- kmalik, on 03/22/2008, -33/+18WTF are you americans trying to do? Are you scared of an intellectual black man, who can help unite the country and solve problems in the US TOGETHER? Or would you rather have an old-man who doesn't know much about the economy, and is willing to leave your boys and girls in harms way for 100 years? And hillary, she doesn't do it, because she has flip-flopped too many times, and is smearing left and right.
- DeadFox1, on 03/22/2008, -12/+8huh? i SUPPORT the HELL out of Obama!!
- siszam, on 03/22/2008, -5/+26To be fair, Obama, Clinton, and McCain all had their passports files breeched.
- RipRapRob, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1So THREE wrongs make a right?
- kilt42, on 03/22/2008, -0/+2no, you are correct, but what siszam was trying to say is that our country isn't "scared of an intellectual black man"
- RipRapRob, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1So THREE wrongs make a right?
- mgnesium, on 03/22/2008, -6/+2If you're looking for a President who can unite the country in a meaningful way (policy-makers) you'd vote for McCain, the Repub who leans more to the left than the Dems lean to the right.
Rallying the public behind you amounts to nothing, as recent history has shown us. We're pretty much rallied behind HATING BUSH OUT OF OFFICE but that doesn't seem to have gotten anything done, now has it?
(For the record, I dislike McCain) - 5urr3al5am, on 03/22/2008, -0/+2ZZZzzzz nobody gives a rats-ass
- motivatedmama, on 03/22/2008, -22/+11I smell a Republican rat. This should come at no surprise considering this administrations blatant lack of respect for it's citizens privacy! However, Bill Clinton has friends in high places so there is that. Bill Bradley of Obama's campaign seems to lay this squarely with the current administration.
Obviously it was a failed attempt to dig up dirt on Obama, or we would have heard about it long since. There will be an investigation into who these employees know, what their political affiliations are etc. Should be very revealing! Conference call slated for sometime after 9:00 tonight.- Skitzzo, on 03/22/2008, -5/+15The man is running against a Clinton and you immediately blame the Republicans? I'd suspect Hillary's camp of being behind this long before McCain's.
- Pake, on 03/22/2008, -0/+7The new title of the article: "Records of Clinton, McCain, Obama inappropriately accessed, officials say"
I'm assuming there was a different title earlier, before people give this guy a hard time. - briguymaine, on 03/22/2008, -1/+2If by "Republican rat" you mean Hillary Clinton, then you would be correct.
- NeonGod, on 03/22/2008, -20/+10The opposition is finally realizing that he is capable of winning the nomination and they're getting scared. As well they should be.
- NoStoppingUs, on 03/22/2008, -2/+6dude. no. it was all three candidates. you people are getting absurd.
- LukasSmith, on 03/22/2008, -4/+1Those employees just some nosy *****. I don't find it hard to believe Americans are nosy people. Britney we love you!
- supermanred, on 03/22/2008, -0/+2Leave Brittney Alone!
- elosorusso, on 03/22/2008, -7/+41Shame most people in this country think 'Big Brother' is a TV show.
- xXMetalJesusXx, on 03/22/2008, -0/+13It is...
You should have added in "only" - masterm1nd, on 03/22/2008, -1/+2And some don't even know it is a TV show.
- yoshman, on 03/22/2008, -0/+2Probably better off that way.
- LukasSmith, on 03/22/2008, -6/+1And some people think 'Big Brother' is just a fantasy.
- jason4188, on 03/22/2008, -0/+2Yeah the shame is that, it was also a McCain, Clinton, and Obama breach, but the shame is that only positive Obama stuff reaches here, you guys should open your third eye.
- xXMetalJesusXx, on 03/22/2008, -0/+13It is...
- truthstream, on 03/22/2008, -18/+10Not only was this THREE separate breaches by THREE different people in THREE consecutive months - but that ONLY Obama's files were breached...if people were just 'snooping' - wouldn't they have looked at several of the candidates records instead of just one? If there had been even ONE other breach of one OTHER candidate in ANY of these occurrences, I would believe the 'snooping curiosity' theory.
- RuffRidr, on 03/22/2008, -1/+5OK, if it were a conspiracy, why would you need to snoop THREE times? Wouldn't you be able to find everything you need the ONE time?
- saska, on 03/22/2008, -0/+12I realize this comment was posted 17 hours ago, but all three candidates' passport files were breached.
- streak, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1I believe it happened multiple times simply because Obama has garnered enough interest among everyone, including those with the ability (not authority) to look at his passport file. Just like it happened earlier to McCain and HRC.
I don't know about you either, but my passport is looked at by a U.S. government official every time I go through customs. Makes me scared.
- DiggLive, on 03/22/2008, -15/+8The Republicans will do anything to keep their power. They knew and still know that Obama would be a force to be taken as a serious threat ever since his speech against the war in 2002 and at the 2004 Democratic Convention. The Republican party is in shambles, retirements left and right, a weak Democratic-leaning candidate, and a superpower that is Barack Obama.
Yes, the establishment is scared ***** that they'll lose the very control they've gained over the past 7 years. NO MORE! YES WE CAN!- toxicshok, on 03/22/2008, -1/+2"The Establisment" I think everyone is reading WAY to heavily into this. It was just some employees who want to have some fun.
- mogebier, on 03/22/2008, -1/+2As usual, you college kids are jumping in without learning the facts. ALL 3 candidates files were opened.
LOSER!!!
LEARN TO WATCH THE NEWS AND LEARN THINGS BEFORE MOUTHING OFF!!!
- click2lose, on 03/22/2008, -10/+4There's an old saying that "a downing man will catch at a straw". This is so applicable in the Barack Obama Democratic run. Why would anyone want to access his passport file? Are they doubting that he's American born? If you are curious check for his school records to see if he's a C student like George Bush. Check to see if his mother is really white. Why is America still so afraid of a black man with intelligence? Folks let's embrace the change, for heaven's sake it's 2008 and not 1950s. Let's tackle the health crisis of childhood obesity, get everyone exercising more than their jaws and teach natural weight loss in America as a way to reduce our health insurance costs.
- mgnesium, on 03/22/2008, -4/+1Half-black*

- Tex, on 07/28/2008, -14/+9This already made the front page. Please bury duplicates.
- cerealjynx, on 03/22/2008, -3/+9oops I buried you instead
- Aidenag, on 03/22/2008, -7/+1That one that went front page WAS the duplicate Shemdaimwood... that dupe that is on fp is even the exact url as this one i submitted before it...
- fedupamerica, on 03/22/2008, -10/+0I wonder how much Billary paid them?
- achill3z, on 03/22/2008, -10/+11@skitzzo... /agree. Anyone who thinks a Republican is involved just doesn't understand simple politics. Obama isn't a threat to anyone but Hillary. McCain is sitting back watching the other two idiots shoot themselves in the foot and throw sand in the sandbox. I swear, Obama supporters are so idealistic and will believe anything.
- nblsavage, on 03/22/2008, -5/+3McCain isn't doing anything but drooling and sending out for more Depends.
- rhabd0mancer, on 03/22/2008, -4/+2McCain will be gumming his peas in a nursing home by the time the election gets here.
- nblsavage, on 03/22/2008, -5/+3McCain isn't doing anything but drooling and sending out for more Depends.
- BlindingDawn, on 03/22/2008, -2/+16Privacy isn't that big of a deal until the shoe is on the other foot.
- Motivaaator, on 03/22/2008, -5/+3Wait a minute. They are pissed we took their (gov) wire taps away but they agree they shouldn't have been looking at one man's passport. You get the feeling they only care when we know about it? I do.
I wonder if Bush will change the statute on how long it takes to see his administrations papers. I mean we even have Nixon's tapes now. - brokenspatula, on 03/22/2008, -0/+25All 3 had their passport records looked at, it wasn't just obama
- TheRealToma, on 03/22/2008, -3/+9I think this is an important point that alot of these digg submissions fail to highlight. Im all for Obama, but I say leave the fear-mongering to the Bush cronies.
- chrisjs169, on 03/22/2008, -3/+3This was submitted a day ago - when glancing at a newspaper today, it also mentioned only Obama. Yahoo article from yesterday also only mentions Obama - http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080321/ts_alt_afp/us ...
- decadre, on 03/22/2008, -0/+2Your article is old...
This one ( http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080321/ap_on_el_pr/ob ... ), and I quote:
"State Department employees snooped through the passport files of three presidential candidates — Sens. Barack Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton and John McCain — and the department's inspector general is investigating."- chrisjs169, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1My point is is that this story was submitted an hour after that article. At the time, they didn't know McCain and Hillary's passport files were also breached.
- decadre, on 03/22/2008, -0/+2Your article is old...
- gypsi, on 03/22/2008, -4/+2heads need to roll for hillary and mccain as well. this is putrid *****
- fearlessfx, on 03/22/2008, -1/+7Passportgate 2008
- dselliott, on 03/22/2008, -8/+2Does this mean that Obama is scaring some people?
- mgnesium, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1It means that someone wants to dig up some dirt on all three candidates, if you read the other stories.
- sporg, on 03/22/2008, -9/+1You can see more on this here:

- aoki4, on 03/22/2008, -7/+0obama rox !!!!!!!
- lordmetroid, on 03/22/2008, -2/+6If it would have been anyone of use that has been violated... No one and I emphasize this. NO ONE would have been fired.
Because they are more equal than some of us. They are better of random reason.
DISGUSTING! - therealkdog, on 03/22/2008, -0/+12So... Who can we fire for looking at mine? oh no one? I must be insignificant like the rest of American Citizens
- mgnesium, on 03/22/2008, -5/+4Well, to be fair (sarcastically), he might be a Muslim. With all the homeland security concerns, I'm surprised it took this long for someone to investigate whether or not he's been sneaking off to Afghanistan to engage in secret Al-Qaeda training programs. Who better to infiltrate America and destroy it from within than a half-black Muslim named Hussein? We'd never suspect it! That's why BL is so sneaky.
- somespecial, on 03/22/2008, -1/+5I wonder if Wright was his emergency contact.
- Tonicks, on 03/22/2008, -6/+1It's the NeoCons and the BUSH agenda at work here, and we, the men and women of DIGG, are the only ones who can expose the truth.
Oh, wait. They all had they passport info breached. - waggdogg, on 03/22/2008, -4/+5This is just a ploy by the press to get the Obama and Rev. Wright story off the front page. The matter was not looked into until after receiving inquiries from a reporter on Thursday, a department spokesman said. Who told the reporter and how did he find out? The reporter knew before the senior management level did. This is looking at files by subcontractors who were fired.
Now the Democrats will look for a fire storm. - poopdigger, on 03/22/2008, -1/+13Funny how Digg stories don't like to mention that the records of McCain and Clinton were also breached.
Probably just some low-lifes trying to find a story and sell it for a quick buck and 5 minutes of fame- Pillage, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1it's MSNBC...what do you expect?
- themoosejuice, on 03/22/2008, -1/+6PASSPORT CENTER WORKERS ARE CONTRACTED OUT TO LOWEST BIDDER.
Many people dont realize that the people at work at the passport centers are not federal employees and only make about $10 an hour & hired from temp agencies. Ever look at the pool of applicants at a temp agency? They have small background checks and turn over is huge. They might know the company location that accesses the files, but are still figuring out who it was. Even then, its not likely the temp worker is there anymore anyway. Practically anyone getting a temp job at one of these jobs could have done this.- swiftheart, on 03/22/2008, -1/+0"Many people dont realize that the people at work at the passport centers are not federal employees and only make about $10 an hour & hired from temp agencies."
I'm flabbergasted that they're using low skill/low pay temp employees for processing vital identity documents. Well at least the DMV uses...oh *****
- swiftheart, on 03/22/2008, -1/+0"Many people dont realize that the people at work at the passport centers are not federal employees and only make about $10 an hour & hired from temp agencies."
- Bazillions, on 03/22/2008, -0/+5What kind of information in the passport records would be useful to the political operatives?
The article mentions that the most important bit is his social security number. Which could then be used to pull a credit report. Millions of Americans get their credit pulled when applying for jobs much less important than the President. Why shouldnt the potential prez be subjected to the same?
Or are we talking about the political operatives stealing his identity to Paypal campaign funds to Hillary/McCain?
Im not feeling the outrage. Yes, they should be fired for delving into personal files without cause. No, I dont see the potential harm.- swiftheart, on 03/22/2008, -0/+0"Millions of Americans get their credit pulled when applying for jobs much less important than the President. Why shouldnt the potential prez be subjected to the same?"
Well they could do it voluntarily to be sure, but the Constitution sets up specific requirements for becoming president, and good credit isn't one of them. So they couldn't pass a law to require it. - shupy, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1A legitimate request for a credit report is light years from some unknown person having access to your personal information.
The government has a huge amount of personal information, and everyone has reason to be concerned when they are so careless with it.
- swiftheart, on 03/22/2008, -0/+0"Millions of Americans get their credit pulled when applying for jobs much less important than the President. Why shouldnt the potential prez be subjected to the same?"
- lilricky, on 03/22/2008, -0/+8Uh, are we completely ignoring the fact that all 3 candidates records were pulled? Why is the attention only on Obama?
- dylio, on 03/22/2008, -4/+1Even if I don't support Obama, they stepped over a VERY VERY thick line.
- 007brendan, on 03/22/2008, -0/+2So it's fine for the federal government to monitor all our telephone and internet communication without a warrant; to interfere in our private relationships with our Bankers, Doctors and Employers, but it's "terribly disturbing" and wrong when someone takes a look at their passport records?!! Sound like the pot calling the kettle black to me.
- shupy, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1It's all wrong.
- shdwsclan, on 03/22/2008, -0/+0What the saddest thing is that they flag on "high-profile" people for supervisor checks......so what.....it actually means its THAT easy to steal someone's identity. All you have to do is work for one of these contracts and have access to the information and just pull up Anybody American and the supervisor will never know about it. This is probably one of the places that identity theft occurs.
- d3mag0gu3, on 03/22/2008, -4/+5Another stupid obama story with misleading title/description. Obamabots FTW!
- RetardoCrisp, on 03/22/2008, -0/+5It was more than JUST Obama. Hilary and McCain's identity and passport files were breached as well. Ah sensationalism sells.
- JointVenture, on 03/22/2008, -0/+3Chris Rock is afraid of as he puts it "*****" (his words, not mine). how did he put it?
"I know what all you black readers think. ... ''It isn't us, it's the media. The media has distorted our image to make us look bad.'' ... Please. ... When I go to the money machine at night, I'm not looking over my shoulder for the media. I'm looking for *****. -- from ''Rock This!'' by Chris Rock"

Passport spy allegedly worked for Obama adviser!
http://washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?A ...
This is Obama difusing an issue that his travels internationally have been exclusively to African 3rd world countries or to Muslim countries. Obama has never been to Europe of even Canada.
That makes him suspect on any number of issues, and his travel history verifies his closet black power,natiuonalist- socialist , Hewy Newton, politics under the public face he wants the American public to see to the exclusion of his true face.
Obamas passport records reveal this fact. - JointVenture, on 03/22/2008, -0/+5
"The State Department last night said one of the persons responsible for the inappropriate behavior was employed by an information technology firm headed by one of Mr. Obama’s foreign intelligence advisors."
Digg that bitches.- shupy, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1You are talking about a contract worker. They are temp employees. If anyone wanted to dig the dirt on political figures, working as an IT temp is one way to do it. You are given access to computer systems with no background check. So if someone was out to get dirt on Obama, makes sense that they'd go the contract employee route.
- TomPhoolery, on 03/22/2008, -0/+6Way to jump to conclusions, digg, and way to skew the story so it looks like Obama is the ONLY one who got breached. Every candidate who has a chance of winning has been affected...
- caponumen, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1Yep, this is where all this inevitably leads, and why the US as a free country is dead and gone.
The entire new system is politically motivated, terrorisum is just an excuse. - ConquistadorFor, on 03/22/2008, -0/+1another big news after what happend at the fox news.
whats happening seems like we having a nice year.. - atlandrew, on 03/22/2008, -0/+4Digg.com, "All Obama, all the time". Seriously, I can't get this much Obama coverage on his own ***** website. You had a good run digg, but you are just another blip in the left wing blogosphere now. RIP.
- Pillage, on 03/22/2008, -1/+2I sure hope they fire the people who accessed McCain and Hillary's file as well.....
- shupy, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1Firing a temp is no punishment. Aren't their laws about breaching state department security?
- gkiltz, on 03/22/2008, -0/+0Clinton's was breached LAST YEAR!!!!!
It took this long to find out about it because?
COMPLETELY INSANE!
The only thing that might work is a specific, written privacy law! - fedupamerica, on 03/22/2008, -1/+0ALL THE CANDIDATES WERE BREACHED! STOP!
- schnauzer93, on 03/22/2008, -0/+0McCain: "The United States of America values everyone's privacy"
Sure. Just keep telling yourself that.
