- PatNolan, on 02/07/2008, -35/+60I voted for Obama today. Not out of any real support for him, but out of a deeply felt concern that Hillary might get the nomination if I failed to act. I still prefer Ron Paul; but among the viable candidates, Obama is the best of a sad lot.
- brjohnson789, on 02/07/2008, -45/+14So, between a turd sandwich and puke shake, you vote for the turd sandwich cause you might be able to finish it quicker? No brain freeze?

What about Barak Obama's current African "Christian" church?

Barack Obama is a member of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ. Its minister, and Obama's spiritual adviser, is the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. In 1982, the church launched Trumpet Newsmagazine; Wright's daughters serve as publisher and executive editor. Every year, the magazine makes awards in various categories. Last year, it gave ITS HIGHEST AWARD the Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Trumpeter Award to a man it said "truly epitomized greatness." That man is Louis Farrakhan.
But the rap on Obama is that he is a fog of a man. We know little about him, and, for all my admiration of him, I wonder about his mettle. The New York Times recently reported on Obama's penchant while serving in the Illinois legislature for merely voting "present" when faced with some tough issues. Farrakhan, in a strictly political sense, may be a tough issue for him. This time, though, "present" will not do.
What do we know about Muslim Louis Farrakhan?

Wright also told The New York Times in an interview published March 6: "When his (Obama's) enemies find out that in 1984 I went to Tripoli" with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan to visit Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, "a lot of his Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in hell."

What is Trinity United Church of Christ like?
Trinity United Church of Christ adopted the Black Value System written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee chaired by Vallmer Jordan in 1981. (The church removed the information you are now reading soon after Obama began to run for office of the president of the United States of America!)
1. Commitment to God
2. Commitment to the Black Community
3. Commitment to the Black Family
4. Dedication to the Pursuit of Education
5. Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence
6. Adherence to the Black Work Ethic
7. Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect
8. Disavowal of the Pursuit of "Middleclassness"
9. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the Black Community
10. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions
11. Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System
12. Personal commitment to embracement of the Black Value System.
Now if the above was rewritten what would we see:
1. Commitment to God
2. Commitment to the White Community
3. Commitment to the White Family
4. Dedication to the Pursuit of Education
5. Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence
6. Adherence to the White Work Ethic

In sharp contrast to his tough talk about ethics reform in government, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., approached a well-known Illinois political fixer under active federal investigation, Antoin "Tony" Rezko, for "advice" as he sought to find a way to buy a house shortly after being elected to the United States Senate.
While Rezko's wife paid the full asking price for the land, Obama paid $300,000 under the asking price for the house. The house sold for $1,650,000 and the price Rezko's wife paid for the land was $625,000.- EditorResponse, on 02/07/2008, -7/+4"We were always playing on the white man's court . . . by the white man's rules," he writes. So is your last sentence a paraphrase of the first part of the post or are you just making ***** up? How does the first part of the post make him a paranoid militant? - MacEnvy, on 02/07/2008, -3/+4Well, Huckabee is undoubtedly pretty happy that Jesus (decidedly a Jew) died "for his sins". So I guess he comes closest if you discount motivation. But I'm pretty sure none of them are advocating it.

- Ademan, on 02/07/2008, -4/+17It wasn't trying to say obama == hitler it was saying that nothing mentioned in that "article" was anything hitler lacked, in other words, if you're dumb enough to pick your leader for those reasons (rather than real issues and proposed policies) you're not necessarily getting a good candidate...
- FluffyWolf, on 02/07/2008, -6/+2I don't think Hitler was "A Strong, Black Role Model". But yes, those were very weak reasons to choose Obama over someone else.

- StealthMonkey, on 02/07/2008, -3/+15It is people like you that help me not cry myself to sleep. When I read this article and saw all the rhetoric, I started screaming about how there were no issues. I'm glad to hear that I am not alone.
If people want to support him for his issues, great, that is what America is about. But the people who support him for reasons like "It feels like the right time for America to elect Barack Obama as our president" scare me. - Daz3, on 02/07/2008, -1/+7Before i read the article i knew that there would be nothing included about policy. This shouldn't be a popularity contest...
- zerosumgame, on 02/07/2008, -1/+0Definitely a lot of rhetoric, but mentioning the bill to make interrogations filmed, and his plans for investing in technology research and appointing a Chief Technology Officer seemed like substantive and important points.

- mikeas, on 02/07/2008, -14/+10Just another uneducated Obama supporter. Obama has quite a few of those. You people are looking past the issues and falling for the cover. Haven't you ever heard "don't judge a book by it's cover"? 95% percent of Obama supporter's know nothing about him other than what Oprah told them.
- Thumper13, on 02/07/2008, -6/+7Perhaps you just haven't taken the time to find out his positions and what he plans to do. It's really easy to find out.
No, you just make wild judgments about people, that works better.- mikeas, on 02/07/2008, -1/+2I have read his positions and do favor him over Clinton. The point I am making is that if you ask most people why they support Obama they will give you an answer that includes nothing about his positions. Kind of like the "10 Reasons Why I Support Barack Obama" article I commented on.
- Fr4nk2012, on 02/07/2008, -0/+2You know Thumper I live in Illinois, and thusly I come across many a Barack supporter. Frequently I will ask them, "What makes you support Obama and why should ?". The answer I always get is , "I'ts time for a change". But they never tell me what he will change or how he will change it. So I agree with Mikeas on this one.
- tardpicard, on 02/07/2008, -3/+2I voted for Obama. I am a middle aged, white, college educated American. I'm clearly not a brilliant as you, but I think I know what I am doing. Please stop making ridiculous statements, you cheapen the debate for us all.
- Thumper13, on 02/07/2008, -6/+7Perhaps you just haven't taken the time to find out his positions and what he plans to do. It's really easy to find out.
- RRJackson, on 02/07/2008, -8/+2Heh...exactly. And having been burned in effigy once in Malaysia, I'm having a hard time finding a desire to see someone who grew up in one of those Islamic island nations as our Commander in Chief. ;-)

- MacEnvy, on 02/07/2008, -0/+3@RRJackson
And with one comment, you've gone from a cosmopolitan curiosity to my personal hero. Bravo. - RRJackson, on 02/07/2008, -0/+2HA!
It was close to 20 years ago. I didn't know anything about the country at all. It was supposed to be ten days in big karaoke joints (5000+ capacity) and they were letting us set up sports betting on the bouts, even though they were scripted. So the whole thing was like a license to print money. The promoters had these big 15-foot tall cutouts of the girls and MCs, the shows sold out...and the customers were perfect gentlemen. No issues there. But the protests were the kind of stuff you have nightmares about. Heh...nobody could leave the clubs. Everyone had to sleep inside the arenas because there was no way to guarantee that everyone wouldn't be killed.
- RRJackson, on 02/07/2008, -1/+3They apparently don't like it much when you bring topless female boxing to their karaoke clubs. ;-)
- MacEnvy, on 02/07/2008, -0/+5You were burned in effigy? What the ***** did you do?
- VelvetoneFusion, on 02/07/2008, -0/+3Obama has always reminded me too much of Sam Neill in Omen 3
- babar77, on 02/07/2008, -2/+1Because it isn't just the issues stupid. (not trying to be mean, just a reference to "it's the economy stupid"). Issues are only half the equation, ability to lead and make those issues and policies a reality by working through the system and all the pitfalls, is the other half. Hillary and Obama are so close on issues, the debate does not belong there. A debate between a Republican and a Democrat should be about both the issues, and their ability to lead. For Example, Hillary may be on the right side of policy with healthcare, but her inability to lead is why she will be a poor president.
Newsflash: not everything in life is completely objective. There are definably non-tangible forces at work within society everyday, and I'm not talking about religion either - more like psychology. RP and his supporters ignore this at their own peril.- Fr4nk2012, on 02/07/2008, -0/+2fail.
"example, Hillary may be on the right side of policy with healthcare"
epic fail - koob, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1democracy's biggest flaw: people are stupid. Steven Colbert is a likable guy but that by no means makes him presidential. Your "right side of healthcare" comment tells me that you're a liberal. Now, if a republican, a very conservative republican, came a long and walked and talked just like obama would you vote for him?
- Fr4nk2012, on 02/07/2008, -0/+2fail.
- msk275, on 02/07/2008, -1/+0I dugg this on accident because I thought it said 'HILLARY was..a guy too.' meaning she's a man in a woman's body. I thought that was funny, but then I see what it actually says and I'm like... wow, some people can be retarded...
Do us a favor and get in a boat with Ron Paul and float away to Neverland, where the things he wants to do would fly. I used to support Ron Paul also for the Repubs, then I woke up and saw that the things he wants to do can't work, but I can see that with that ship going down in flames we are going to have a seriously jealous internet community filled with splinter Paul cults.
And I would keep going, but it'd probably be a waste of time as no one will probably read this comment and I'll get dugg down for somewhat blowing up a seriously retarded comment. - neocognitism, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1koob, if you really look like your picture, I have a huge crush on you.

2. Timing
Does the author really think that Obama is in the right place and the right time? Is America going to vote for a leftwing, black Democrat...when even half of the Democratic delegates don't want a black man to be president? Cue the KKK Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia.
3. Religious Stance
Check out Obama's church...if you have the tolerance for such things. Anyway, I think that Obama is a closet Muslim.
http://www.newsmax.com/kessler/Obama_Church_Racism ...
4. Political Talent and Ability (and yes, Experience)
Well, no one is going to get up on stage and say that they have no political talent and ability. Hello?!? But, Obama really doesn't, now does he?
5. Talent to Inspire
Yes, Obama inspires me to vote for his opposition.
6. Not a Clinton
It used to be that leftwing types just LOVED Clinton. Weird how their feelings changes over time.
7. Bi-Partisanship
Bullcrap. Obama has one of the most liberal voting records in history.
8. Understanding and Views About Technology
Great. Obama read Popular Science in an airport once.
9. A Strong, Black Role Model
How about just...a strong role model, period. Man, you Dem supporters just cannot keep race out of it, can you?
10. Intelligence
Some of the worst politicians in history, both in America and abroad, had book smarts. But, wisdom is much harder to get.
What a weak puff piece for Obama.- brentinkc, on 02/07/2008, -5/+9Jimmy, I've seen you bash Obama a lot, but I have yet to see who you're backing. Would you care to enlighten us as to your magnificent choice for the best President ever so we can bash on them for a while?
- RuffRidr, on 02/07/2008, -4/+9Does it matter? This is a article about Obama, not Jimmy's candidate.
- brentinkc, on 02/07/2008, -1/+11Of course it matters. We're having a discussion here.
- neptunebk, on 02/07/2008, -13/+2Article? Its some gays opinion on obama. Why hell do we need to to digg this?
- JimmySpaza, on 02/07/2008, -13/+8I haven't decided. Defintely going to be a third-party candidate. They won't have a chance...but I am tired of voting for the lesser of two evils.
- brentinkc, on 02/07/2008, -4/+5Ahh, you're going the "Nader" route. I believe that's the attitude towards politics that got W in office.
Thank god we dodged the bullet there! Whew! - sparkysko, on 02/07/2008, -4/+3Yeah! Anyone who votes for anyone but a republican or a democrat hates America!
- babar77, on 02/07/2008, -1/+1It's always easy to bash people/ideas when you yourself do not put any forward. So why don't you enlighten us to main things you're looking for in a candidate, and please this time include some sources, since you obviously overlook all of Obama's.
- JimmySpaza, on 02/09/2008, -1/+1What I am looking for:
1) Abide by a literal interpretation of the U.S. Constitution. Period. Do NOT interpret it to fit the times. Change it if you want, but don't dismiss it simply because changing it would be too time consuming.
2) Pull all troops out of all foreign countries immediately unless there is a direct threat to America.
3) Destroy any country or group that seeks to hurt America. And don't rebuild that country later. Leave it as a sign for the rest of the world.
4) Put half of Congress in jail where they belong since most are criminals to one extent or the other anyway.
5) Secure ALL borders immediately using troops.
6) Kick out ALL illegal aliens.
Well, that's enough for now. What do you think?
- JimmySpaza, on 02/09/2008, -1/+1What I am looking for:
- Fr4nk2012, on 02/07/2008, -0/+3So usually I see your name and bury immediatly but this time I agree with you. I can't believe you are being dugg down whilst moronic comments such as brentinkc's are dugg up.

Bill Oreilly - hiimcliff, on 02/07/2008, -2/+6yeah i have to agree with that. i can tolerate right wing propaganda but at some point you have to draw the line. some of the stuff jimmy said was borderline bigotry. he talks about how dems loved clinton now things have changed. same for republicans and bush, so what! and closet muslim? obama has repeatedly stated he was not. but even if he was, what does that say about this country and the republican party if being a muslim would ruin his chances of being a nominee. 3rd, what does a liberal voting record have to do with being bi-partisan? even "mavricks" like john mccain sometime vote liberal to do what they feel is right. jimmy please cut the crap.

- stockjones, on 02/07/2008, -1/+3I dont think people are bashing, but that list is like a top 10 of the most generic rhetorical themes used by every politician running for office. if you say top 10 reasons, you need to state the issues, what his specific plans are to resolve them and then explain why they are better than the other candidates.
- babar77, on 02/07/2008, -1/+1Not in the democratic race, when all the issues are WELL known (they've debated 18 times now), and there is little difference. In the democratic primary, it's come down to the other half of the equation, and that's ability to lead. This also happens to be the hardest to judge, but both candidates have given us some examples as to who they are in this regards. Hillary has not moral courage, will lie, cheat, and sell out her supporters - Obama has shown he sticks to his guns, and changes his policies and ideas when there is good reason too, not just when it's politically advantageous.

- Lyk4n, on 02/07/2008, -49/+46At least Ron Paul is losing hardcore everywhere. In a few days we won't have to worry about burying their crap for 4 more years..

We are legionzzz!- Lyk4n, on 02/07/2008, -16/+5You are too few and too weak. The only thing you Paulites do is annoy people. Your friends in my area vandalized several peoples yards with your signs, even going so far as to replace a "Polling Place" sign with a Ron Paul sign, you're all children with very little thought put into anything. - johnpaul191, on 02/07/2008, -3/+14He has run for president as a Libertarian. I am sure a lot of his people will call for him to run (again) as a third party, probably any third party really. Supposedly some Libertarians want him to run, and according to their site: The LP presidential nomination convention will be held between Friday, May 23 and Monday, May 26
I guess he could stay in the race as a Republican till he runs out of money and make the most of the media coverage. I'm not into Ron Paul, but i like that he brings up topics NONE of the other candidates will talk about. - stockjones, on 02/07/2008, -12/+4Yeah the perceived large audience of internet Ron Paul fans was actually very small.
- unclerichard, on 02/07/2008, -0/+10Which is not surprising taking into account that republicans who didn't vote for him are the same people who voted for GWB twice. Ron Paul would have a better chance if he ran as a democrat.

- babar77, on 02/07/2008, -2/+2Supporting the constitution is fine, but he has an overly strict view of it. His economic policies are crazy, and completely ignore history. And he has no ability to lead.
- jefferygomer, on 02/07/2008, -0/+2Overly strict view? The constitution is the law. They make an oath to uphold it. You cannot have an "overly" strict view of what you vow to uphold. Not being strict to it leads to warrantless wiretapping and overdrawn and expensive wars.
Economic polices are crazy because he doesn't want the government to tell you and regulate how to use your money?
Ignore history? He's the only candidate on either side that brings up historical evidence!
I mean no offense to anyone, but I'm really exhausted of these baseless claims. I think the most valuable point you have presented is an inability to lead, because he hasn't really demonstrated that throughout his campaign.

- praxisseizure, on 02/07/2008, -1/+8No one ever gives a logically sound GOOD reason NOT to vote Ron Paul. Ever. Just give me one, and don't bring up abortion. That's not a life or death issue for the country.
- guinpen, on 02/07/2008, -4/+2Well, I support illegal aliens being able to become citizens and I don't support building a giant fence between the US and Mexico. Federally funded stem cell research would also be nice, as well as universal health care. It seems like disagreeing with a candidate's views is a fine reason not to vote for them.
- jefferygomer, on 02/07/2008, -0/+2He voted for that bill that fence bill, but he's spoken out against that the fence. He did like the other parts of the bill though.
I support stem cell research, but the worst thing that could happen is having the federal government fund it, because the result will be an expensive result that will take even longer for it to happen.
I'm not trying to make a point here, because I am honestly curious: Does anyone know of any successful federally funded research?
I will concede that people want to have good health care, and one could argue for or against UHC, but my argument right now is it is a terrible time to bring forth a plan that would generate such a huge expense right now. The United States needs to stop spending money, and probably even needs to raise taxes. The debt really needs attention, and you can't print enough money to take care of it. Fiscal responsibility needs to be a priority, and either we deal with the debt now, or it deals with us later.
- jefferygomer, on 02/07/2008, -0/+2He voted for that bill that fence bill, but he's spoken out against that the fence. He did like the other parts of the bill though.
- b00le, on 02/07/2008, -7/+2How about five: racism, homophobia, paranoia, religious bigotry, and actually, abortion is literally a life or death issue for many citizens. Libertarians are deluded; you can't get sensible politics from a John Wayne movie. It would in practice work like this: Libertarianism => Anarchy => Gangsterism => Fascism. Sure, Paul is right about Iraq; about everything else he is just Right -- Far Right -- and the Digg community's enthusiasm for him is an indictment of their staggering ignorance and naiveté.
- BordrGuy108, on 02/07/2008, -0/+5How about actually researching a candidate's platform before spouting off offensive and inaccurate claims? If you genuinely disagreed with Ron Paul's ideas about civil liberties, the role of the federal government, or economic policy that would be fine. You, however, have obviously never researched Ron Paul's platform and therefore shouldn't spread misinformation.
- jefferygomer, on 02/07/2008, -0/+2"Libertarianism => Anarchy => Gangsterism => Fascism"
That's probably the most ignorant thing I've read this week. That's like me saying universal health care will lead to an Orwellian society, also Fascism.
Another thing is if you are talking about real libertarianism, then your "five" problems with Paul are completely countered against because libertarianism is anti-collectivism in that government operates under the philosophy that all mankind is equal, and it is individualism that succeeds. You make yourself.
- praxisseizure, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1I STILL HAVE YET TO READ A GOOD ONE! Come on People. This is pathetic. So far all I've seen is bickering about who crapped and who's going to clean it up. Where's the SUBSTANCE!? Core problems and solutions please.

3. Real ID
4. Iraq War funding
5. Iraq War funding
6. Iraq War funding

9. Wants to expand the military-industrial complex by another $50 billion dollars (it's already $515 billion)

12. At one point he said a nuclear first strike was on the table against Iran
13. He's refused to take a leadership role in the fight against the FISA bill, legislation that would directly affect his presidency

- p0tent1al, on 02/07/2008, -1/+10I have another. He doesn't even talk about monetary policy. I mean if you choose to vote for Obama that is your decision, but if he ever debated Ron Paul he would get utterly destroyed. All Obama talks about is tax cuts for the middle class, wow thanks Obama that really saves us from the destruction of the US dollar! /sarcasm.
You know all in all, I'm really not surprised that Obama is the favorite. I guess a 1-dimensional president matches the 1-dimension people in this country voting for him. I mean he's better than McCain, but FFS sake people he doesn't even talk about the issues! Are you really listening what comes out of this guy's mouth?! All he offers are quick and dirty solutions that only serve to ease what is happening in this country, not any plan to fix it whatsoever.
As long as the Federal Reserve stays intact and the effects portrayed by the movies Money As Debt still occur, it will be business as usual in this country.- ronaldinho, on 02/07/2008, -0/+2Then again, has other main candidates address those issues as well? You are right though about Ron Paul destroying Obama on the monetary issue. In fact, he will destroy every candidate based on that. He's got such a grasp on it (I agree on going back to the gold standard, basing our assets on something tangible), and if he didn't advocate de-regulation (which I disagree with completely), I would have voted for him.
But well, if Obama shows more of a willingness to first get out of Iraq and play the diplomatic game with Iran (which is what we should do), then I will take him over the rest. Think of just how much money we free up simply by getting out of Iraq. And rolling back tax cuts for the wealthy.....that's a biggie for me.

Maybe that's because there is really nothing different between McCain/Hillary/Obama. Ooops, that might be taboo. Oh well. Its just ubelievable that people are trying to distinguish POLITICIANS from each other based on character; that seems about as useful as distinguishing a rabid pitbull from a rabid rotweiller. They're both going to rip something off of you.

- eclectro, on 02/07/2008, -2/+2The thing that separates it for me is actually something the frontrunner candidates have been touting:experience. Obama clearly has the least amount "experience," and hence I find what he has to say more credible. Whether he can really bring about change or not, is another question. One can't wonder if one lobby becomes extremely popular with the election of Obama: blacks, and the issues that affect them.
- streak, on 02/07/2008, -0/+3Obama doesn't say anything. He merely has a deep soothing voice that spouts high school-level rhetoric.

- cyberdork, on 02/07/2008, -3/+3Can someone please explain to me why until now most of the pledged delegates have not been "awarded" yet
According to cnn.com only in California 370 pledges delegates are to be awarded, but until now they only list 22 for Clinton and 12 for Obama. You see the same with many other states.
Why can't I find any good site which lists the ALL awarded delegates per state?
I mean we saw in Nevada how meaningless the vote count is. Clinton won with 51% over 45% for Obama, but both got 14 delegates.
Clinton won her states mostly in the 50s percentage wise with Obama scoring in the 40s, however Obama won his states mostly in the 60s with Clinton in the 30s. So even with Clinton winning NY and CA, this still doesn't mean she will have more delegates!
When will we see the final numbers?- jayhawk, on 02/07/2008, -0/+1perhaps they are still counting mail in ballots and perhaps things were close enough in many precincts to force a recount.

You're welcome. - iofthestorm, on 02/07/2008, -0/+1California's delegate allocation system is complex, and so are many others. However, the Obama campaign has estimated that they came out on top with 845 delegates versus 836 or something like that, but I'd take that with a pinch of salt.

- TheNik, on 02/07/2008, -17/+12This is a very moving article. I really do hope (and if I were Christian, I would prey, too, because this is serious business) that Obama is our next president. He is exactly what this now ***** up country needs. I hope my fellow Americans can see this and really make informed decisions. Please, for the sake of the country, make the right choice.

- 9thisisme, on 02/07/2008, -13/+22What experience...he has very little. He hasn't even won his seat back in the Senate. Also...yes, he has charisma but he teaches public speaking. So I guess he's good at emotionally manipulating the masses. Not hard to do, there have been plenty of people capable of this in the past.
- amiches, on 02/07/2008, -6/+9He's held office longer than Clinton has. No one running has the experience to be President, because none of them have ever been President. This experience issue is an idiotic red herring.

Senator, United States Senate, 2005-present
Keynote Speaker, 2004 Democratic National Convention
Senator, Illinois State Senate, 1996-2004.
His experience is in the Illinois State Senate-what a joke.
He hasn't even won his US senate seat back.

- gullydwarf, on 02/07/2008, -2/+3The only reason Hillary is a senator or running for office at all is because of Bill Clinton's presidency. It has already been nearly 20 years of Bush and Clinton. It seems like we just vote for the most convienent canidate. At least Obama earned his place, and wasn't handed it by pundits because he is from a political family.
- 9thisisme, on 02/07/2008, -1/+4I'm not a clinton fan either...so this comment does not apply to me. And yes, I completely agree that she got it because of her husband. - mcool119, on 02/07/2008, -18/+39The Obama spam has become as bad as the Ron Paul spam ever was. I wonder how many of you just jumped ship to the new flavor-of-the-month candidate. Really shows that even if you're not mainstream, you can still be a sheep. I'm afraid that the same Ron Paul or Obama supporters who will call other mainstream candidates' supporters "sheep" are simply following their own crowd, or the liberal propaganda in this case. I see all these complaints about bias on Fox and CNN, but Digg has become more biased than either network; people need to be more objective.
- Battleloser, on 02/07/2008, -12/+10When the Ron Paul craze started, I really thought people were starting to understand things. But as you say, they've all jumped ship for the flavour of the month candidate. They are sheep. - JavanSClark, on 02/07/2008, -5/+8Interesting. IF we aren't Ron Paul supporters we're sheep. But if we follow your lead we're not.. how's that work exactly? The whole argument you use is basically: They're out to get you! Trust us!
- Battleloser, on 02/07/2008, -0/+4I speak not of the people who've always been socialists, though I have other things to say to them. I mean the people who were Ron Paul supporters 2 months ago and Barrack Obama supporters now.

http://digg.com/educational/The_best_video_of_Ron_ ...
It's really just that a lot of us are tired of explaining over and over and over to people why Ron Paul is a better candidate than all of them. Another reason is because all of the obvious scandals going on with Diebold that happened in previous years. Another reason is because of information about delegates, in particular SuperDelegates. Another reason is because most of these caucases and polls are frauded. Another reason is because Ron Paul receives total media blackout.
A lot of us just believe there is no reason to even bother with it anymore. The people of this country could clearly give a ***** less. Most of us have decided to just go out and simply vote for Ron Paul, instead of bothering to change the minds of a closed minded nation. This whole process is ***** and rigged, and there is no purpose in it.
Honestly, I don't think the people of this country DESERVE a president like Ron Paul. The people of this country don't want to be free. They want the government to take care of them, to take their money and decide what to do with it. The people of this country want to work 2 jobs, and come home and be fed opinions masked as facts from Fox News. I think most of us have come to these realizations. Like I said, I don't think the people of this country deserve a president like Ron Paul.
Last thing. That Ron Paul submission received 18,000 diggs. That is no fluke, that is no fad, that is the product of no spammers. That is from 18,000+ people who genuinely believe the words of Ron Paul, more diggs than Obama has EVER been close to receiving.- kolinkoolface2, on 02/07/2008, -1/+8well said. Yes, Hillary and Obama are pretty similar on most of the domestic issues, but Obama is more apprehensive about being agreesive on foreign policy than Clinton. Hillary is more likely to become a war pig.
- enginemd, on 02/07/2008, -3/+4Just a general thought on all the folks wanting to be president...Why are we still paying them to do a job that we elected them for. The other day the senate couldn't pass legislation because too many were out on the campaign trail. Shouldn't they do the job they were hired for in the first place, no work = no pay. I know if I don't show up for work I don't get paid why should they continue to get paid and get all the perks that go along with the job if they can't be there to do it.
- praxisseizure, on 02/07/2008, -0/+1You have no idea who they work for. It's not you, or me or any of the common people inhabiting this country. Thank god they're all campaigning. I don't want to pay a president or a congress to screw me over anymore. I wish I'd had the ability to Donald Trump at least the last 35 presidents because they helped ***** all over my liberties. Why would I want more of that? Why would you? You know they don't do what they say they will.
- chesbo, on 02/07/2008, -10/+32Wow, not even one reason that includes his stances on the issues!?! Wake the f*ck up people!! Wow just wow
- koko775, on 02/07/2008, -1/+3Because the differences in their stances aren't large. I'm more concerned with the method by which they pass reform than the reforms they pass, for this reason. Hillary is not a conciliatory person and stands little chance of bringing Republicans and Democrats together for real change. If we pass reforms without a consensus we risk regressing to a worse state if a contrary president/senate/house prevails next, and has a different agenda.

I would prefer Paul, but Mitt is the only one with experience in the private sector, which is appealing considering our past presidents. Although he has proven to be a flip flopper, so in the end I would like Paul but sadly only on Digg does he have the majority.

- redxii, on 02/07/2008, -7/+12Hillary wants to give drivers licenses to illegal immigrants, and Obama followed suit to woo the Latino community. I don't approve of that, but it also looks dim for Ron Paul.
Where the ***** do either get off at allowing illegals to have driver's licenses? First of all, if someone is illegal, their support don't mean squat because they are not allowed to vote in the first place. Second, why did I have to prove to the DPS I was born in the U.S. and that I wasn't a threat? They are just going to let these people continue to stay here and punch holes in our laws? Give them a driver's license and they'll want more rights.- slyzxx, on 02/07/2008, -1/+3Because americans have become too lazy small jobs they hire illegals and pay them less. Even if you didn`t want to argue a huge workforce of menial jobs are taken by illegals.

- Gemfinder, on 02/07/2008, -2/+1I was against illegals getting driver's licenses but then I sat down and thought it through. Fact: they'll drive anyway, with or without the license. Issuing licenses would allow us to keep track of them.

- latinjones, on 02/07/2008, -1/+2LOL! I don't support the guy but you cannot be serious? Can you?
- UnrealMiniMe, on 02/07/2008, -0/+2Obama may be part of the establishment*, but the "muslim terrorist" comment is out of line. I think Obama's probably a good person at heart, but he lacks a proper understanding of economics, foreign policy, the Constitution, the dangers of large government, and or especially the real motives of his "advisors" (who were the power brokers pulling the strings to make him a media sensation, in case their #1 choice Hillary somehow didn't work out). Obama's status quo policies may be terrible for America, but I don't think he deserves actual character defamation.
*and thus will continue driving us off a cliff - except he'll do it a little bit differently. Obama will drive off a cliff he doesn't see at a smooth 90 MPH while singing softly and making us feel warm and fuzzy on the inside, whereas Hillary or McCain will stare at us with a maniacal wide-eyed grin and the "wicked witch of the west" music playing in the background as they put the pedal to the metal and fly off at 150 MPH,
- HPMNick, on 02/07/2008, -6/+1I do like some of Obama's policies (not all though)... I hate McCain's poilicies...
Despite this, I don't think Obama has a chance against McCain in an election. I don't think the country is tolerant enough to vote him in.- elipabst, on 02/07/2008, -0/+5I disagree. McCain has alot of problems within his own Republican base. In case you haven't noticed, even the standard Republican talking heads (Limbaugh, Hannity, etc) are railing on him 24-7 hoping to get enough people moving to anyone but him. Even Anne Coulter said she would vote for Hilllary before him...WTF! So if you have a candidate like Obama who can not only get his own base around him, but also draw some independents and republicans, then McCain is pretty much done.
Interestingly, Hilliary actually suffers from the same problem but even worse. Not only is she not all that popular within the democratic party, but she absolutely galvanizes the Republican party like no else except maybe Ted Kennedy. Republicans will be coming out of the woodwork specfically to vote *against* her. So the Democrats are going to totally ***** themselves if Hillary gets the nomination. America is begging for the Democrats to put forward an even half-way decent candidate and they're trying hard to blow it.- HPMNick, on 02/07/2008, -0/+1Firstly, the republicans will vote for McCain long before they vote for Obama.
Secondly, Obama is garnering so much support because he is most viable opponent is heavily hated upon by many. I don't think Hillary has a chance either..
McCain is the perfect republican candidate because he is moderate enough to not alienate all democrats . I think you will find that primaries are a much different beast than the general elections. The people voting in primaries are much more interested in politics and the actual issues. General elections aren't anything like the primaries. People vote based on looks and on impressions.
Obama isn't going to happen... and neither is Hillary for that matter. Gore had a good chance if he would've run... now its going to be Republican again, and we'll have a total of 12 years in the *****.- elipabst, on 02/07/2008, -0/+1They may not vote for Obama, but that's not my point. The point is that they'll stay home rather than vote for McCain. He has serious issues with his base, especially on core GOP issues like amnesty for illegal immigrants. I'm not exactly sure why that is such an issue, but that *really* pisses them off. If Obama can rally most of his base and independents while Republicans stayed home cause frankly they aren't all that excited to vote for someone they can't stand. Obviously there is a race issue, but lets be honest, the kind of people who won't vote for a candidate because he's black wouldn't be voting Democrat or likely for a woman either. So that's really negligible.
I think Gore would actually lose. Like you said, the Presidential election is more about a popularity contest and Gore has a tendency to rub people the wrong way with his dry personality. Standing their next to war-hero McCain, it makes you want to steal his lunch money or something.- HPMNick, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1Well, like I said, I don't think Hillary will win either.. which puzzles me at the democratic nominee choices..
You may be right.. the republicans may stay home.. Personally, I think a lot of people will stay home this election. I think there will be a much lower turnout than 2004...
- HPMNick, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1Well, like I said, I don't think Hillary will win either.. which puzzles me at the democratic nominee choices..

- Mekun, on 02/07/2008, -8/+6O i thought i read 10 reasons why i dont give a f**k about your opinoin or blog, almost dugg you up.
Just kidding i was never going to digg you up. - slyzxx, on 02/07/2008, -8/+4People keep talking about RON PAUL he`s done gone finished he has no chance of winning.
AS far as clinton i think she`s a witch of the west were already or going to be in a recession with george dubya bush cause of the war, she wants to go to iran next i mean common who wants that right now our country is a mess.- eclectro, on 02/07/2008, -0/+1I'm just not seeing it in the tea leaves how he could win. Are you talking if he decides to run as an independent?
- OriginalLucid1, on 02/07/2008, -8/+24So,basically you are going to vote for him because it feels good. God help us.
- eclectro, on 02/07/2008, -2/+2Wow. There's a concept. Humans do things because it feels good.
- iainc, on 02/07/2008, -0/+1Look at were logic and reason have gotten you so far... and weep.
- AppleMacMan, on 02/07/2008, -11/+6The 11th reason to support Obama is that he is a Mac user. :)
- geekee, on 02/07/2008, -1/+4Great, so he spends too much money for a computer. Yet another reason not to vote for him.
- agentem, on 02/07/2008, -0/+1Mac user? Sounds like he's pandering to the minority voter.
- iainc, on 02/07/2008, -0/+1... oh for heaven's sake. So am I, does it matter?

- life38, on 02/07/2008, -2/+0 The Regis and Kelly show is an example of another form of just talking and not doing anything about making an impact to improve the lives of others. Can a show like Regis and Kelly motivate people to make change? Can a show like Regis and Kelly lead and declare war on an important issue? The presidential candidates are asking each of us to consider who will make the greatest impact. Will Obama, Clinton, Romney or McCain be your voice to declare war on your most important issue? Obama is mine. If you do not vote you will deserve any negative result you feel you get. You have no right to complain if you do not participate. Make a difference, give your time or money or both. True leaders are willing to lead and not wait to follow. Obama is not lip service and is willing to make sense about drivers licenses, health care and the war to name a few. If you want to see what Generation O thinks of the issues check out his cartoon. http://mynonprofitwebsite.com/blog/category/emo-ca ...
- ejpusa, on 02/07/2008, -1/+2I'm thinking that Huckabee is SO CRAZY (let's make that completely and utterly insane) that we SHOULD really make him president! Give the people what they want. Does that mean after he dumps the IRS I don't have to pay all those back taxes? The earth is only 6,000 years old? Sure, why not? Lets go for 5,000, we're still shiny and new! Wait, what cloud is God hiding in? Huck is the man! :-) YIPES!
- eclectro, on 02/07/2008, -0/+1I myself worry about the IRS thing myself, and wish that the way he would make taxes fair is by making corporations pay their fair share rather than set up faux offices in tax havens.
But your post loses a bit of credibility with the 6,000 years old thing, as he has been very careful in his campaign. I honestly think this will eventually become an issue to Christians the way flat earth theories did, or sun rotating around earth did etc. Granted, he doesn't want to alienate his base or a potential voter, but no candidate wants to do that.
I kinda do not want Huckabee to make it, because he will be blamed for all of the ills caused by others that came before him, the same way that Clinton was blamed.

- ahutsell, on 02/07/2008, -6/+20Wow.. nothing but smoke and mirrors. Ron Paul is the most intelligent man out of any of these clowns with facts to back it up. It's a shame he doesn't get the credit he deserves (thank you media). It's also a shame that everyone votes on who they think would be their best friend if they were to meet..or who they'd rather go to a movie with, have the best time playing a game of Twister together with Cutting Crews "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight" playing in the background. Wtf? Ridiculous.. Stop SAYING and giving opinions (I think we should do this..do that), we KNOW you want to do all these wonderful things and want to help all of us at the same time! WTF are you going to do about it? That's what I want to know. Ron Paul knows... (ex. $1 trillion in spending just on sending troops worldwide? What for?! To provoke everybody? Bring them all home, we are in debt remember?) ... too bad Obama will be the next President, and don't be surprised if something happens to him shortly after he's elected. Sad.
Now for one of my favorites this time of year (posted on Digg before)

- Risktaker, on 02/07/2008, -5/+6Wow, Can this digg site be more Anti Hillary and Pro Obama?
It's tough to read sometimes. stop acting like a bunch of homers and leave your bias at the door.- TheNik, on 02/07/2008, -0/+1It's a healthy balance, it seems, of Paulites and Obamaniacs. Someone is going to ***** up and support both then cause a black hole that collapses the universe. :(
- eclectro, on 02/07/2008, -0/+1"stop acting like a bunch of homers and leave your bias at the door."
so you're new here??
- gmillerd, on 02/07/2008, -1/+2he sounds like he is running against bush, sadly I think people think bush is running in 2008
- geekee, on 02/07/2008, -5/+2Someone who's policy is to immediately withdraw troops regardless of the situation when elected has no heart. Someone who thinks buying drugs from Canada is sound policy. Drugs are cheaper in Candada because of govt. regulations. Making it legal for Americans to buy drugs there is a dishonest way to regulate the price of drugs in America
- latinjones, on 02/07/2008, -0/+2I'm interested. What goverment regulations does Canada have in place to keep the price of drugs low? How is making it legal for Americans to buy drugs from canada dishonest? You really think we need more federal regulations? Making it legal to buy drugs from Canada would create competition for US drug makers giving them an incentive to lower their prices or lose business....
- Armitage, on 02/07/2008, -1/+2If it was me, and China or someone took out our dictator and was keeping troops here... i'd be pretty pissed and want them out ASAP.
- mmmmmbiscuits, on 02/07/2008, -0/+1Really? Would you go all, like, RED DAWN on their asses in your varsity letter jacket with your best girl and/or Charlie Sheen by your side?
- TheNik, on 02/07/2008, -1/+1I thought it was his policy to withdraw troops at "a reasonable time." We must have different definitions of reasonable. You should probably check in with Oxford.
- Scaryclouds, on 02/07/2008, -3/+5Just like his platform, the depth of the reasons why this guy supports him is an inch deep and a mile wide. That said, if Obama gets the Dem nod I will vote for him in November. Damn you republicans for not nominating Ron Paul!
- Armitage, on 02/07/2008, -1/+3it's not over yet.
- rooster113, on 02/08/2008, -0/+1hell no its not! mitt's out, more delegates for us, huck's almost out of money and then there will be a debate of the "haves" and the "have nots. psst there are a lot more of us then them. we win.
- Armitage, on 02/07/2008, -1/+3it's not over yet.
- y0y0howsdajell0, on 02/07/2008, -8/+14Holy crap. I can't believe that. All this Obama spam and NOT ONE of those things was about an ISSUE! So what if he's charismatic or what not?! We can't afford free health care for everyone...The guy even said Iran was an option! He's no different than Hilary. I can't, in good conscious, vote for someone like Obama because of what he believes. I'll write in Paul since he says what I believe, even if he doesn't win. I wish, for once, that America would get up off it's fat lazy ass and look at the issues instead of trusting CNN or FOX to bring them "fair and balanced" coverage...
Screw it. I'm voting, and then going to Australia. America, you HAVE LOST YOU'RE MIND!- zekt, on 02/07/2008, -1/+2Don't think it's any more sensible down here. Don't think you can get away from it either - the US elections are all over our screens too (yet on the other hand, no one gives a frog's tossel about our politics!)
- y0y0howsdajell0, on 02/07/2008, -1/+1Yeah, but you guys have great looking women, awesome accents, and great beer...What's the Australian feeling toward US candidates? Likes, dislikes?
- novaz04, on 02/07/2008, -0/+1In general people down here are leaning towards the Democratic side, since there seems to be much more media focus on Hilary and Obama than the Republican candidates put together. I personally, as an Australian, am favoring Obama for president.
The US has already long lost it's status as being the premier beacon for democracy and liberty (in my opinion), it's standard of living is slipping, there's a severe income inequality issue that's only getting worse and over the last 7 years global Anti-Americanism has dramatically escalated, threatening world peace. I believe Obama has a better chance at correcting these issues than any other candidate, since these are problems that require more than just generic, conservative and mainstream solutions.
Unfortunately, all Digg seems to worry about is who can maintain the lowest tax rate. As an outsider looking in, believe me, there's a lot more at stake in the US at the moment than just tax or who can best temporarily stimulate the economy, MUCH more.
I wish Americans the best in the upcoming election, and I hope the right candidate gets chosen on election day, the president that saves America.

- elipabst, on 02/07/2008, -0/+2Realistically you can't just come out and say that striking Iran isn't an option, even if they know we couldn't do it logistically. To do so is really naive. Threatening to take your ball and go home is not a legitimate foreign policy, especially since it isn't entirely clear what Iran's nuclear objectives are. Saying ***** it and letting them do whatever the hell they want sets up an extremely dangerous scenario where Iran could become a regional threat to Iraq and even Saudi Arabia. If that happens then the cat will already be out of the bag and you can sign your kids up for Gulf War v3.0. You think gas prices are high now....
