Analyst Predicts One Million Ron Paul Supporters Online by 2008
ronpaul2008.typepad.com — Despite languishing near the bottom of the presidential polls with 1%, Ron Paul has become an Internet phenom. As a favorite of the youthful 18-29 year olds, he has become a household name for those that frequent the popular Web 2.0 websites such as YouTube, MySpace, and Digg.

- AnObserver, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Are his online supporters still going to be considered to be spammers once the one million threshold has been crossed? And how many online supporters will there be for "Mr. Terrorism Expert Himself"
- pictureDIGGER, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3oh please spare me. spammers can't show up at debates and cheer for him. his popularity really is growing. This is a diggable article. It's not like the article is something lame. This is exciting.
- brjohnson789, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Thanks to the wonderful Military Commissions Act, Ron Paul supporters online could not only be considered spammers but terrorists.
- ddrekins, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3The latest "scientific" (I put that in quotes as I haven't checked them myself) National poll puts him at 3% which means he has tripled national popularity. I'm thinking his growth rate will give him an advantage the more time passes. It'll be interesting to see if the large media networks still care to give him less attention as his fund-raising continues.

chekc this one out.. He is second is Utah. - sevendst19, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Just one important message to everyone out there who is seriously supporting Dr. Paul for president. Don't get distracted arguing with folks online. Take the fight out to the real world. Go grab a bumper sticker and put it on your car. Participate in the meet-up groups to get brochures and pass them out. Donate to his campaign if you can. I for one, am tired of hearing this “internet phenomenon” crap. Lets show the world there is real support for this man.
- Gooseman231, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Bumper sticker on. Donation made. Next step Ron Paul sign in my front yard. Dr. Paul has a chance if America rises up. Tell all your friends and family. You can do it!

- youser, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Don't want to bust anyone's bubble here, but:
First of all, on-line supporters of Ron Paul don't have to be voters. Hell, they don't even have to be american. I'm from Holland and I support the man fullheartedly when he talks about american foreign policy, but I am not a factor come election time.
Also, it's still a long way till 2008. A lot of things can happen, and I'm not just thinking about mysterious accidents (though I wouldn't rule out the possibility). We know the american people's popular vote largely depends on the emotions that it is wrought with at any particular time, and there are powerful forces out there who could stage certain events to fuel certain emotions.
Then, of course, there is the 'funding' issue. If Ron Paul were to run for office, he would have to try and do it without donations from some heavy financial hitters, notably the military and weapons industry, the oil companies, and a large part of the christian constituancy. Meaning in concrete terms that he would get a whole lot less air time than his direct opponents.
My hunch is, that his own Republican Party would rather see Obama win (not sure about Clinton), than to have Ron Paul as a President.
What I feel could be accomplished though, is that, in spite of all these adversities, Ron Paul would give them a tremendous run for their (huge amount of) money, and that, as a consequence, all of Washington would be shakin in their boots, and would suddenly (and hypocriticaly) make the opinion of the american voter their top priority again. You'd be hearing stuff like: "We need to listen to the man on the street", and you'd be seeing them going into problem neighbourhoods tentatively listening to the rants of some nobody.
After that, it's just business as usual!
