- granolajoe, on 09/30/2008, -3/+7"Swing voters." There's hardly any other term that makes me more angry. Perhaps in the past, candidates weren't so far apart from each other. But in this age of American politics, there's a huge divide between Democrat and Republican candidates.
In 2004 especially, it was annoying to hear that people "couldn't make up their mind" between George Bush and John Kerry. WTF?!?!?! What is there to make your mind up about? The two couldn't have any greater differences! They were absolute polar opposites!
And in this election, it's also very clear. You can either vote for the politics of corruption, fearmongering and economic disaster (McCain); or vote for change, honesty, actual fiscal responsibility, diplomacy and unity (Obama).- BullSenor, on 10/01/2008, -0/+6Swing voters aren't party affiliated.
McCain needs to prove he's not another Bush.
Obama needs to prove he's not in over his head.
I agree that 2004 hard to imagine.

- avataros, on 09/30/2008, -1/+6McCain decided to pick a running mate that turns off the independent/swing voter to keep his supposedly stable base happy. How badly things have fallen to the wayside....
- BullSenor, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5McCain's base never was happy. Hillary and Obama really had their guys fired up but many Republicans still viewed him as a RINO. It helped when he moved toward center with swing voters but he needed Palin to fire up his base.
- Crackerpat, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4Sarah Palin... SWING!
- AmyVernon, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3I believe you meant: SCHWING!
