Not really. - dragon76, on 10/13/2008, -1/+3I don't think believing in God automatically makes you a Christian, that's the problem with the pinhole-narrow view of theism that your radical offshoot of Judaism has.

- CyGuy, on 10/12/2008, -11/+169Why is it more important to some bishops what a candidate's stance is on abortion, when McCain is divorced? Only one of the candidates could ever be a "good Catholic" and it's Obama. And Obama fought hard in IL against the broken Death Penalty law they had there, you would think that the "Pro-Life" Catholic church which is also vehemently anti-Death Penalty could see that Obama is generally more in line with their (and Christ's) teachings than War-Monger McCain who voted for an unjust war that the Church opposed that has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands.
And that's not even mentioning that Obama's VP is a Catholic.- Wisewood, on 10/12/2008, -1/+74Divorced? That's not the half of it. He carried on adultery with Cindy Hensley while still married to his first wife, Carol. I'm sure that wouldn't go over well.... well, if it were ever reported widely.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1024927/ ...- jforjools, on 10/13/2008, -0/+28It's not just that he cheated on her...but his wife was a recovering from a painful and disfiguring near-fatal accident. She was no longer a swimsuit model. The accident crippled her.
- fuzzybeard, on 10/13/2008, -2/+4I can see it now:
[FADE IN: a confessional; we see JOHN MCCAIN step in...]
JOHN MCCAIN: Bless me Father; for I have sinned. Are you comfortable over there, because this might take a while...
That's all the further I can get with it. Help, please? - Volatile36, on 10/13/2008, -0/+3@fuzzybeard
What is said budget for this commercial?
I think ideally it would need it's own 22 minute block. We could earn revenue from airing ads during our commercial!
- jforjools, on 10/13/2008, -0/+28It's not just that he cheated on her...but his wife was a recovering from a painful and disfiguring near-fatal accident. She was no longer a swimsuit model. The accident crippled her.
- JenniferInMO, on 10/12/2008, -1/+37Don't forget that he "converted" to Baptist (the largest Christian sect in the US) recently and hasn't been baptized, nor does he regularly attend church.
- Shiloah, on 10/12/2008, -1/+33Single-issue voters are too easy, and they hinder rational politics. Pro-life Republicans play them like a fiddle. They would lose that whole base once abortion was outlawed, which may help explain why it hasn't come up in 12 years of Republican congresses and 8 years in the White House.
Obama, however, offers practical and proven ways of reducing abortions by providing support systems to families in high-risk situations.
Letting Obama do what he can to reduce the abortion rate is a better solution than voting for McCain in the pie-in-the-sky hope of a ban that is just not going to happen.- Twag86, on 10/13/2008, -1/+9Good point about the republicans not bringing up abortion. Politicians do this all too often. In Hardball by Chris Mathews he talks about how the democrats wont vote to tie a minimum wage increase to the standard of living because then they can say they voted to raise it each election. Its a good argument for term limits.
- godofallcows, on 10/13/2008, -15/+4Because killing children, further separating the church from state, and allowing marriages IN CHURCHES between same-sex couples is what the Catholic church is likely to do?
- Shiloah, on 10/13/2008, -0/+7I don't fully understand this post, but the point about "further separating" church from state is moot. America already has a radical wall of separation between church and state. It's in the First Amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." Church can't possibly get any more separated from the state than it was in 1791 when the Bill of Rights became effective.
The Catholic Church has always claimed the right to secular power, as have many of the Protestant state churches of Europe, but America rejected that model early on in favor of freedom of religion. - fuzzybeard, on 10/13/2008, -0/+4To answer your questions in sequence:
"Because killing children...": Children's Crusade, 1212 C.E., aided and abetted.
"further separating the church from state...": Not bloody likely; but it'd be damn decent of The Church.
...and my favorite:"allowing marriages IN CHURCHES between same-sex couples is what the Catholic church is likely to do?" It'll probably never happen in a mainline Roman Catholic Church; certainly it'd never happen by government edict.
The one thing that The Church could do to shore itself up in this day and age is to void Canons 3 and 21 of the First Lateran Council of 1123 C.E. and the canons that were declared based on Canons 3 and 21.
No, I'm not Catholic; I was raised a Protestant, converted to Judaism, and I now consider myself a Deist with Buddhist leanings. - godofallcows, on 10/19/2008, -0/+1do i really have to put a /sarcasm?

- TVarmy, on 10/13/2008, -1/+5When I read "Dead Man Walking," it sounded like the Catholic church didn't have an official stance on the death penalty. I'm against the death penalty, and I'm proud of NJ, my state, for getting rid of it. If the Vatican has taken an official stance against it, that's good news.
- ByteMeGood, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1The vatican has always had a stance against the death penalty.

Not when they were the ones doing the executions.
- Monkeywithacold, on 10/13/2008, -0/+7Actually a lot of Catholics and Protestant Christians I talk to feel this way as well. Problem is, they aren't the ones on TV that have million dollar jets, they are average Pastors doing their part in the Church. Granted, thats not how all Pastors feel of course.
But don't count on ever seeing one of those guys (Rob Bell, Tony Campolo, Bob Hyatt, Brian McLaren, Doug Paggitt) on Digg, they don't fit the right wing mold which diggers (including myself) make fun of too much.- EthosProduction, on 10/13/2008, -1/+4I'm only vaguely familiar with the others, but Rob Bell, and especially Tony Campolo are incredible guys. They're following their faith in the RIGHT way: fighting for the rights of gays, ending this ridiculous war, and doing everything they can to help the poor, the suffering, the homeless, etc.. I think the vast majority of the Christian Right needs to learn a lesson or two (or fifty) from these men.
- EthosProduction, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m584z5aE4Uc&fmt=18
While I don't agree with everything Tony says, or believes, he's a great guy. This video is from when he was interviewed on CBC's rather progressive "The Hour", with George Stroumboulopoulos. It's a pretty good overview of Campolo's theology.

It seems like that's what most of you guys are playing now. At go back to covering for Obama's numerous indiscretions that probably mount up to McCain's. They're all crooks. Obama is no ***** savior.
- audomatix, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1You enjoy penis.
- Dreamzville, on 10/13/2008, -1/+4Dudes...take your squabble elsewhere...we're busy here with the cool nun story, which is way cool. She *GETS IT*, man! =D

stop the drama, vote obama. - virtualval2001, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2Sorry that Veepzilla from Wasilla isn't working out for you. Fun while it lasted?

- JazLive, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1There's lots of "Golden Aged Citizens 100+" Good Morning America shows them daily, sponsored by "Smuckers" jellies and preserves.
My grandfather (104) was 49 years of age when Ike became the 34th President in 1953. Sister was 51 years young.

- culbeda, on 10/13/2008, -3/+30I'm as big of an Obama fan as the next guy, but is anyone else concerned that so many pro-Obama fluff pieces will (A) dilute the message and (B) over-inflate the collective perception of his lead and negatively impact that actual vote?
- godofallcows, on 10/13/2008, -7/+9What? I couldn't hear you over noise their making while building an Obama statue
- godofallcows, on 10/13/2008, -0/+3they're* whatever.
- Dreamzville, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2LOL!!! =D
- veled, on 10/13/2008, -2/+5How many people do you think will actually FAIL to vote because they feel Obama is a foregone conclusion?
It's worth guarding against, but still, Obama's supporters are far more spirited / invested in Obama this time around than your usual democrat, it seems...- stealthc, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2I hope both the Democrats AND Republicans stay home because they feel their candidate is a foregone conclusion. Then we can vote in Barr or Nader or Baldwin or SOMEONE who isn't a party hack beholden to globalist interests.
- Lula87, on 10/13/2008, -0/+3That was my immediate thought when I read this as well.
I feel like if the opposition took this direction, I'd be pretty disgusted by it. - Monkeywithacold, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2It helps that most of the media wants this to look like a close election, so that people will tune in and watch the news more often.
In all actuality, Obama is sorta running away with this. - brad3378, on 10/14/2008, -0/+1To be honest, I already wrote you guys off because your group tends to digg all of these fluff articles instead of the more important issues like the economy. It's a shame that I can only find like 10 Obama supporters on this website worthy of debating with. If you think you can handle it, add me as a friend and let the games begin.
Now bury me for not fitting into your crowd.

- czeman, on 10/13/2008, -3/+6This is what we're in for if Obama gets elected. Nobody's opinion will count unless the Democrats like it.
- chosenone1, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2Not really an opinion, as much as a response that many cynics of Digg would find to be offensive because they
have no sense of humor when it comes to the truthful hilarity of fascist, socialistic, ignorant sycophants of Digg.
That just happen to follow Obama religiously. Coincidence, I think not...........

- moolaismyfriend, on 10/13/2008, -27/+9To bad she wasted her life pushing fairy tales upon innocent people.
- moolaismyfriend, on 10/13/2008, -5/+3Wow I am amazed that people support wasting a life supporting fairy tales.
This woman is a waste to humanity.- maybemable, on 10/13/2008, -0/+3she would have joined the church in the 1910's or 20's. who the ***** are you to say you wouldn't have been a believer back then?
i'm really pleased (and sometimes admittedly smug) that i turned out an atheist but in no way do i disrespect ppl born before the tv age for believing. it wasn't an option back then. - DreadPirate, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2Funny, moola. One could very easily say you are even more of a waste. This woman dedicated her life to helping people - the best you've managed to accomplish with your life is to be an epic ***** on digg.
- maybemable, on 10/13/2008, -0/+3she would have joined the church in the 1910's or 20's. who the ***** are you to say you wouldn't have been a believer back then?

Obama/Biden - CynicSight, on 10/13/2008, -14/+8But... I don't understand... What's the point of her voting if she isn't going to live here? I mean, yea, go old lady for being one of the few smart seniors out there who are voting for Obama... but.. you're not even living here.
- stafax, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2It's so she can vote for the improvements of her home country. Just like when the United States held elections for the new Iraq government in 2004 and 2005 for the US citizens who are also Iraqi citizens. They're not going to live there, but they want to vote for who is best fit to govern Iraq.
- CynicSight, on 10/13/2008, -1/+1If you don't live where you're voting, you shouldn't be able to vote. I don't give a ***** who you're voting for.
- maybemable, on 10/14/2008, -0/+2@CynicSight: The absentee vote is there so that students, people travelling, those temporarily working abroad etc can still vote. if someone's vote is invalid because they're temporarily out of town, the chance for corruption is much greater.
To do what you're saying everyone would have to declare their intention to return or something. it's completely unmanageable.
- stafax, on 10/13/2008, -1/+2It's so she can vote for the improvements of her home country. - MiDNiGHTS, on 10/13/2008, -3/+7There goes the senior vote.
- DarkReign16, on 10/13/2008, -11/+6She wants to feel young again, and voting for the other 100 year old wouldn't have helped, so it's understandable she would vote for Obama.
- moolaismyfriend, on 10/13/2008, -9/+3ohh wow you are smart...
- DarkReign16, on 10/13/2008, -0/+7Sorry, I forgot to mention that this was a joke. I'll remember to let you know ahead of time in the future.

(9000/360 = 25)- apathetique, on 10/13/2008, -2/+7Don't you mean 9000/365.25 = 24.6 ? :D
- Zephik, on 10/13/2008, -0/+5Technically he is still right.
25 years old is older than 24.6 years old last I checked.
:p

- slvrbullet87, on 10/13/2008, -7/+3And why is that a good thing?
- roijen, on 10/13/2008, -6/+13I hear they dwell underground. I heard a rumor once, something about the mines of Moria.
- godofallcows, on 10/13/2008, -20/+26Yeah, we're the ones not dry humping Obama's leg.
- czeman, on 10/13/2008, -12/+7LMFAO!!! So true!!!!

- godofallcows, on 10/19/2008, -0/+1I thought you liked gay marriages?
- H0tKarl, on 10/13/2008, -10/+5They're the ones who aren't working on the Obama campaign, while pretending to be regular people.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/13/2008, -1/+5Wait, so you are honestly saying that all diggers who support Obama work for the campaign? Reminds me of how people accuse me of working for the government when I argue against 9/11 conspiracy theories.
- dankpants, on 10/13/2008, -2/+15YEAH RON PAUL
- graeh, on 10/13/2008, -2/+6I for one - still remember the great ron paul spam of 2008.
Of course there are republicans here.
Dear lord - there might even be people here who digg based on a case by case basis, based on character. HOLY *****. IMAGINE THAT? PEOPLE WHO DUGG RON PAUL FOR THE SALIENCE OF HIS MESSAGE, WHO WENT ON TO DIGG OBAMA FOR THE SAME?
DOGS AND CATS LIVING TOGETHER, PEOPLE ACTING AS INDIVIDUALS INSTEAD OF PARTISAN DOUCHBAGS. *****. WHAT TO DO?
In a perfect world... in a perfect world...- stealthc, on 10/13/2008, -0/+3Except Ron Paul was an actual glimmer of hope. This... This is more partisan *****.
- SifuMoKung, on 10/13/2008, -0/+3I'm Republican. Though most neo-cons accuse me of being a communist because I am moderate on most of my views, and I'm atheist. The only thing that would make me more rare in the party is if I were black. I would have voted for Ike, though. He was, indeed, a great president.
- cowchips902, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1I anit gots no ***** money!
- moolaismyfriend, on 10/13/2008, -30/+9No they are on incest.com
- bro2baseball, on 10/13/2008, -8/+7Mildly interesting.
- MrWhoopee, on 10/13/2008, -22/+7So? Aww, more propaganda for you blind followers, how cute.
"Oh wow, even a 106 y/o is voting for Obama!" What do you expect from a senile woman that's been in a bubble for 50 years...- audomatix, on 10/13/2008, -1/+6It's funny how the people who are really blind such as yourself, call the ones who're enlightened blind. It's almost like calling someone a traitor who isn't to hide the fact that you yourself are but honestly what group of idiots would..... wait.
- jackieblu, on 10/13/2008, -1/+5At least she isn't voting for the senile old man!
- mmmunaf, on 10/13/2008, -2/+48"It is very complicated," she said. "Those Eastern people are not like we are."

- orlyfactor, on 10/13/2008, -2/+2maybe...
- eryximachus, on 10/13/2008, -3/+2I wish the young of America weren't so blinded by political correctness and cultural relativism they cannot identify which cultures are superior and which cultures are inferior. Further, I wish they could actually think of the term "people" in terms of something other than race.
- mmmunaf, on 10/13/2008, -1/+4I wish people got jokes.

- nesstheking1, on 10/13/2008, -3/+7Oh Jim, you bigoted piece of trash! I hope that the fact that you are scared of the black guy will go on your headstone.
- czeman, on 10/13/2008, -1/+3I hope the fact that you're entire decision to vote based on race is tatood to your forehead.
- NidStyles, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2I'm trying to understand what part of his post was racial. Forgive me for being out of the loop on this whole racial thing that's been going on.
- acroyear2, on 10/13/2008, -0/+2Obama is going to talk about ACORN in the coming days and your fear of Rev. Wright is because you're ignorant. I'm sorry to put it that way. I can talk to you about Rev. Wright and black liberation theology however if you're unclear about it. I believe you'll feel differently about the subject.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQalRPQ8stI- BlackCow, on 10/13/2008, -0/+3Oh please, this video takes a high and mighty road like Republicans are true patriots and champions of liberty and individual freedom. That's a load of *****. If Obama supporters were to march in conservative southern areas they would get the same welcoming with some racism thrown in. This video is more about mob mentality than it is about one party being better than the other.
