lowered the presidental bar so much just the fact that Obama has a basic grasp of the English language is making him look pretty good.
- arkboysooner, on 05/07/2008, -1/+3The college educated who overwhelmingly support Obama would say otherwise. Oh, but they are just mindless drones, the uneducated poor rural people are the ones who have all the perspective in this country... The real truth is, most who support Hillary haven't payed close attention to the campaign and vote for her because Obama is unknown to them. Those of us who are passionate about politics, pay closer attention and are more involved (evidenced by Obama's numerous caucus victories) have researched Obama, understand his policies and know he is the best candidate for president.
- LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -3/+3Yes and I have a college degree and don't support Obama. What is your point? This whole college educated thing reeks of elitism anyhow. Not something you should even imply especially considering Obama's recent troubles. I don't think Obama would be pleased. Tone down the elitism.
- al3efroman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1Wow, you ingest and regurgitate those talking points pretty fast, what with your repetition of the word elitism. I wish I had added it to my list of ironic BS just as fast. Did that college teach you to use your own words?
- k1down, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2It is amazing how much time you have to hate on this thread. lol, nice collar...
Your Digg profile should embarrass you. - LukasSmith, on 05/07/2008, -3/+1Here let me repeat something I said earlier then:
"You know what I love about Digg.com? I don't know any of you, you are easily forgettable, so whatever the ***** you say or do, I don't care."- javip, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3everyone seeing your angry mindless posts on these stories is just laughing at u Lukas :)
i know i know.. "i don't care i don't know any of u, wah wah wah".. but my point is all the time you're spending doing this, is most definitely not converting even a single person (because everything you're saying sounds like it's being spewed out by a retarded 12 yr old kid, no offense to retards) but it's certainly providing some entertainment, so for that i thank you :)
if you like, i can also give you some insight into how painfully obvious you're making it that you have issues.. but i know you're the type that would rather stay in denial (angry.. hint hint) than admit they're a certain way and change it.
but hey, if it's any consolation, a large reason why you've grown to be not much smarter than a small chimp, and have so many issues, is your parents fault.. so there there.. *hug*
- javip, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3everyone seeing your angry mindless posts on these stories is just laughing at u Lukas :)
- amirman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1obama rule? i think you're a little used to Bush's style of leadership. There are supposed to be 3 equal branches of government in this country. Obama, having had a background in constitutional law, will respect that and not "rule" over us like this ***** Bush has done. Obama has already stated that one of his first tasks in office will be to undo all the unconstitutional damage Bushie's done to our government.
- dinot, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1Two words: Iraq War.
Here's another: Economy. - k1down, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Users like you make a strong case for the permaburied flag on digg. Save us the thousands of clicks on the little thumbs down. For a 24 year old man, you sure spend a lot of time hating on Obama in every front page Obama story. If you have a job, do your employers know that you spend this many hours a day hating on Obama to a bunch of 15 year olds on the internet? You do know about digg's demographics right?
- JoeVet, on 05/07/2008, -2/+5Your delusional if you think the country wants a third Bush term no matter who runs against him.

It takes a moment, but what's a few minutes now worth to get Obama in office?!
Sending a note to current Obama supporters lets them know it's appreciated, sending a note to current

Uncommitted folks will hopefully sway them to vote for Obama. It's that easy...
- amightywind, on 05/07/2008, -20/+7Obama is a smarmy charlatan, elitist, and racist who has absolutely nothing to offer.
- andydread, on 05/07/2008, -1/+7The people who are the most hung on the race issue are seemingly the ones who are trying to brand him a racist seems to be the biggest racists in my experience.
- cyberprunes, on 05/07/2008, -1/+91. Show me evidence of Racism.
2. Stop parroting the media talking points labeling him as an "Elitist". Its ridiculous. ALL politicians are elitists in some way. Being elite is not necessarily a bad thing either. I'd much rather have an elite Harvard professor over a GED beer swillin ignoramus any day. I would rather be elite than average in my career.- amightywind, on 05/07/2008, -4/+21. Obama has been an active member of a black separatist church for the past 20 years. One can only assume that he approved of the racist message being peddled.
2. The liberal media has been Obama's great and good friend. His foolish remarks in San Fransisco have given him his reputation. If he is proud of that reputation, fine. But Joe Sixpack who makes up the working class democrat base sure won't appreciate it. Obama can't win without attracting Hillary supporters. Your words are foolish.- amirman, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1Yeah the half black guy hates the white grandparents who raised him. good one. way to ignore reality. by the way their church is not black separatist. It acknowledges racism and it's existence in today's world. If you don't see Racism in America today i would only ask you to look at how faaaar you Obama bashers reach to put down one of the most inspiring, courageous, and intelligent politicians we've had in an election in our lifetimes. ....by the way Obama's winning :D
- ruyen, on 05/07/2008, -1/+41. I'm sure they never talked about God or worshiped him. I'm sure 100% of every sermon was hatin' on whitey. I don't know about you, but I don't agree with everything my pastor says, but you don't go to church to worship a pastor. Guilt by Association is definitely not on Hillary or McCain's side (Hagee anyone?).
2. If you listen/read the whole speech, it's a huge stretch to think he was calling everyone in PA bitter. He basically said that there are people in the midwest who saw their jobs start being shipped off 20 years ago and are bitter, don't trust politicians, and vote solely on values issues instead of voting for someone who can help them (because no one has and they think no one will).- amightywind, on 05/07/2008, -3/+11. I am sure they never talked about the "Jewish solution" at Nazi rallies. But the intent was clear and so was the complicity of the attendees.
2. No matter how nuanced a listening you give Obama's words, he said people are bitter, cling to religion and guns, and oppose immigration only because they are economically disadvantaged. I am wealthy but I still like religion, guns, and oppose immigration. Obama is laughably out of touch however you spin it.- amirman, on 05/08/2008, -1/+1oh hey you're back, i haven't seen you in a while! :D

- cyberprunes, on 05/07/2008, -3/+30The fact a Black guy named Barack Obama has made it this far is nothing short of amazing. It's one of the few things that makes me think maybe we aren't all bigoted ignorant bible thumping asshats. Judge the man by the man, not the sins of the father or his unusual name.
- ruyen, on 05/07/2008, -0/+41/2 black, but yeah.

- scamper22, on 05/07/2008, -1/+4why do you find it amazing?
Seriously, America is the least racist country in the world. No other country gives you the opportunity regardless of race/color/religion... as America. I'm a brown immigrant who has travelled my fair share. When it comes to racism, give me the worst bible belt thumping redneck and they won't be 1/2 as racist as your average European.
If you work hard and take risks, America is the land of opportunity. There is no glass ceiling except in your own mind. Just look at Barack Obama... or all the indians/asians in silicon valley. Many have worked their up to CEO/CTOs... There is nothing amazing about barack obama making it this far. That's just a condescending European attitude that shouldn't exist in the USA. Where's your pride as a man/woman.
The question you should be asking is if Barack can do it, and his wife can do it, and so many other blacks are a success, why do people still feel like they can't make it. If there's a racist whitey, fck em, and start your own business. Why do you feel dependent on good ol whitey to take care of you or give you a shot. You got your freedom and that's all you need.- ladon86, on 05/07/2008, -2/+3America is NOT the least racist country in the world. Come on.
It's not a "racist European attitude", which country still had segregation going on in the 1970's? Right, America.
"When it comes to racism, give me the worst bible belt thumping redneck and they won't be 1/2 as racist as your average European".
There is a certain irony in this statement. Can anyone see it?- scamper22, on 05/07/2008, -1/+0yes I see it. It's racist implying Europeans are more racist than Americans. You got me :P
If you're discussing race/trends/treatment, it's a little hard to have a conversation without mentioning such things.

Not exactly scientific at determining how they would actually act. Oh sure, I wouldn't mind a X living next to me, but how would they treat them...is another story. This study shows, which countries are the most tolerant.
Tolerant is a very different thing. On that, Europe probably wins. Europeans are more tolerant than Americans.
But again, that goes back to my point. Immigrants don't want to be 'tolereated'. They want to be treated as regular people.
- scamper22, on 05/07/2008, -0/+1"which asked respondents how they would feel about living next to: People of different ethnicities, Muslims, Jews, immigrants or foreign workers, and homosexuals"

Just treat me as a regular person and I'll earn my own way.
Netherlands - you've got to be kidding me.
Switzerland - again, you've got to be kidding me.
I don't know what background you are, but I can only speak from what I've experienced/seen/heard. Europe is the most segregated, cold (as in people) place I've seen. Obviously this is digg, so any story I tell you might be taken with haste. I've been to both those places, and give me Texas any day. Even the asians feel it. There is a Chinese restuarant close to my house and they used to live in Austria. Same thing...they couldn't stand the coldness/racism of Europeans. They had to come to North America.
Obviously, not all of Europeans are like that, but that is the overwhelming aura.

And with the will of the people surging behind him, Barack Obama will give us more than hope. He will sweep the money changers from the temple of Democracy and the USA will again be the light of the world. The 21st century is upon us, and there is no more time for war and pollution. We have problems to solve, wounds to heal, bridges to build, and differences that need reconciling. Hope is the precursor to change, and we must change or die.

Some will vote for McCain out of spite for Obama, but most will concede the nomination to Obama and support the Democratic party. Why would a Clinton supporter ever switch to McCain? Even if they want to hurt Obama's chances. I'd say they're more likely to vote Nader or Jesse Ventura.

Obama: "These are nothing more than the failed policies of the past. His plan to win in November appears to come from the very same playbook that his side has used time after time in election after election."
Random dude: "Hillary too!" - nooreazy, on 05/07/2008, -1/+7That guy in the pale blue shirt is TOO happy
- shiftclick, on 05/07/2008, -2/+1He's high on "HOPE"... obama-tards... geesh.
- Hetman, on 05/07/2008, -2/+3I wish I had the hope and optimism that most people on Digg have. When it comes down to it, the republicans are going to blast Obama with everything they have. And their most vicious weapon is going to be his lack of military expereince. The same would have been true with Hillary though. Either way they are going to play it off like this. McCain the war hero has experience and knowledge to lead this country through the ruff times of war that we are in now. He well be strong on terrorism etc. etc. Obama has only been a senator for 2 years, he has no military experience, Why didnt he serve his country by joining the army? He is not capable of understanding the threats to america etc. etc. And then the rest as they say will mean four ***** years of another republican. Thats cool though because this is a democratic republic and when the people choose you have to deal with it even if they chose out of fear or stupidity.
- Lenbot, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2That's why you have to believe that things can Change My Friend. It's Called Faith and even he doesn't get it you have to believe that what he has done is start the avalance of change through out america. And I believe you american Can do that.
- txtphile, on 05/07/2008, -0/+2Remember they turned what, by most accounts, was a distinguished and heroic service in Vietnam by John Kerry into a weakness. If McCain is using the Rove playbook he could make Mother Teresa look like a Calcutta crack whore with a few months and a few million dollars.
The difference this time has to be an educated and media-savvy electorate. Is it time for that? I sure hope so. - dygerati, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3We'll just have to hope that the general majority has grown tired of needless war and will recognize that McCain represents another four years of exactly what has earned our current president the highest disapproval rating in gallup history.
- Stavrosian, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3These attacks are easy enough for an intelligent man to brush aside, and in the end are so infantile that when used they will probably end up reflecting badly on the attacker rather than the attacked. - PamalaLauren, on 05/07/2008, -1/+2If this guy wasn't a politician he'd be a great preacher. He sure does speak well. I watched this one as well as Clinton's and it really does have to do with speaking style. She's just so dead, plain in her voice. She doesn't make you want to do anything.
- isaaccs, on 05/07/2008, -0/+3It's an unfortunate that his policies aren't as compelling as his speeches, though for practical purposes they're as good or better than Hillary's. Way too much populist pandering for my tastes from both of them, but both agree we really need universal health care (We're the only rich country without it). However, he's really inspiring, and in some ways that's as important - wonks always create the policy anyway, and congress controls what actually happens. So let's get someone who's smart, makes us look good, and inspires us to be a better nation.
- alphonseragusa, on 05/08/2008, -1/+1Proof that Obama is a socialist? Try this:
Obama was a co-sponsor of the Global Poverty Act. "We can – and must – make … a priority," he said. It would demand that the president develop "and implement" a policy to "cut extreme global poverty in half by 2015 through aid, trade, debt relief" and other programs. Obama also said: "It must be a priority of American foreign policy to commit to eliminating extreme poverty and ensuring every child has food, shelter, and clean drinking water. As we strive to rebuild America's standing in the world, this important bill will demonstrate our promise and commitment to those in the developing world."
I wonder how many of those US dollars will go into the hands of militants (who then will shoot at and kill American soldiers)?
Having the IRS take my money (with the threat of force) to help other Americans is one thing. But if you support the idea of the American government taking your tax dollars (or printing more/borrowing more) to give to poor countries, then I question your sanity.
